Strain (injury)

A strain is an injury to a muscle in which the muscle fibers tear as a result of overstretching. A strain is also colloquially known as a pulled muscle or torn muscle. The equivalent injury to a ligament is a sprain.

Signs and symptoms

Typical symptoms of a strain include localized stiffness, discoloration and bruising around the strained muscle.

Causes

Strains are a result of muscular fiber tears due to over stretching; they can range from mild annoyance to very painful. Although strains are not restricted to athletes and can happen while doing everyday tasks, people who play sports are more at risk of developing a strain.

Treatment

The first-line treatment for a muscular strain in the acute phase include five steps commonly known as P.R.I.C.E.

Strain (ストレイン) is manga series written by Yoshiyuki Okamura and illustrated by Ryoichi Ikegami, published Shogakukan's Big Comic Superior from 1996 to 1998.

Plot

Mayo is a professional assassin who is hired by the "Organization" to kill the mother of a young prostitute, Shion. Shion pleads with Mayo, and convinces him to give up on his mission.

As Mayo takes pity on Shion and her mother, who offer him more money, the leaders of the Organization pronounce a death sentence on him.

Strain is the third studio album by American industrial group, Flesh Field, which was released on November 8, 2004 on Metropolis Records. This is not only Flesh Field's debut album on Metropolis Records, but this is also their first album that features the vocals of Wendy Yanko after the departure of Rian Miller.

Welcome (1986 film)

Welcome (Russian: Добро пожаловать) is a 1986 Soviet paint-on-glass-animated 10-minute film adapted from the 1948 children's book by Dr. Seuss Thidwick the Big-Hearted Moose. Coproduction of Sverdlovsk television studio and Gosteleradio.

Released in 1986, the film went on to win the Grand Prix at the Ottawa International Animation Festival in 1988 and in Los Angeles. Although the visual style is quite different, the story is mostly the same with the exception of some subtle changes — for example, the moose isn't shown rejoining his herd at the end and the squatter animals aren't stuffed and mounted. Also, none of the animals are ever named and there is no narrator. The film was directed by Alexei Karayev. The art director was Aleksandr Petrov, who would later win an Oscar for his 1999 film The Old Man and the Sea. The screenplay was written by Yury Iosifovich Koval, a renowned author.
