Daniel "Dan" Brown (born June 22, 1964) is an American author of thriller fiction who is best known for the 2003 bestselling novel The Da Vinci Code. Brown's novels are treasure hunts set in a 24-hour period, and feature the recurring themes of cryptography, keys, symbols, codes, and conspiracy theories. His books have been translated into 52 languages, and as of 2012, sold over 200 million copies. Three of them, Angels & Demons (2000), The Da Vinci Code (2003), and Inferno (2013), have been/are being adapted into films.

Novelist Dan Brown (The Da Vinci Code) has donated € 300,000 to the Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica to digitize and preserve part of its priceless collection, including Hermetica, alchemy, mysticism, Rosicrucians and Kabbala. Thanks to Brown’s donation, the public will be able to access the core collection of some 4,600 ancient books online in the near future. Brown is a great admirer of the library (widely known as The Ritman Library after its founder Joost R. Ritman) and visited on several occasions while writing his novels The Lost Symbol and Inferno. “I consider it a great honor,” the world-famous author said, “to play a role in this important preservation initiative that will make these texts available to the public." Dan Brown's book The Da Vinci Code may be a novel, but Brown claims that his book is based on research and that all the art, architecture and secret societies he describes are real. It's a controversial claim because, if based in truth, The Da Vinci Code threatens to turn our view of history on its head. Millions of readers have been hooked, but what do historians think of the book and do its major claims stand up to scrutiny? Has the truth about the Holy Grail been suppressed by the Catholic Church? Has the Grail been kept safe by powerful secret societies? And is the real truth about the Grail encoded into Leonardo's great painting of the Last Supper? Tony Robinson sets out to discover the facts about the Holy Grail and cut through the thicket of mystery that surrounds the subject. Li...
Theatrical trailer for Ron Howard's 2006 movie starring Tom Hanks as symbologist Robert Lagdon, and based on Dan Brown's reknown novel. A murder inside the Louvre and clues in Da Vinci paintings lead to the discovery of a religious mystery protected by a secret society for two thousand years -- which could shake the foundations of Christianity. Near the end of the movie's trailer, the word "SEEK" in the phrase "Seek the Truth" is highlighted. Then, when the cast names are shown, the letters T, H, S, E, C, D, E and O are highlighted. If you rearrange the highlighted letters and add the word, you get the phrase "SEEK THE CODES".

The film of Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code enthralled and enraged in equal measure. Is there any truth to this sensational story? This documentary investigates whether there was an intimate relationship between Jesus and Mary Magdalene and also visits the ancient Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland, which featured prominently in director Ron Howard's box office hit.
Tom Hanks' new film Inferno is tearing up the international box office. Why? Because apparently someone somewhere likes these movies. NEW YORK (AP) — Dan Brown's next thriller is set to come out next fall. Doubleday announced Wednesday that the novel is called "Origin" and is scheduled for Sept. The story will feature Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon, the protagonist for Brown's mega-selling "The Da Vinci Code" and such blockbusters as "Inferno" and "Angels & Demons." According to Doubleday, "Origin" will feature Brown's usual blend of "codes, science, religion, history, art and architecture."
