Donald Shebib (born 17 January 1938 in Toronto), often called Don Shebib, is a Canadian film director, writer, producer and editor. A graduate of UCLA film school, Shebib gained prominence and critical acclaim in Canadian cinema for his seminal 1970 movie Goin' Down the Road, which combined narrative storytelling with Canadian documentary tradition influenced by the British. The low-budget film crew travelled around Toronto in a station wagon, supported by funding from the newly-formed Canadian Film Development Corporation. The movie was screened in New York and hailed by Pauline Kael and Roger Ebert. Kael wrote that the movie showed up the ostensibly forced sincerity and perceived honesty of the films of John Cassavetes. Shebib is the father of Noah "40" Shebib. Goin' Down the Road was digitally remastered as one of the key films in the Canadian film canon and was honoured with a screening at the Art Gallery of Ontario. A sequel was shot in 2011, called "Goin' Down the Road Again," featuring some of the original cast members as well as a new generation of characters.
"Goin' Down" is the song by British singer-songwriter, Melanie C. Written by Chisholm, Julian Gallagher and Richard Stannard for her debut solo album Northern Star (1999). The song was produced by Marius De Vries and received a mixed reception from music critics. The song was released as the first single in the third quarter of 1999 and reached the top ten in the United Kingdom, where it became her second top five single. It reached the top twenty in Australia and the top fifty in Canada. In the UK the single sold 92,645 copies, becoming the 179th best selling single of 1999. Its music video was banned by some music television stations due to its violent content and offensive language.
The music video was shot in Los Angeles in July of 1999 the video sees Melanie with a short, blonde, spikey crop (it is shorter than on the CD-cover). She is seen dancing and jumping intensely with a microphone wearing a plaid skirt. There are scenes of people dancing in a big club-like warehouse with policeman driving outside, as they are seen trying to get in. Melanie is in the club throughout the whole video with wind and some water vapor being sprayed towards her in slow motion. Joc is shown driving an antique Pontiac that has a Cadillac label on the side.
The Road is a 2006 novel by American writer Cormac McCarthy. It is a post-apocalyptic tale of a journey of a father and his young son over a period of several months, across a landscape blasted by an unspecified cataclysm that has destroyed most of civilization and, in the intervening years, almost all life on Earth. The novel was awarded the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for Fiction in 2006.
The book was adapted to a film by the same name in 2009, directed by John Hillcoat.
An unnamed father and his young son journey across a grim post-apocalyptic landscape, some years after an unspecified disaster has caused another extinction event, destroying civilization and most life on Earth. The land is filled with ash and devoid of living animals and vegetation. Many of the remaining human survivors have resorted to cannibalism, scavenging the detritus of city and country alike for flesh. The boy's mother, pregnant with him at the time of the disaster, gave up hope and committed suicide some time before the story began, despite the father's pleas. Much of the book is written in the third person, with references to "the father" and "the son" or to "the man" and "the boy".
Down the Road may refer to:
Satan's Choice MC was a Canadian outlaw motorcycle club that was once the dominant outlaw club in Ontario, and at the peak of its power in 1977, had 12 chapters based in Ontario, with one in Montreal, Quebec. However, its power began to diminish during the 1970s, with some of the clubs chapters "patching over" to the Outlaws MC in 1977. The remaining chapters would eventually become members of the Hell's Angels along with most of the other major outlaw clubs in Ontario.
The founding chapter of the first iteration of Satan's Choice was established during the late 1950s in Toronto, usually hanging around "Aida's", a downtown restaurant. This version of Satan's Choice was small in size, only numbering about 45 members, and had a very casual, non-criminal focus at the time. This club would disband in 1963, but went on to serve as the namesake for a group of four other motorcycle clubs which came together as the new Satan's Choice in 1965, namely the Phantom Riders, the Canadian Lancers, the Throttle Twisters, and the Wild Ones. Former Phantom Riders president Bernie Guindon would become the president of this newer, larger version of Satan's Choice, and would later become their national president as the group expanded. The group regulated itself somewhat differently from most motorcycle clubs such as the Hell's Angels, using a series of bylaws instead of a single written constitution or charter.

This is the opening song to the 1970 Canadian movie "Goin' Down The Road" by Donald Shebib, which tells the tale of two jobless Cape Breton men who move to Toronto in hopes of finding employment and a better life. The movie portrays an era when many Canadians living in the Maritimes were economically troubled, and often had to move west to make a living. "Goin' Down The Road" is often said to be one of the greatest Canadian films of all time. LYRICS (These lyrics are NOT 100%, as the official lyrics have never been published as far as I'm aware. LibriVox recording of The Prairie by James Fenimore Cooper. Read by William Peck. The story opens with Ishmael, his family, Ellen and Abiram slowly making their way across the virgin prairies of the Midwest looking for a homestead, just two years after the Louisiana Purchase, and during the time of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. They meet the trapper (Natty Bumppo), who has left his home in New York state to find a place where he cannot hear the sound of people cutting down the forests. In the years between his other adventures and this novel, he tells us only that he has walked all the way to the Pacific Ocean and seen all the land between the coasts (a heroic feat, considering Lewis and Clark hadn’t yet completed the same trek). A 27 minute documentary about the origins of Canada's Satan's Choice motorcycle club, produced by Tom Daly and directed by Donald Shebib. The TV show was filmed in 1965 by the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) and seen on television in 1966. The music in the film is provided by The Sparrow (not "the Sparrows", as the Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of Rock & Roll prefers to call them). The Sparrow were part of the Yorkville folk music scene in Toronto in the mid-'60's, along with others soon to be famous such as Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and Rick James. The Sparrow are much better known under the name the reformed group adopted in L.A. in 1968, Steppenwolf.
