Douglas was killed instantly when his sprint car flipped after hitting a lapped car on the last lap of the consolation race at the California Mid-Winter Fair in El Centro, CA. The car went end-over-end several times and Douglas was thrown from the car.
Douglas started racing in 1949 at Lincoln Park Stadium in Los Angeles in 1949. He had raced with the California Racing Association (CRA) since 1955 and was a regular competitor on the circuit. Douglas had set a new track record at Hanford Speedway just two weeks earlier.
Ray Douglas lived in San Gabriel, CA with his wife, Kay, and four children. He was buried in Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, CA.
A month after his death, the CRA held a benefit movie party with the proceeds going to the family.

Joseph Frank "Buster" Keaton (October 4, 1895 – February 1, 1966) was an American comic actor, filmmaker, producer and writer. He was best known for his silent films, in which his trademark was physical comedy with a consistently stoic, deadpan expression, earning him the nickname "The Great Stone Face".
Buster Keaton (his lifelong stage name) was recognized as the seventh-greatest director of all time by Entertainment Weekly. In 1999, the American Film Institute ranked Keaton the 21st-greatest male star of all time. Critic Roger Ebert wrote of Keaton's "extraordinary period from 1920 to 1929, [when] he worked without interruption on a series of films that make him, arguably, the greatest actor-director in the history of the movies."
Orson Welles stated that Keaton's The General is "the greatest comedy ever made, the greatest Civil War film ever made, and perhaps the greatest film ever made."
A 2002 worldwide poll by Sight & Sound ranked Keaton's The General as the 15th best film of all time. Three other Keaton films received votes in the magazine's survey: Our Hospitality, Sherlock, Jr., and The Navigator.

Douglas was killed instantly when his sprint car flipped after hitting a lapped car on the last lap of the consolation race at the California Mid-Winter Fair in El Centro, CA. The car went end-over-end several times and Douglas was thrown from the car. Douglas started racing in 1949 at Lincoln Park Stadium in Los Angeles in 1949. He had raced with the California Racing Association (CRA) since 1955 and was a regular competitor on the circuit. Douglas had set a new track record at Hanford Speedway just two weeks earlier. Ray Douglas lived in San Gabriel, CA with his wife, Kay, and four children. He was buried in Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, CA. A month after his death, the CRA held a benefit movie party with the proceeds going to the family. -

Years of safety testing... major precautionary steps -- all to make sure the waste isolation pilot plant near carlsbad was safe. now after 15 years-- it appears kitty litter may have shut the plant down. ryan luby investigates a bizarre theory on how the pet product may have caused the february radiation leak at wipp. ryan... yes, we're talking about the type of cat litter you can buy at your local grocery store. the scientist says the cheap, clay cat litter actually makes nuclear waste safer to ship. but he believes someone switched to a different type of litter, causing that leak inside this big room at wipp. talk about opening a can of worms! bet you didn't know the stuff that gives you a breath of fresh air next to the litter box, also lets nuclear scientists breathe a sigh of relief. doctor jim conca, who once monitored wipp for years, recently addressed this idea on forbes. that's how it's supposed to go at least. but he believes the people who packed some of the drums that went to wipp, which then leaked, likely switched to an organic cat litter. he says it has a different chemical compound, which likely caused pressure to build up inside the drums themselves. he says proof is in the pictures -- the fact that burn marks appeared around the edges of the drums, and the fact that the rest of the room is intact. seeing that, he believes fault lies not with wipp, but with the company that brought those drums to wipp. that company never called or wrote me back. jim says none of this would have ever been an issue if this room had reached capacity, and been sealed up. there are lots of rooms like this. wipp is a final resting place for all that waste, buried nearly a half mile underground, in a salt basin that's nearly impentrable.

Years of safety testing... major precautionary steps -- all to make sure the waste isolation pilot plant near carlsbad was safe. . ryan luby investigates a bizarre theory on how the pet product may have caused the february radiation leak at wipp. ryan... yes, we're talking about the type of cat litter you can buy at your local grocery store. the scientist says the cheap, clay cat litter actually makes nuclear waste safer to ship. but he believes someone switched to a different type of litter, causing that leak inside this big room at wipp. talk about opening a can of worms! bet you didn't know the stuff that gives you a breath of fresh air next to the litter box, also lets nuclear scientists breathe a sigh of relief. doctor jim conca, who once monitored wipp for years, recently addressed this idea on forbes. that's how it's supposed to go at least. but he believes the people who packed some of the drums that went to wipp, which then leaked, likely switched to an organic cat litter. he says it has a different chemical compound, which likely caused pressure to build up inside the drums themselves. he says proof is in the pictures -- the fact that burn marks appeared around the edges of the drums, and the fact that the rest of the room is intact. seeing that, he believes fault lies not with wipp, but with the company that brought those drums to wipp. that company never called or wrote me back. jim says none of this would have ever been an issue if this room had reached capacity, and been sealed up. there are lots of rooms like this. wipp is a final resting place for all that waste, buried nearly a half mile underground, in a salt basin that's nearly impentrable.
