Baltimore County Police got involved in a shootout with Blaine Robert Erb, 35 on June 7th 2017. Erb was killed by police during the incident. Officer First Class Slocum and a bystander were wounded.
Police responded to the report of an armed robbery in progress. When arriving at the scene police learned the suspect fled onto the No 10 Maryland Transit Administration bus. When an officer stopped the bus near Logan Village Shopping Center the suspect opened fire on police.
Police said 4 officers opened fire on the suspect, they have been placed on administrative leave. The suspect was found in possession of two .40-caliber handguns as well as spare magazines and ammunition. The suspect has a lengthy criminal history and is prohibited from possessing firearms.
The other officers involved were Police Officers First Class Carver, Leary and Minton. Due to an agreement with the police union the first names of officers are not released. The last name of the fourth officer will not be released as they are assigned to a sensitive undercover assignment.

The Kent County prosecutor says Grand Rapids officers were justified in fatal shooting of 18-year-old man during a gun battle earlier this month. Prosecutor Chris Becker released his decision Tuesday, along with dash camera and body camera video showing the May 3 shooting of Malik Carey. The footage from dashcams and bodycams shows officers approach Carey as he was seated in the back seat of a car on Dickinson Street near Kalamazoo Avenue SE. They were looking for him in coordination with Grand Rapids Public Schools because he hadn’t been showing up for class. Prosecutors say Carey gave a fake name, so officers waited to get a picture of him to confirm he was the person they were looking for. In the meantime, Carey and one of the officers chatted nonchalantly about Carey’s dreadlocks.
But once officers confirmed Carey’s identity, things turned violent. Prosecutors highlighted portions of the video that show Carey pulling a gun from his waistband. The officers scrambled back, one of them shouting, “gun, gun, gun, gun.” Shots rang out. Police say Carey got off four shots before officers returned fire. It sounded in the video as though a total of about 15 shots were exchanged. Carey died at the hospital. No police officers were shot. The police chief and the prosecutor said officers acted appropriately given the circumstances. In fact, Becker said that had Carey survived, he would have been charged with attempted murder. “They had no other option,” Grand Rapids Police Chief David Rahinsky said, speaking to reporters after the video was released. “It just goes, in my mind, to reinforce just how dangerous a profession that law enforcement is.”
“I think they’re very lucky,” Prosecutor Becker said as he released his decision. “You look how close that was — that photograph of the gun pointed — and there’s two officers right there. But for the grace of God, neither one of them got hit.” The three officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, which is standard procedure. Two have already returned to work, and the third should be back on the job soon. Carey, of Grand Rapids, was a probation absconder and has a criminal history dating back to 2010, when he was 12. In 2015, he was charged with assault with intent to murder in connection to a Kentwood shooting, though he later pleaded to a less serious charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm.

Several people are recovering in South Carolina hospitals after a seaside shootout in Myrtle Beach.
Myrtle Beach Police say officers were dispatched to the area as a large crowd was gathering. A fight broke out, and one of the thugs pulled a gun and fired at the crowd.
An armed security officer witnessed the shooting and shot at the gunman, who carjacked a vehicle and got away as he sprayed gunfire all around the area.
Several people were treated for gunshot wounds and other non-life-threatening injuries, this was the third shooting in Myrtle Beach within 12 hours.

Officials on Thursday released video from a fatal officer-involved shooting in Buckeye in 2016 that occurred as officers responded to reports that a man had shot his wife. A review determined the officers were justified in the shooting, according to a May 30 letter sent from the Maricopa County Attorney's Office to the Buckeye Police Department. Police were called to a house near Wayland Drive and 238th Avenue in Buckeye on June 25, 2016, after receiving a call from California that 30-year-old William Ferguson had fatally shot his wife, 36-year-old Breanne Ferguson, according to the Buckeye Police Department. A "heavily armed" Ferguson approached investigating Officers A. Price and Larry Biffin in a white Dodge pickup before leaving the vehicle and "ambushing the officers with an assault rifle," police said. The video released Thursday from an officer's body camera shows the two officers near a police vehicle on a neighborhood street when the pickup truck appears. The officers notice the pickup truck and are talking about the situation, when gunfire erupts. Body-camera footage shows Biffin taking cover behind a patrol vehicle and firing back at Ferguson, discharging numerous rounds. Ferguson's ambush continued with a second round of gunfire that shattered the window of the patrol vehicle, police said.
Officer Justin Ricks arrived at the scene to assist the officers, firing multiple rounds from his AR-15 patrol rifle at Ferguson and stopping Ferguson's attack, police said. Ferguson had been shot in the shoulder during the standoff and moments later took his own life, police said. Inside the home, officers found the body of Breanne Ferguson, who had been shot multiple times, as well as two children who were unharmed and taken to safety, police said. Evidence obtained at the scene linked Ferguson to his wife's death, police said. The children were later placed in the care of family members, police said. The Arizona Department of Public Safety conducted an investigation into the shooting while Buckeye detectives investigated the death of the woman, police said. The officers were placed on a standard three-day administrative leave following the incident, police said. The Buckeye Police Department praised its 2011 policy that issued AR-15 rifles to all officers to have on the street, saying it "proved valuable" in the incident. The delay in releasing the video came at the request of the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, which asked police to wait until the case was resolved before distributing the footage, the Buckeye Police Department said.

Shootout
A shootout is a gun battle between armed groups. A shootout often, but not necessarily, pits law enforcement against criminal elements; it could also involve two groups outside of law enforcement, such as rival gangs. A shootout in a war-like context (i.e. regularly constituted armed forces or even guerrilla or insurgent forces) would usually be considered a battle (depending on size), rather than a shootout. Shootouts are often portrayed in action films and western films.

The Greatest Shootout in the West
On December 19, 1854, while trekking on a miner's trail in along the North Fork of the American River, Dr. Bolivar Sparks, James McDonald and Captain Jonathan Davis were bushwhacked by an international band of bandits. The bandits, a Frenchman, two Americans, two Englishmen, four Mexicans and four Australians, had recently robbed and killed four American miners on December 18, 1854, and six Chinese miners on December 17, 1854. McDonald was killed instantly, and Dr. Sparks was fatally wounded, however Captain Davis, an Army veteran, pulled out both of his pistols and killed seven of the bandits in quick order. Out of bullets, Captain Davis, an expert fencer, pulled out his Bowie knife and killed four more of his attackers. The surviving bandits fled for their lives. The shootout was witnessed by a group of miners, who buried the bodies of the dead.

Grand Rapids, Michigan
Grand Rapids is the second-largest city in the U.S. state of Michigan, and the largest city in West Michigan. It is located on the Grand River about 30 miles east of Lake Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 188,040. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Myrtle Beach /ˈmɜːrtəlˈbiːtʃ/ is a coastal city on the east coast of the United States in Horry County, South Carolina. It is situated on the center of a large and continuous stretch of beach known as the Grand Strand in northeastern South Carolina.
Myrtle Beach is one of the major centers of tourism in the United States because of the city's warm subtropical climate and extensive beaches, attracting an estimated 14 million visitors each year. As of the 2010 census, the population of the city was 27,109 with the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area population at 465,391 according to a 2013 estimate.
Geography
A man-made island, Myrtle Beach has been separated from the continental United States since 1936 by the Intracoastal Waterway, forcing the city and area in general to develop within a small distance from the coast. In part due to this separation, the area directly west of Myrtle Beach across the waterway remained primarily rural, whereas its northern and southern ends were bordered by other developed tourist towns, North Myrtle Beach and Surfside Beach. Since then, the inland portion of the Myrtle Beach area has developed dramatically and the beach itself is developing westward.

Several people are recovering in South Carolina hospitals after a seaside shootout in Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach Police say officers were dispatched to the area as a large crowd was gathering. A fight broke out, and one of the thugs pulled a gun and fired at the crowd. An armed security officer witnessed the shooting and shot at the gunman, who carjacked a vehicle and got away as he sprayed gunfire all around the area. Several people were treated for gunshot wounds and other non-life-threatening injuries, this was the third shooting in Myrtle Beach within 12 hours.

Prosecutors say Carey gave a fake name, so officers waited to get a picture of him to confirm he was the person they were looking for. In the meantime, Carey and one of the officers chatted nonchalantly about Carey’s dreadlocks.
But once officers confirmed Carey’s identity, things turned violent. Prosecutors highlighted portions of the video that show Carey pulling a gun from his waistband. The officers scrambled back, one of them shouting, “gun, gun, gun, gun.” Shots rang out. Police say Carey got off four shots before officers returned fire. It sounded in the video as though a total of about 15 shots were exchanged. Carey died at the hospital. No police officers were shot. The police chief and the prosecutor said officers acted appropriately given the circumstances. In fact, Becker said that had Carey survived, he would have been charged with attempted murder. “They had no other option,” Grand Rapids Police Chief David Rahinsky said, speaking to reporters after the video was released. “It just goes, in my mind, to reinforce just how dangerous a profession that law enforcement is.”
“I think they’re very lucky,” Prosecutor Becker said as he released his decision. “You look how close that was — that photograph of the gun pointed — and there’s two officers right there. But for the grace of God, neither one of them got hit.” The three officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, which is standard procedure. Two have already returned to work, and the third should be back on the job soon. Carey, of Grand Rapids, was a probation absconder and has a criminal history dating back to 2010, when he was 12. In 2015, he was charged with assault with intent to murder in connection to a Kentwood shooting, though he later pleaded to a less serious charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm.

The video released Thursday from an officer's body camera shows the two officers near a police vehicle on a neighborhood street when the pickup truck appears. The officers notice the pickup truck and are talking about the situation, when gunfire erupts. Body-camera footage shows Biffin taking cover behind a patrol vehicle and firing back at Ferguson, discharging numerous rounds. Ferguson's ambush continued with a second round of gunfire that shattered the window of the patrol vehicle, police said.
Officer Justin Ricks arrived at the scene to assist the officers, firing multiple rounds from his AR-15 patrol rifle at Ferguson and stopping Ferguson's attack, police said. Ferguson had been shot in the shoulder during the standoff and moments later took his own life, police said. Inside the home, officers found the body of Breanne Ferguson, who had been shot multiple times, as well as two children who were unharmed and taken to safety, police said. Evidence obtained at the scene linked Ferguson to his wife's death, police said. The children were later placed in the care of family members, police said. The Arizona Department of Public Safety conducted an investigation into the shooting while Buckeye detectives investigated the death of the woman, police said. The officers were placed on a standard three-day administrative leave following the incident, police said. The Buckeye Police Department praised its 2011 policy that issued AR-15 rifles to all officers to have on the street, saying it "proved valuable" in the incident. The delay in releasing the video came at the request of the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, which asked police to wait until the case was resolved before distributing the footage, the Buckeye Police Department said.

Several people are recovering in South Carolina hospitals after a seaside shootout in Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach Police say officers were dispatched to the area as a large crowd was gathering. A fight broke out, and one of the thugs pulled a gun and fired at the crowd. An armed security officer witnessed the shooting and shot at the gunman, who carjacked a vehicle and got away as he sprayed gunfire all around the area. Several people were treated for gunshot wounds and other non-life-threatening injuries, this was the third shooting in Myrtle Beach within 12 hours.

The footage from dashcams and bodycams shows officers approach Carey as he was seated in the back seat of a car on Dickinson Street near Kalamazoo Avenue SE. They were looking for him in coordination with Grand Rapids Public Schools because he hadn’t been showing up for class. Prosecutors say Carey gave a fake name, so officers waited to get a picture of him to confirm he was the person they were looking for. In the meantime, Carey and one of the officers chatted nonchalantly about Carey’s dreadlocks.
But once officers confirmed Carey’s identity, things turned violent. Prosecutors highlighted portions of the video that show Carey pulling a gun from his waistband. The officers scrambled back, one of them shouting, “gun, gun, gun, gun.” Shots rang out. Police say Carey got off four shots before officers returned fire. It sounded in the video as though a total of about 15 shots were exchanged. Carey died at the hospital. No police officers were shot. The police chief and the prosecutor said officers acted appropriately given the circumstances. In fact, Becker said that had Carey survived, he would have been charged with attempted murder. “They had no other option,” Grand Rapids Police Chief David Rahinsky said, speaking to reporters after the video was released. “It just goes, in my mind, to reinforce just how dangerous a profession that law enforcement is.”
“I think they’re very lucky,” Prosecutor Becker said as he released his decision. “You look how close that was — that photograph of the gun pointed — and there’s two officers right there. But for the grace of God, neither one of them got hit.” The three officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, which is standard procedure. Two have already returned to work, and the third should be back on the job soon. Carey, of Grand Rapids, was a probation absconder and has a criminal history dating back to 2010, when he was 12. In 2015, he was charged with assault with intent to murder in connection to a Kentwood shooting, though he later pleaded to a less serious charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm.

The video released Thursday from an officer's body camera shows the two officers near a police vehicle on a neighborhood street when the pickup truck appears. The officers notice the pickup truck and are talking about the situation, when gunfire erupts. Body-camera footage shows Biffin taking cover behind a patrol vehicle and firing back at Ferguson, discharging numerous rounds. Ferguson's ambush continued with a second round of gunfire that shattered the window of the patrol vehicle, police said.
Officer Justin Ricks arrived at the scene to assist the officers, firing multiple rounds from his AR-15 patrol rifle at Ferguson and stopping Ferguson's attack, police said. Ferguson had been shot in the shoulder during the standoff and moments later took his own life, police said. Inside the home, officers found the body of Breanne Ferguson, who had been shot multiple times, as well as two children who were unharmed and taken to safety, police said. Evidence obtained at the scene linked Ferguson to his wife's death, police said. The children were later placed in the care of family members, police said. The Arizona Department of Public Safety conducted an investigation into the shooting while Buckeye detectives investigated the death of the woman, police said. The officers were placed on a standard three-day administrative leave following the incident, police said. The Buckeye Police Department praised its 2011 policy that issued AR-15 rifles to all officers to have on the street, saying it "proved valuable" in the incident. The delay in releasing the video came at the request of the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, which asked police to wait until the case was resolved before distributing the footage, the Buckeye Police Department said.
