A suburb is a residential area or a mixed use area, either existing as part of a city or urban area or as a separate residential community within commuting distance of a city. In most English-speaking regions, suburban areas are defined in contrast to central or inner city areas, but in Australian English, "suburb" has become largely synonymous with what is called a "neighborhood" in other countries and the term extends to inner city areas. In some areas, such as Australia, China, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and a few U.S. states, new suburbs are routinely annexed by adjacent cities. In others, such as France, Arabia, most of the United States, and Canada, many suburbs remain separate municipalities or are governed as part of a larger local government area such as a county.
Suburbs first emerged on a large scale in the 19th and 20th centuries as a result of improved rail and road transport, which led to an increase in commuting. In general, they have lower population densities than inner city neighborhoods within an metropolitan area, and most residents commute to central cities or other business districts; however, there are many exceptions, including industrial suburbs, planned communities, and satellite cities. Suburbs tend to proliferate around cities that have an abundance of adjacent flat land.

Pet Shop is a 1994 film by Moonbeam Entertainment.
An alien couple comes to Earth disguised as a cowboy and cowgirl and buy a pet shop from its owner in an attempt to try to eat some of Earth's children for dinner. They look like normal people aside from the fact that they have a third eye on their foreheads which they cover with their hats. One by one they give some pets to random kids free of charge. The pets at first seem normal, until they change into their alien forms. The kids meet when they return to the pet shop because their pets stop eating and need some type of "vitamins" that the aliens feed them.
Originally intended for a release in the summer of 1994, the film ended up being released on videocassette on March 28, 1995. To this day, the film has never been released on DVD and as of September 26, 2010, neither Paramount Pictures nor Full Moon Features has yet to announce any plans to release the film onto DVD.

Pet Shop Boys Single Suburbia Lyrics Lost in the high street, where the dogs run Roaming suburban boys Mother's got a hairdo to be done She says they're too old for toys Stood by the bus stop with a felt pen In this suburban hell And in the distance a police car To break the suburban spell Let's take a ride, and run with the dogs tonight In Suburbia You can't hide, run with the dogs tonight In Suburbia Break the window by the town hall Listen, the siren screams There in the distance, like a roll call Of all the suburban dreams Let's take a ride, and run with the dogs tonight In Suburbia You can't hide, run with the dogs tonight In Suburbia I only wanted something else to do but hang around I only wanted something else to do but hang around I only wanted something else to do but hang ...
somewhere in the city
built of iron and steel
where the water pumps thru buildings
thru a turbine wheel
somewhere there's a
lady calling 911
frozen to the telephone
screaming help please come
if the populations growing then
only time can tell
'cause prisons are overflowing
there's no room in hellin the california valley the palm
trees sway
on the lawns of the tract housing
all the children play
it's darkest in suburbia
it's darkest in suburbia
