What Previous Grant Applicants Say

The grant from the AHMT has supported me in recording for the first time. It has meant my song ‘No Engines for the Junta’ is being featured on two CDs, one produced for the anniversary of Victor Jara’s murder and one of The People’s Voice: Celebrating the Janey Buchan Political Song Collection. This experience has also given me confidence to record more of my songs in the future.
Dave Featherstone
I wanted to play at Occupy Wall Street encampments, but needed help with the gas money. There aren’t many foundations that I know of that would be sympathetic to such a thing, but most certainly, Alistair Hulett Memorial Trust is one of them!
David Rovics
I was delighted to receive a grant from the Alistair Hulett Memorial Trust in 2012. It enabled me, along with four other musicians, to go into Diving Bell Lounge studio in Glasgow to record a track for inclusion on a forthcoming compilation of songs from the Janey Buchan Political Song Collection at the University of Glasgow. This recording session would have been impossible without the Trust’s generous financial contribution. Providing funds to facilitate musical recording sessions is only one of the many kinds of projects which The Alistair Hulett Memorial Trust is keen to support, by performers, musicians, artists and activists, individuals and groups alike; long may its good work continue!
