The New York City Police Department released the body-camera footage of a deadly police-involved encounter, the first such recording since officers started wearing the devices. Police fatally shot Miguel Richards, a 31-year-old Bronx man, on September 6. Cops came to the apartment for a wellness check, in response to a call from Richards’s landlord. Police said found the 31-year-old armed with a knife and what appeared to be a gun. Richards refused the officers’ commands to drop the weapons, and three officers fired, two with pistols and one with a stun gun. The gun Richards raised was a toy pistol. The department published the approximately 16-minute compilation video of the incident Thursday afternoon, stitching together footage from the responding officers’ body cameras. The NYPD said it “produced this video for clear viewing of the event as a totality,” but also posted each of the four individual officers’ unedited body-camera recordings.
The video hews to the cops’ account of the incident. A man – apparently Richards – stands in a room, with an officer shining a flashlight on him from outside the doorways. Cops ask over and over again – WABC counted 44 times – to drop his knife, and later, the gun. (The officers say on the video before the shooting that they are unsure whether the gun is real or fake.) Another man in the room also pleads with Richards to drop his knife and put up his hand. “Put the knife down, brother,” he asks. “Put the knife down brother, I’m begging you.” Cops fire their weapons after Richards appears to raise his hands with the toy gun. NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill told the department he decided to release the footage in the interest of transparency with the public. “We are doing this because the NYPD is committed to being as transparent as possible with respect to the release of body-worn camera video in these critical incidents,” the commissioner wrote in a memo to cops.
“Transparency is one of the many ways this department can continue to keep and build on the trust each of you has worked so hard to earn from members of the community all across our city.” He added that the “level of direction and restraint excercised by members of the NYPD is nothing short of exceptional. Releasing footage from critical incidents like this will help firmly establish your restraint in the use of force, and will plainly exhibit to the public your reasonable and judicious use of force when that force becomes necessary.” The NYPD began officially rolling out its body camera program this April to a few hundred officers, with the goal of equipping the entire 22,000-plus force by 2019. This is the first such recoding of a police-involved fatal shooting, and was released over the objections of the Brooklyn D.A. who wanted to make public the video after she completed her investigation. The PBA, the city’ largest police union, also resisted the release of the video, warning of a “dangerous precedent.”

On Tuesday night, Cardi B claimed that an NYPD officer placed her in a chokehold in a pair of since-deleted tweets. She hasn’t provided any additional details concerning the alleged incident, but on Wednesday, her boyfriend Offset spoke about it and revealed what he said to her after it took place. He also took aim at the hip-hop police and said they are real. As of now, Cardi B has not filed a formal complaint against the NYPD and there was no report or citation issued after the incident.

New York City Police Department
The New York City Police Department (NYPD or NYCPD), officially the City of New York Police Department, was established in 1845 and is the largest municipal police force in the United States, having primary responsibilities in law enforcement and investigation within the five boroughs of New York City. The NYPD is one of the oldest police departments established in the United States, tracing its roots back to the seventeenth century.
The NYPD has a broad array of specialized services, including the Emergency Service Unit, K9, harbor patrol, air support, bomb disposal, counter-terrorism, criminal intelligence, anti-gang, anti-organized crime, narcotics, public transportation and public housing; the New York City Transit Police and New York City Housing Authority Police Department were fully integrated into the NYPD in 1995. According to the department, its mission is to "enforce the laws, preserve the peace, reduce fear, and provide for a safe environment." The department's regulations are compiled in title 38 of the New York City Rules.

CBS This Morning
CBS This Morning is an American morning television program that is broadcast on CBS. The program, which shares its title with a more traditionally formatted morning program that aired on the network from 1987 to 1999, airs Monday through Saturdays from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. in all time zones (airing live in the Eastern Time Zone and on tape-delay in the Central and Mountain Time Zones; stations in the Pacific Time Zone receive an updated feed with a specialized opening and updated live reports). It is the tenth distinct morning news-features program format that CBS has aired since 1954, having replaced The Early Show on January 9, 2012.
The weekday edition of the program is currently anchored by Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell. The program emphasizes general national and international news stories and in-depth reports throughout each edition, although it also includes live in-studio and pre-taped interviews. The format was chosen as an alternative to the soft news and lifestyle-driven formats of competitors Today and Good Morning America following the first hour or half-hour of those broadcasts, in an attempt to give the program a competitive edge with its hard news format (CBS has historically placed third in the ratings among the network morning shows).

Completely flooding the streets of Manhattan. NYPD was not hyped. Not only were they on bicycles and in cars, but they were also on scooters trying to weasel and make any move they possibly could! Starting off our Saturday morning at Harlem's newest skatepark and getting chased out by construction workers. We had to follow up Sunday for the am session. Following that, we met up with New Jersey's very own Tj Luther and showed him around NYC. Then hit the famous dollar dumpling in chinatown, and prank'd the Chinese lady with 100 pennies. Cruised the Brooklyn banks and got a heavy session in and then ended off the day at the seaport ledges. Overall an amazing day and very interesting to say the least. Police fatally shot Miguel Richards, a 31-year-old Bronx man, on September 6. Cops came to the apartment for a wellness check, in response to a call from Richards’s landlord. Police said found the 31-year-old armed with a knife and what appeared to be a gun. Richards refused the officers’ commands to drop the weapons, and three officers fired, two with pistols and one with a stun gun. The gun Richards raised was a toy pistol. The department published the approximately 16-minute compilation video of the incident Thursday afternoon...

On Tuesday night, Cardi B claimed that an NYPD officer placed her in a chokehold in a pair of since-deleted tweets. She hasn’t provided any additional details concerning the alleged incident, but on Wednesday, her boyfriend Offset spoke about it and revealed what he said to her after it took place. Starting off our Saturday morning at Harlem's newest skatepark and getting chased out by construction workers. We had to follow up Sunday for the am session. The New York City Police Department released the body-camera footage of a deadly police-involved encounter, the first such recording since officers started wearing the devices. Police fatally shot Miguel Richards, a 31-year-old Bronx man, on September 6. Cops came to the apartment for a wellness check, in response to a call from Richards’s landlord. Police said found the 31-year-old armed with a knife and what appeared to be a gun. Richards refused the officers’ commands to drop the weapons, and three officers fired, two with pistols and one with a stun gun. The gun Richards raised was a toy pistol. The department published the approximately 16-minute compilation video of the incident Thursday afternoon, stitching together footage from the responding officers’ body cameras. The NYPD said it “produced this video for clear viewing of the event as a totality,” but also posted each of the four individual officers’ unedited body-camera recordings.
The video hews to the cops’ account of the incident. A man – apparently Richards – stands in a room, with an officer shining a flashlight on him from outside the doorways. Cops ask over and over again – WABC counted 44 times – to drop his knife, and later, the gun. (The officers say on the video before the shooting that they are unsure whether the gun is real or fake.) Another man in the room also pleads with Richards to drop his knife and put up his hand. “Put the knife down, brother,” he asks. “Put the knife down brother, I’m begging you.” Cops fire their weapons after Richards appears to raise his hands with the toy gun. NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill told the department he decided to release the footage in the interest of transparency with the public. “We are doing this because the NYPD is committed to being as transparent as possible with respect to the release of body-worn camera video in these critical incidents,” the commissioner wrote in a memo to cops.
“Transparency is one of the many ways this department can continue to keep and build on the trust each of you has worked so hard to earn from members of the community all across our city.” He added that the “level of direction and restraint excercised by members of the NYPD is nothing short of exceptional. Releasing footage from critical incidents like this will help firmly establish your restraint in the use of force, and will plainly exhibit to the public your reasonable and judicious use of force when that force becomes necessary.” The NYPD began officially rolling out its body camera program this April to a few hundred officers, with the goal of equipping the entire 22,000-plus force by 2019. This is the first such recoding of a police-involved fatal shooting, and was released over the objections of the Brooklyn D.A. who wanted to make public the video after she completed her investigation. The PBA, the city’ largest police union, also resisted the release of the video, warning of a “dangerous precedent.”

On Tuesday night, Cardi B claimed that an NYPD officer placed her in a chokehold in a pair of since-deleted tweets. She hasn’t provided any additional details concerning the alleged incident, but on Wednesday, her boyfriend Offset spoke about it and revealed what he said to her after it took place. He also took aim at the hip-hop police and said they are real. As of now, Cardi B has not filed a formal complaint against the NYPD and there was no report or citation issued after the incident.

NYPD TRYS TO SHUTDOWN 1000+ SAVAGE BIKE RIDERS IN MANHATTAN! Somehow we ended up in the middle of an RRDBLOCKS "rideout" jam that was massive and chaotic. Completely flooding the streets of Manhattan. NYPD was not hyped. Not only were they on bicycles and in cars, but they were also on scooters trying to weasel and make any move they possibly could! Starting off our Saturday morning at Harlem's newest skatepark and getting chased out by construction workers. We had to follow up Sunday for the am session. Following that, we met up with New Jersey's very own Tj Luther and showed him around NYC. Then hit the famous dollar dumpling in chinatown, and prank'd the Chinese lady with 100 pennies. Cruised the Brooklyn banks and got a heavy session in and then ended off the day at the seaport ledges. Overall an amazing day and very interesting to say the least.
