Max Greenfield (born September 4, 1980) is an American actor best known for his recurring roles on Veronica Mars as Leo D'Amato, Ugly Betty as Nick Pepper, and for co-starring in the short-lived WB series Modern Men. Greenfield currently co-stars in the Fox sitcom New Girl as Schmidt, which began airing in September 2011.
Greenfield was born and raised in Dobbs Ferry, New York. He is Jewish and had a Saturday Night Live-themed Bar Mitzvah. As of 2011, he resides in Los Angeles, California with his wife, Tess Sanchez and their daughter Lily.
Greenfield has made many guest roles on shows such as Gilmore Girls, Undressed, Boston Public and on The O.C. as young Sandy Cohen in a flashback. He also appeared as gay college student Michael in Greek, English teacher Mr. Robbins in No Ordinary Family and Ian the coffee shop owner in Happy Endings. Greenfield has also guest starred in Veronica Mars as Leo D'Amato in 2005-2007.
Greenfield's film credits include the indie coming-of-age film Cross Bronx, which won awards at the Tribeca Film Festival, as well as the Cinevegas and Urban World festivals. He also appeared in When Do We Eat, in which he played a young dot-com tycoon who loses everything and becomes a Hasidic Jew. In 2011, he landed a major role in New Girl alongside Zooey Deschanel. BuddyTV ranked him #6 on its list of "TV's Sexiest Men of 2011".
