Holland is a region and former province on the western coast of the Netherlands. The name Holland is also frequently used to informally refer to the whole of the country of the Netherlands. This usage is commonly accepted in other countries, but in the Netherlands and particularly in other regions of the country it could be found undesirable or even insulting.
From the 10th to the 16th century, Holland proper was a unified political region within the Holy Roman Empire as a county ruled by the Counts of Holland. By the 17th century, Holland had risen to become a maritime and economic power, dominating the other provinces of the newly independent Dutch Republic.
The area of the former County of Holland roughly coincides with the two current Dutch provinces of North Holland and South Holland, which together include the Netherlands' three largest cities: the capital city of Amsterdam; Rotterdam, home of Europe's largest port; and the seat of government of The Hague.
Breast cancer is cancer that develops from breast tissue. Signs of breast cancer may include a lump in the breast, a change in breast shape, dimpling of the skin, fluid coming from the nipple, or a red scaly patch of skin. In those with distant spread of the disease, there may be bone pain, swollen lymph nodes, shortness of breath, or yellow skin.
Risk factors for developing breast cancer include: female sex, obesity, lack of physical exercise, drinking alcohol, hormone replacement therapy during menopause, ionizing radiation, early age at first menstruation, having children late or not at all, older age, and family history. About 5–10% of cases are due to genes inherited from a person's parents, including BRCA1 and BRCA2 among others. Breast cancer most commonly develops in cells from the lining of milk ducts and the lobules that supply the ducts with milk. Cancers developing from the ducts are known as ductal carcinomas, while those developing from lobules are known as lobular carcinomas. In addition, there are more than 18 other sub-types of breast cancer. Some cancers develop from pre-invasive lesions such as ductal carcinoma in situ. The diagnosis of breast cancer is confirmed by taking a biopsy of the concerning lump. Once the diagnosis is made, further tests are done to determine if the cancer has spread beyond the breast and which treatments it may respond to.

If you want to ride on rocks, harsh arid land and mountains I guess Morocco would be the place to go, and yep thats what I found. This is definitely a hard barren place and the country is all made upon rock. I arrived by plane into the town of Ozauzazite at 2:30 am and met my guide who was going to take me on my tour. I wanted to travel by myself on this trip as I love to take photos and wanted the opportunity to stop were ever whenever I wanted and take photos without holding up a group. The experience of getting out of Casablanca to Ozauzazite was something out of a circus and arriving in a strange place in the early hours of the morning kept my guard up a little, and traveling for over 22 hours to get to this desert town I was eager to get my head onto a pillow and get some sleep. My gu...
Five cities, three countries, twelve days, my mom, and me. All mashed together because I know no one is going to click through an entire photo album of this stuff. Blink and you may miss something, but that's kind of what it was like being there too. It was a very efficient trip. 7/7: SFO --> ORD Our original itinerary did not include Chicago. There was a crash at SFO the day before we left, so our flight was delayed at origin and we missed our connection from ORD. 7/7 - 7/8: Chicago, ORD --> AMS The next direct flight from O'Hare to Schiphol (Amsterdam) was a full 24 hours later, so we decided to make the best of it by exploring the cultural splendors of Chicago. In the morning, we took the 'L' downtown to the Chicago Art Institute. Sooo much famous stuff there. On our way back, w...
Paris - Amsterdam June, 23rd – July 2nd 2011 DAY 1 June 24: Paris-St Quentin. 1100 meter height, 170 theoretical, practical 185-214 km It was a shock to the system to start with the longest stage on the first day of the tour. In theory it should have been a 170km stage rolling through the crowded streets of Paris, then along the tree- lined canals of north of the city and then onto the rolling grain field of northern France. That was the theory. In practice riders went missing or split into groups and some covered up to 214km on the stage. An amazing effort. The day was picture-perfect in terms of weather and conditions. Former professional rider Andrea Ferragato lead the Allianz and Mondial riders, representing six different countries, five Mondial BUs and five Allianz OEs, along one of...
Nico grew up on a farm in rural Holland, and even though no one in his family had ventured beyond their country, much less their town (his parents didn't even have drivers' licenses), he knew in his bones that it was his destiny to work in the wide world of travel. After graduating from what was then Holland's only college for Travel and Tourism (in Breda), he worked for a time in the Amsterdam tourist office, for KLM airlines, and as a tour guide in the U.S. before finding his true calling in 2001 as a Vantage Cruise Director. Here, he draws upon all the skills he has crafted over the years, and as he points out "I have learned so much more about all of Europe. And what is really helpful is that during and after every cruise we get so much feedback from our travelers, which keeps us alway...
