It may also refer to:
Notre-Dame de Paris (IPA: [nɔtʁə dam də paʁi](French ) ; French for "Our Lady of Paris"), also known as Notre-Dame Cathedral or simply Notre-Dame, is a historic Catholic cathedral on the eastern half of the Île de la Cité in the fourth arrondissement of Paris, France. The cathedral is widely considered to be one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture, and it is among the largest and most well-known church buildings in the world. The naturalism of its sculptures and stained glass are in contrast with earlier Romanesque architecture.
As the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Paris, Notre-Dame is the parish that contains the cathedra, or official chair, of the Archbishop of Paris, currently Cardinal André Vingt-Trois. The cathedral treasury is notable for its reliquary which houses some of Catholicism's most important first-class relics including the purported Crown of Thorns, a fragment of the True Cross, and one of the Holy Nails.
In the 1790s, Notre-Dame suffered desecration during the radical phase of the French Revolution when much of its religious imagery was damaged or destroyed. An extensive restoration supervised by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc began in 1845. A project of further restoration and maintenance began in 1991.
Paris (UK: /ˈpærɪs/ PARR-iss; US: i/ˈpɛərɪs/ PAIR-iss; French: [paʁi]) is the capital and most populous city of France. Situated on the Seine River, in the north of the country, it is in the centre of the Île-de-France region, also known as the région parisienne, "Paris Region". The City of Paris has an area of 105 km² (41 mi²) and a population of 2,241,346 (2014 estimate) within its administrative borders essentially unchanged since 1860.
Since the 19th century, the built-up area of Paris has grown far beyond its administrative borders; together with its suburbs, the whole agglomeration has a population of 10,550,350 (Jan. 2012 census).Paris' metropolitan area spans most of the Paris region and has a population of 12,341,418 (Jan. 2012 census), or one-fifth of the population of France. The administrative region covers 12,012 km² (4,638 mi²), with approximately 12 million inhabitants as of 2014, and has its own regional council and president.
Paris was founded in the 3rd century BC by a Celtic people called the Parisii, who gave the city its name. By the 12th century, Paris was the largest city in the western world, a prosperous trading centre, and the home of the University of Paris, one of the first in Europe. In the 18th century, it was the centre stage for the French Revolution, and became an important centre of finance, commerce, fashion, science, and the arts, a position it still retains today.
Dame is a noble title and the female equivalent of the honour of knighthood in the British honours system and the systems of several other countries such as Australia and New Zealand. The word "damehood" is rarely used but it is shown, on the official British Monarchy website, as being the correct term. It is the equivalent form of address to "Sir" for knights. A woman appointed to the grades of Dame Commander or Dame Grand Cross of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, the Royal Victorian Order, or the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire becomes a dame. Because there is no female equivalent to a Knight Bachelor, women are always appointed to an order of chivalry. Women who are appointed to the Most Noble Order of the Garter or the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle are given the title of "Lady" rather than "Dame".
The Order of the Ermine, founded by John V, Duke of Brittany in 1381 was the first order of chivalry to accept women; however, female knights existed for centuries in many places in the world prior to this. Like their male counterparts were distinguished by the flying of coloured banners and were generally armigerous (bearing a coat of arms).
A cathedral (French: cathédrale from Latin: cathedra, "seat" from the Greek kathedra (καθέδρα), seat, bench, from kata "down" + hedra seat, base, chair) is a Christian church which contains the seat of a bishop, thus serving as the central church of a diocese, conference, or episcopate. The counterpart term for such a church in German is Dom from Latin domus ecclesiae or domus episcopalis; also Italian Duomo, Dutch Domkerk and cognates in many other European languages. Churches with the function of "cathedral" are usually specific to those Christian denominations with an episcopal hierarchy, such as the Roman Catholic, Anglican, Orthodox, and some Lutheran and Methodist churches. Church buildings embodying the functions of a cathedral first appear in Italy, Gaul, Spain and North Africa in the 4th century, but cathedrals did not become universal within the Western Catholic Church until the 12th century, by which time they had developed architectural forms, institutional structures and legal identities distinct from parish churches, monastic churches and episcopal residences.

David Turecamo, "Sunday Morning's" man in Paris, explores the history of France's famed Notre Dame Cathedral and explains how it was saved from near destruction.
Notre Dame Cathedral is an artistic and architectural masterpiece. Constructed over 182 years beginning in in 1163, it is the finest example of Gothic design in the world. The Cathedral stands on an island in the heart of Paris. The building was damaged during the French Revolution but restored after publication of the Victor Hugo novel, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" in 1831. A must see while in Paris.

In the performance, the interpreters, feminine, will try to recreate an emotional subjective putative of the gargoyles of the Cathedral of Paris, parallel to a musical construction based on the polyphonic songs that were founded there, as of one aesthetic settled on the paraffin's materiality. Then, it will be through a dreamlike transmutation that the ones around will experience the deliriums and tensions of those beings that loose prophecies and ex...

This is just a quick test of the Sony RX100 in low light video conditions. ISO was set to 1600, shooting 30P (1080 60i) at 1/60 exposure for the indoor shots. That little guy sure puts up a fight and it's great what you can get out of this tiny camera for video. The active stabilization works extremely well, and this was supplemented with the Photography and Cinema Pico Dolly and Pistol Grip. http://www.photographyandcinema.com/ The Pico Dolly is demonstrated here pretty well and it works as well as a slider if you are very smooth. I also used it as a tripod since I mostly took pictures during this quick trip to the cathedral. It fits easily in a small camera bag and the RX100 itself is pocket-sized so the entire setup is stealthy and mobile - perfect for little run and gun videos.
Johann Vexo is the Organist of the Choir Organ and in this video plays the Great Pipe Organ in Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. This was recorded as an "extra" while recording a CD of him on the pipe organ in the cathedral. The work is Louis Vierne's Symphonie II in e minor, Opus 20; composed in 1903 and dedicated to Charles Mutin. Claude Debussy wrote in a review of the work, "Vierne's Symphony is truly remarkable; it combines abundant musicianship with the cleverest use of the instrument's special sonority. Old J.S. Bach the father of us all, would have been pleased with Monsieur Vierne". Watching this movie doesn’t cost you anything, because the time and expense was paid by me. Millions of peope have been there, is there anybody who hasn't heard of it? And yet how much do you really know about one of the world's most famous cathedrals. Put it this way: nothing could survive more than eight centuries without a hell of a story. Produced, written, shot and edited by David Turecamo, "Our Man in Paris" for CBS News SUNDAY MORNING
This is my senior project for my BYU Animation BFA. The project was to create the Cathedral in Amiens, France using 3D technology. This was built primarily in Houdini, with some early modeling in Maya. The final renders were composited in Nuke and the video was edited in After Effects. The majority of the research for the Cathedral came from referencing images that people posted online, along with measurements and schematics included in Columbia University's Dr Stephen Murphy's book, "Notre Dame, Cathedral of Amiens: The Power of Change in Gothic." The song used is "Mariam Matrem Virginem" performed by Anúna, and is used with the generous permission of Anúna's director, Michael McGlynn. Esmeralda, the bell tolls for thee!
A tortured soul in a twisted frame
I'm the one who tolls the bell.
In a cathedral tower,
That is Notre Dame.
... Notre Dame!
I wave high above
To the crowd down below,
Though heaven help me.
I killed for love
Now there can be no Sanctuary.
No-one would weep
As I go to my grave,
Only she who knew me.
The arrows of one betrayed,
Life's hollow mockery.
Rings loud in my ears,
The bitter call of there jeers.
Cruel laughter drowns my tears.
On top of the world,
I'm falling to the ground.
Hear the bells cry Sanctuary!
On top of the world,
I'm deafened by the sound.
Hear the bells cry Sanctuary!
Grotesque, outcast and alone,
They used ropes to bind me.
Broke a whip across my back
To remind me who I am.
She was beauty,
I was the beast.
My Esmeralda.
Bitter sweet she was
Caught and released
By this hunchback of Notre dame.
In anger and shame,
Bearing torches they came.
This fool was not to blame.
Up here I'm safe
And on my guard.
While bloodlust rules
The boulevard.
These hallowed walls
Are all around,
How long before madmen
Tear them down to the ground?
