Neutral Milk Hotel was an American indie rock band formed in Ruston, Louisiana by singer, guitarist, and songwriter Jeff Mangum in the late 1980s. The band is noted for its experimental sound, abstract lyrics and eclectic instrumentation.
The first release under the Neutral Milk Hotel moniker was the 1994 EP Everything Is, a short collection of tracks featuring Mangum. On the band's full-length debut album On Avery Island, which followed shortly thereafter, Mangum was joined by childhood friend and Apples in Stereo frontman Robert Schneider, who contributed production and instrumentation. Upon the album's release, the full band was formed and extensive touring began.
Neutral Milk Hotel released In the Aeroplane Over the Sea in 1998, which became their best-known and most critically acclaimed album. Although the album did not meet commercial success at the time of release, it has gone on to sell over 300,000 copies and received critical acclaim from several publications, including Pitchfork Media, Magnet Magazine, AllMusic, and The Pazz & Jop poll. Despite growing popularity, the group disbanded in 1999 after Mangum became disenchanted with touring and the music press, later having a nervous breakdown.
Sherlock Holmes (/ˈʃɜːrlɒk ˈhoʊmz/) is a fictional character created by British author and physician Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. A London-based "consulting detective" whose abilities border on the fantastic, Holmes is known for his astute logical reasoning, his ability to adopt almost any disguise, and his use of forensic science to solve difficult cases. The character first appeared in print in 1887, and was featured in four novels and 56 short stories by Conan Doyle, as well as later works by other authors. The first novel, A Study in Scarlet, appeared in Beeton's Christmas Annual in 1887 and the second, The Sign of the Four, in Lippincott's Monthly Magazine in 1890. The character's popularity grew with the first series of short stories in The Strand Magazine, beginning with "A Scandal in Bohemia" in 1891; additional short-story series and two novels (published in serial form) appeared from then to 1927. The events in the stories take place from about 1880 to 1914.
All but four stories are narrated by Holmes's friend and biographer, Dr. John H. Watson. Two are narrated by Holmes himself ("The Adventure of the Blanched Soldier" and "The Adventure of the Lion's Mane"), and two others are written in the third person ("The Adventure of the Mazarin Stone" and "His Last Bow"). In two stories ("The Adventure of the Musgrave Ritual" and "The Adventure of the Gloria Scott"), Holmes tells Watson the story from memory, with Watson narrating the frame story. The first and fourth novels, A Study in Scarlet and The Valley of Fear, include long passages of omniscient narrative of events unknown to either Holmes or Watson.
Eden may refer to:
Till or glacial till is unsorted glacial sediment.
Till is derived from the erosion and entrainment of material by the moving ice of a glacier. It is deposited some distance down-ice to form terminal, lateral, medial and ground moraines.
Till is classified into primary deposits, laid down directly by glaciers, and secondary deposits, reworked by fluvial transport and other processes.
Glacial drift is the coarsely graded and extremely heterogeneous sediment of a glacier; till is the part of glacial drift deposited directly by the glacier. Its content may vary from clays to mixtures of clay, sand, gravel, and boulders. This material is mostly derived from the subglacial erosion and entrainment by the moving ice of the glaciers of previously available unconsolidated sediments. Bedrock can also be eroded through the action of glacial plucking and abrasion and the resulting clasts of various sizes will be incorporated to the glacier's bed.
Eventually, the sedimentary assemblage forming this bed will be abandoned some distance down-ice from its various sources. This is the process of glacial till deposition. When this deposition occurs at the base of the moving ice of a glacier, the sediment is called lodgement till. Rarely, eroded unconsolidated sediments can be preserved in the till along with their original sedimentary structures. More commonly, these sediments lose their original structure through the mixture processes associated with subglacial transport and they solely contribute to form the more or less uniform matrix of the till.

There has long been suspicion of a government cover-up of information about the assassination of John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. Most put forth a criminal conspiracy involving parties as varied as the CIA, the KGB, the American Mafia, the Israeli government, FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, sitting Vice President Lyndon Johnson, Cuban president Fidel Castro, anti-Castro Cuban exile groups, the Federal Reserve, or some combination of those entities. In 1979, the United States Hou...

The Great Gildersleeve (1941--1957), initially written by Leonard Lewis Levinson, was one of broadcast history's earliest spin-off programs. Built around Throckmorton Philharmonic Gildersleeve, a character who had been a staple on the classic radio situation comedy Fibber McGee and Molly, first introduced on Oct. 3, 1939, ep. #216. The Great Gildersleeve enjoyed its greatest success in the 1940s. Actor Harold Peary played the character during its transition from the parent show into the spin-off and later in a quartet of feature films released at the height of the show's popularity. On Fibber McGee and Molly, Peary's Gildersleeve was a pompous windbag who became a consistent McGee nemesis. "You're a haa-aa-aa-aard man, McGee!" became a Gildersleeve catchphrase. The radio show Calling All Cars hired LAPD radio dispacher Jesse Rosenquist to be the voice of the dispatcher. Rosenquist was already famous because home radios could tune into early police radio frequencies. As the first police radio dispatcher presented to the public ear, his was the voice that actors went to when called upon for a radio dispatcher role. The iconic television series Dragnet, with LAPD Detective Joe Friday as the primary character, was the first major media representation of the department. Real LAPD operations inspired Jack Webb to create the series and close cooperation with department officers let him make it as realistic as possible, including authentic police equipment and sound recording on-site at the police station. Due to Dragnet's popularity, LAPD Chief Parker...

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is the police department of the city of Los Angeles, California. A very special solo show by Jeff. Here’s some context: This is Jeff’s second show since recording Aeroplane. The first show played no new material, so this is the really first post-Aeroplane show. Jeff also gives one of his best performances. Lung capacity at a maximum. Probably the best performance of ‘Gardenhead/Leave Me Alone’ ever. Jeff stops in the middle of 'Two-Headed Boy' after skipping the second verse. He never returns to it contrary to saying he'll 'come back to that one'. This is the first appearance of 'Holland, 1945' and 'The King of Carrot Flowers Pt 1' - and the last for 'Acid'. ‘Acid’/’Swimming In Your Speakers*’ on video for the first and last time. Jeff also sings a lot of the horn parts in Scott's absence. 'Oh Comely' is still missing the Goldaline verse despite the al...

The full album Beauty by Neutral Milk Hotel, recorded somewhere in 1992, released on a cassette tape. The original is by Neutral Milk Hotel. THIS NEEDED A LOOP.
This is some great footage that comes from the original taper uploading the videos to Youtube. He did not tape the full show, so this is all the segments together. Some highlights include the manic performance of 'Ghost'. After that you see Scott play Jeff's guitar briefly. Jeff says he 'loves [Scott] more than you'll ever know'. 'April 8th' makes a very rare pre-reunion appearance, which is also the original version. Jeff keeps his eyes fixed on his fretting during (maybe why the original is rarely played). Jeff then leads into 'Oh Comely', which the audiences goes ape over. Jeff mentions 'Two-Headed Boy' is the only song he wrote in New York City. About the same song he said, 'I wrote it after going to a freak circus in Pennsylvania,' at the 1997-04-23 show. 'Song Against Sex' sends Juli...

What I recorded.

This is a gem from the Neutral Milk Hotel bootleg collection. Considered to be their "last show," until their recent reunion. After Jeff Mangum's nervous breakdown and the dissolution of the band, Chris Knox, asked Jeff Mangum to play a show at the King's Arms Tavern in Auckland, New Zealand. The show was billed as the "World of Wild Beards Incorporated" but was Jeff Mangum playing solo with just an electric guitar. Laura Carter joins on a couple songs. 01. Two-Headed Boy 00:00 02. Excerpt of taper's comments: "A new job and relocation of myself and family meant that it would take a 300+ mile journey - one way - to attend this show, but I wasn't going to miss it, even though it was sandwiched between two longer journeys the week prior and after for business and family, respectively. 5 states, 2,500 miles, 13 days, why not? The driving was all worth it when they hit the stage. It was almost as surreal to me as the scenes in the Dark Lodge in "Twin Peaks", with Jeremy (in my first sight of him) looking as though he would not be out of place riding through the University of Illinois campus on a penny-farthing. Aside from one of the shortest adult females I've ever seen trying to barge her way to the front of the elevated floor where I was, and a group of young college...
Jeff Mangum XFM Interview, part 1. Jeff talks about the band, inspiration and future plans.
Bonus song of Jeff playing Naomi live in Studio. This interview is short, but I love it. The interviewer's accent gets a bit thick for me towards the end, and thus a bit confusing to listen to, but other than that, its fine.

My friends went to a Jeff Mangum concert and asked him for love advice. His response - a cover of "True Love Will Find You In The End" by Daniel Johnston.
Our Friday at Reeperbahn Festival started out with a massive delay due to problems with the hotel room. By the time we got around to do our In Bed with session with Quiet Company the next band, Fay Wildhaugen, already sat in front of the door. so we asked them in and got to enjoy this "Under The Covers" version of Netural Milk Hotel's "Holland, 1945" and Quiet Company's "Road to Perditon" with 12 people in the room. And as we had them all together we decided to do a crossover interview with Fay Wildhagen.

Photos of the show: http://imgur.com/gallery/gesij First time 'The King of Carrot Flowers Pt 1' and 'Holland, 1945' are played as a full band. The first performance of the finished 'Two-Headed Boy Pt. 2'. I'd say Jeff isn't his most tonally sound here. 'All the Colors of the Rainbow' makes a rare and chaotic appearance, this time with an unknown song preceding it. This unknown song is played after 'Ruby Bulbs' a handful of times, but has its own unique melody and lyrics (check 1998-05-23 for a clearer recording of the song). There has long been suspicion of a government cover-up of information about the assassination of John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. About the book: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0918487633/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp;=1789&creative;=9325&creativeASIN;=0918487633&linkCode;=as2&tag;=tra0c7-20&linkId;=f6ceecbd6adc5ea662cee1edd6560aa8 Numerous conspiracy theories regarding the assassination arose soon after Kennedy's death and continue to this day.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is the police department of the city of Los Angeles, California. The LAPD has been copiously fictionalized in numerous movies, novels and television shows throughout its history. The department has also been associated with a number of controversies, mainly concerned with racial animosity, police brutality and police corruption. The iconic television series Dragnet, with LAPD Detective Joe Frid...
The Yugoslav Front, also known as the National Liberation War, was a complex conflict that took place during World War II (1941--1945) in occupied Yugoslavia. The war began after the Kingdom of Yugoslavia was overrun by Axis forces and partitioned between Germany, Italy, Hungary, Bulgaria and client regimes. Primarily it was a guerilla liberation war fought by the communist-led, republican Yugoslav Partisans against the Axis occupying forces and their locally-established puppet regimes, such as the Independent State of Croatia and the Nedić government. At the same time, it was a civil war between the Yugoslav Partisans and anti-communist paramilitaries, such as the Serbian royalist Chetniks and the Slovene Home Guard, whose level of collaboration and coordination with the Axis occupiers va...
