Perth has shivered through its coldest morning in almost a year, with some temperatures hitting below-freezing across the state on Wednesday morning.
The Bureau of Meteorology's data found temperatures in the Perth metropolitan area had fallen nearly 10 degrees overnight, to record a minimum of 1.8 degrees just after 7am on Wednesday morning.
Temperatures in Dwellingup and Gingin bottomed out at -0.4, while the Wheatbelt town of Cunderdin recorded the lowest reading in WA of -0.9 at 5.27am.
Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Jessica Wilkes said it had been the coldest start to the day since August last year.
"It's definitely chilly out there this morning – this was the coldest morning of 2017 so far," she said.
"Many people may have noticed a frost on their windscreen, as temperatures reached only 1.8 degrees at around 7am.
"The last time we experienced temperatures like this was in August last year, when we recorded a morning minimum of just 1.6 degrees."
While some Perth commuters battled against the frost on Wednesday morning, Ms Wilkes said the conditions hadn't made the roads any more dangerous – unless drivers didn't attempt to hose down their vehicles before travelling to work.
"If there was a bit more moisture around there might be cause for concern as near-freezing temperatures tend to make our roads slippery, but this morning I'm sure it was just a bit of an inconvenience," she said.

Ms Wilkes said there wasn't much relief in sight, as a predicted cold front was expected to hit Perth on Thursday afternoon.
"It'll bring with it some showers, and perhaps a storm or two on our south-coast," she said.
The last time we experienced temperatures like this was in August last year, when we recorded a morning minimum of just 1.6 degrees.
"It's probably going to stick around for quite a while, with Friday expected to have a few lingering showers and the possibility of a shower or two on Saturday morning."
The cold front is expected to hang around until Tuesday next week.
