A street light, light pole, lamppost, street lamp, light standard, or lamp standard is a raised source of light on the edge of a road or walkway. Modern lamps may also have light-sensitive photocells that activate automatically when light is or is not needed: dusk, dawn, or the onset of dark weather. This function in older lighting systems could have been performed with the aid of a solar dial. Many street light systems are being connected underground instead of wiring from one utility post to another.
Early lamps were used by Greek and Roman civilizations, where light primarily served the purpose of security, both to protect the wanderer from tripping on the path over something or keeping the potential robbers at bay. At that time oil lamps were used predominantly as they provided a long-lasting and moderate flame. The Romans had a word 'lanternarius', which was a term for a slave responsible for lighting the oil lamps in front of their villas. This task remained the responsibility of a designated person up to the Middle Ages where the so-called 'link boys' escorted people from one place to another through the murky winding streets of medieval towns.
A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. There are also cases where songs are used in tie in marketing campaigns that allow them to become more than just a song. Tie ins and merchandising could be used in toys are marketing campaigns for food and other products. Although the origins of music videos date back to musical short films that first appeared in the 1920s, they came into prominence in the 1980s when MTV based their format around the medium. Prior to the 1980s, these works were described by various terms including "illustrated song", "filmed insert", "promotional (promo) film", "promotional clip", "promotional video", "song video", "song clip" or "film clip". Since the creation and increased popularity of YouTube, mainstream artists now promote new music videos by releasing trailers of short promos on the site for their upcoming song and music video. Consequentially, YouTube has been converted into a social media platform for celebrities and artists to market themselves to their fans and audiences.
Streetlight Manifesto is an American ska punk band from New Brunswick, New Jersey formed in 2002. They released their first album, Everything Goes Numb, which was distributed by Victory Records, on August 26, 2003. The band headlined and sold out their first concert at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey on December 9, 2003. Several of Streetlight Manifesto's members were well known in the New Jersey third wave ska community for their roles in past ska punk bands from that area, primarily Kalnoky's Catch 22 and fellow New Jersey band One Cool Guy.
Kalnoky, Ansley and Egan (also from New Jersey) had previously been members of Catch 22. In 2002, Kalnoky gathered a large number of musicians—including Ansley and Egan, several members of One Cool Guy, his brother Achilles, and several of Achilles' orchestra friends—to perform on the Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution EP, A Call to Arms. Included on the five track independently released CD is "Here's to Life", a song which Streetlight Manifesto reworked and included on Everything Goes Numb, and a new version of Catch 22's "Dear Sergio", which included a new verse. Both Streetlight and the Bandits are members of The RISC Group, a collaboration of artists to self produce and retain rights to their music.
Dutch Uncles are a English indie pop band from Marple. They are known for their use of atypical time signatures within a pop context, and the androgynous vocals of frontman Duncan Wallis. Their influences include Kate Bush, King Crimson, Steve Reich, XTC and Talking Heads.
Originally from Marple, the band started playing together in college. They became Dutch Uncles in April 2008, and in early 2009 released their eponymous debut album in Germany with Tapete Records, recorded at Cloud Hill Studios in Hamburg.
The band returned in 2010 with their UK debut single "The Ink", released through independent record label Love & Disaster on 31 May 2010. Soon after, they signed to London label Memphis Industries and released the single "Fragrant" on 1 November 2010. The band's second album entitled Cadenza was released on 25 April 2011. The band toured the UK throughout 2011 including appearances at Reading and Leeds Festivals and stage headline slots at Bestival and Latitude, followed by a European and UK support tour with Wild Beasts.
The Hands That Thieve is the fifth studio album by the American ska-punk band Streetlight Manifesto. It is their first studio album since 2010's 99 Songs of Revolution: Vol. 1, and their first album of original material since 2007's Somewhere in the Between. In addition to the Streetlight album, an acoustic version of the album (titled The Hand That Thieves) was intended to be released by Toh Kay, but was cancelled. The album was originally set to be released in the summer of 2012, but was pushed back several times due to label problems and rewrites, to its eventual release date of April 30, 2013. The album has received very positive critical response.
The band completed the album in mid-January, and it was announced on February 15 that the album would be finally released on April 30. The band also planned to produce a live EP to compensate for the various delays, which the band claimed would be "an exclusive RISC Store gift and...the only professional live Streetlight Manifesto recording to date." On April 1, the band released the first full song from the album "The Three of Us". On April 19 the album was leaked on many sites. On April 30, the album was released as planned, but due to conflicts with Victory Records, the band was prevented from releasing the album and fulfilling preorders from their own website. There were also claims that the live EP was canceled due to legal issues.

This is Streetlight Manifesto's second music video, this time for "Would You Be Impressed?" from the record "Somewhere In The Between". It was animated by Jurjen Bosklopper http://www.jurjenbosklopper.nl The creation of this video was funded entirely by the band, after our label refused to help us make a second video for our record. Our record label forced YouTube to remove our last music video from our account by claiming that using our own recorded music was a "copyright violation". If this video disappears from our account, we just want everyone to understand why. If you dig our band, or any band for that matter, make sure your support goes straight to the band and not to the companies that often times reap the benefits of the band's success without actually ever helping the ban...

Artist: Dutch Uncles Label: Memphis Industries Song: Streetlight (p) and (c) Memphis Industries Ltd 2017 Manchester’s idiosyncratic art-popologists Dutch Uncles return with Big Balloon, their new studio album, on February 17 on Memphis Industries. This week the band shares their latest single Streetlight. "'Streetlight' is about becoming content with your loneliness," Dutch Uncles' vocalist Duncan Wallis explains. "It’s about being skeptical, but aware and open to new chances at connecting again. It’s about realizing your own needs, possibly for the first time." Taking musical inspiration from Kate Bush's The Red Shoes, Low-era David Bowie, some slightly-less fashionable records belonging to their Dads and East European techno, Big Balloon is the fifth Dutch Uncles studio album and the ...
Iâ€ll wait for something under a streetlight
It wonâ€t be long
Because itâ€s dark, itâ€s cold
Itâ€s one of those nights
Itâ€s one of those nights where
Thereâ€s something out there
Keeps me alive
But I donâ€t know where to go
So I think Iâ€ll sit and stay here a while
Till I figure it out
So let the wind blow us
To wherever it says
We are supposed to go
When you want something but canâ€t name it
Itâ€s under a streetlight
Itâ€s something youâ€ve never seen before
Open the door
Itâ€s something youâ€ve always been afraid of
Itâ€s under a streetlight
And now all you want is more
But donâ€t know where to go
So I think Iâ€ll sit and stay here a while
Till I figure it out
So let the wind blow us
To wherever it says
We are supposed to go
Let the wind blow us
To wherever it says
We are supposed to go
I donâ€t mind the wait itâ€s fine
As long as you know
Itâ€s the wait that could be the something
I donâ€t know where to go
So I think Iâ€ll sit and stay here a while
Till I figure it out
So let the wind blow us
To wherever it says
We are supposed to go
So let the wind blow us
To wherever it says
We are supposed to go
