Seijin Plays Cthulhu Saves The World Part 2 : Two Bosses, One Video

Hello and welcome to part 2 of my Cthulhu Saves The World playthrough. If you haven't seen part 1, please do so. Quick reminder : This playthrough builds every character in a way that is uncommon, going against the natural flow of their expected build (i.e. Cthulhu using magic). And I play on Hard difficulty. Now, in part 1, I reached the character limit for the description, so I will not lose any time and try to cover whatever I missed in part 1. In part 1, I stayed around the healing spot for a while, grinding battles, because I needed to obtain Fireball with Cthulhu. On Normal difficulty, it probably wouldn't be necessary, but on Hard, I really need the first learnable offensive skill to start doing significant damage. At level 5, Umi learned Hide, not Insane Agility. Hide makes her targeted less often, and it's a permanent passive. She's frail, so she needs this. And since I don't use the insanity status much, I don't need Insane Agility. At level 5, Cthulhu got 15 MP and 30 MAG, instead of 30 STR ad 30 VIT. Again, he's built towards magic in this playthrough. At level 6, Umi got Blind instead of Blind Strike, for reasons already mentioned in her presentation in part 1. Blind has a 60% chance to inflict blind, and it hits an entire group, but it does no damage. At level 6, Cthulhu obtained Fireball instead of Flame Strike, and I could finally start moving deeper into the area now that I had decent offensive capabilities. At level 7, Umi gained Ailment Combo+ instead of 40 STR. For reasons mentioned in her description (see part 1), I forego any physical offensive upgrade because that's where she excels, given time. So I go with the improved chances to inflict status based on the combo, even though it will probably not make a difference. Most enemies are straightforward enough, but the major hitters are the Dolphins. They have a lot of health, hit hard, and they take half damage from fire, so even Cthulhu's Fireball doesn't kill them that easily. Umi's Blind really helps against them. This is one of relatively few situations where I think Blind is better than Blind Strike. Groups of three Dolphins are really nasty, but rather tame if Blind works on two or three of them right away. In part 1, I obtained a Fleece Tunic for Cthulhu in a chest. It gives +20 VIT and +10 WILL over his previous armor. Basically, VIT is physical defense, and WILL is magic defense. More details about that in part 3. Finally done with part 1 stuff that I couldn't mention! Now, about part 2. At the beginning of part 2, I reach the first boss battle : The Three Heroes of Goodly Justice. Blind works wonders against the thief. I kill the cleric first because she can heal. I made a mistake at around 3:30 and attacked the hero with Cthulhu, thinking Umi's Flood (doing 21) would finish off the cleric (who had 20 HP left). But she takes less damage from it than the others and she survived and healed. Oops! The rest is straightforward. Cthulhu reached level 7. I picked the 30 AGI over the 15 VIT and 15 WILL because agility is good. I obtain an Iron Sword for Cthulhu. It gives +20 STR, +10 MAG and +10 VIT over his previous weapon. Then I reached the next boss. Star Terror does one of three things. He either attacks physically, uses Starfall (damages the entire party), or spends a turn charging his strength to make his next attack stronger. Additionally, he will automatically heal himself of negative status effects after being hit by one, which is a way to make him "waste" a turn. Unfortunately, I got unlucky and I never managed to inflict one against him during this battle. In this battle, I show the first unite attack. Cthulhu's and Umi's unite attack is Call Kraken. It inflicts damage on all enemies every turn, and costs 12 MP for both. It's a very good unite attack against bosses to do chip damage every turn, and it builds the combo meter. (The Kraken cannot be targeted or killed in any way. It lasts until the battle ends no matter what.) I also show a typical strategy of Umi's Siren's Call and Cthulhu's Deathblow. When the boss is relatively low on health, I use Siren's Call to make the boss insane (to make him take extra damage) and stunning him for one turn, and I follow with Deathblow to do high damage (based on the combo) to finish off the boss, before he can take advantage of the insanity status to do high damage on me. This is a common strategy to end most boss battles. Even with a magic build, I still do high enough damage with Deathblow that this strategy ends up being used frequently against bosses. Cthulhu reached level 8. I went with +10 to all stats over +20 HP/MP, because... because. Umi reached level 8. I get to pick one escape spell. It's the only way to escape random battles in the game. One costs 25 MP and works 100% of the time, the other costs 10 MP and works 60% of the time. I went with the 100% one, because if I'm trying to escape, I'm probably in a situation where failing spells doom.
