A piano sonata is a sonata written for a solo piano. Piano sonatas are usually written in three or four movements, although some piano sonatas have been written with a single movement (Scarlatti, Scriabin, Medtner), two movements (Haydn), five (Brahms' Third Piano Sonata) or even more movements. The first movement is generally composed in sonata form.
In the Baroque era, the use of the term "sonata" generally referred to either the sonata da chiesa (church sonata) or sonata da camera (chamber sonata), both of which were sonatas for various instruments (usually one or more violins plus basso continuo). The keyboard sonata was relatively neglected by most composers.
The sonatas of Domenico Scarlatti (of which there are over 500) were the hallmark of the Baroque keyboard sonata, though they were for the most part unpublished during Scarlatti's lifetime. The majority of these sonatas are in one-movement binary form, both sections being in the same tempo and utilizing the same thematic material. These sonatas are prized for both their technical difficulty and their musical and formal ingenuity. The influence of Spanish folk music is evident in Scarlatti's sonatas.
18 (eighteen) is the natural number following 17 and preceding 19.
In speech, the numbers 18 and 80 are sometimes confused. When carefully enunciated, they differ in which syllable is stressed: 18 /eɪtˈtiːn/ vs 80 /ˈeɪti/. However, in dates such as 1864, or when contrasting numbers in the teens, such as 17, 18, 19, the stress shifts to the first syllable: 18 /ˈeɪttiːn/. In some dialects, such as General American, there is little confusion because the single t sound in 80 becomes a d-like flap [ɾ], whereas the double t sound in 18 does not.
Eighteen is a composite number, its proper divisors being 1, 2, 3, 6 and 9. Three of these divisors (3, 6 and 9) add up to 18, hence 18 is a semiperfect number. Eighteen is the first inverted square-prime of the form p·q2.
It is a heptagonal number, and as the sum of the first three pentagonal numbers, it is a pentagonal pyramidal number. It is also the sum of the totient function for the first seven integers. It is the sixth lucas number.
Piano Sonata No. 18 may refer to:
The E♭ (E-flat) major scale consists of the pitches E♭, F, G, A♭, B♭, C, and D. Its key signature has three flats: B, E, A.
Its relative minor is C minor, and its parallel minor is E♭ minor.
E-flat major is often associated with bold, heroic music, in part because of Beethoven's usage. His Eroica Symphony, Emperor Concerto and Grand Sonata are all in this key. Also Beethoven's (hypothetical) 10th symphony is in the key of E-flat major. But even before Beethoven, Francesco Galeazzi identified E-flat major as "a heroic key, extremely majestic, grave and serious: in all these features it is superior to that of C."
Thus, three of Mozart's completed horn concerti and Joseph Haydn's famous Trumpet Concerto are in E-flat major, and so is Anton Bruckner's Fourth Symphony with its prominent horn theme in the first movement. Another famous heroic piece in the key of E-flat major is Richard Strauss's A Hero's Life. The heroic theme from the Jupiter movement of Holst's The Planets is in E-flat major. Mahler's vast and heroic Eighth Symphony is in E-flat, and his Second Symphony also ends in the key.

Piano: Wilhelm Kempff The Piano Sonata No. 18 in E-flat major, Op. 31, No. 3, is a sonata for solo piano by Ludwig van Beethoven, the third and last of his Op. 31 piano sonatas. The work dates from 1802. A playful jocularity is maintained throughout the piece, earning it the occasional nickname of The Hunt, although like many of Beethoven's early works, the 'jocular' style can be heard as a facade, concealing profound ideas and depths of emotion. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 18 in D major, K 576 (1789) is a sonata in three movements: 1. Allegro 2. Adagio 3. Allegretto A typical performance takes about 15 minutes. In a letter to a fellow Freemason Michael von Puchberg, Mozart wrote "meanwhile I am working on six easy piano sonatas for Princess Friederike and six quartets for the King". K.576 was the only sonata completed. Despite Mozart's intention for the sonata to be easy, it is extremely difficult to play. The sonata would also be Mozart's last. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- FREE .mp3 and .wav files of all Mozart's music at: http://www.mozart-archiv.de/ FREE sheet music scores of any Mozart piece at: http://dme.mozarteum.at/DME/nma/start.php?l=2 ALSO check out...
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) Sonata para piano Nº 18 en Mi bemol mayor, Opus 31 Nº 3 (1802) [E flat major/E-Dur/mi bémol majeur] 1. Allegro 2. Scherzo. Allegretto vivace 3. Menuetto: Moderato e grazioso 4.
Beethoven’s last Op.31 sonata is one of the most warm, big-hearted, lyrical things he wrote. It’s the second-last sonata in 4 movements (the last is the Hammerklavier), and it contains no slow movements. (Also worth noting that 3 of them are in full-fledged sonata form!) The first movement is a total delight to listen to: from the surprising harmony that opens the piece, to the richly textured chordal response and the theme group that grows out of it, the repeated recollections of the sort-of-motivic-introduction that begins the work (cf the Pathetique!), & the wonderful soaring thing that is the second theme, all air and light. The second movement is one of my all-time favourites: it’s hilarious & a total earworm. Everything comes together so well: the bassoon-like bass, the off-beat a...

WQXR's Beethoven Piano Sonata Marathon, which took place in The Greene Space on Nov. 20, 2011 featured a lineup which spanned a range of personalities and national schools. It included the flamboyant individualists Evan Shinners and Timothy Andres; the Russian powerhouses Daria Rabotkina and Natasha Paremski; and the Chinese up-and-comers Qi Xu and Yuchong Wu. Some, including Jeremy Denk, Jonathan Biss and Alessio Bax, are already boldface names on the international concert circuit; others are on their way.
I'm just a bachelor
Lookin' for a partner
Someone who knows how to ride
Without even fallin' off
Gotta' be compatable
Takes me to my limits
Girl when I break you off
I promise that you won't wanna' get off
If you're horny
Let's do it
Ride it --My pony
My saddle's waiting
Come and jump on it!!!
(repeat)
Sittin' here flossin'
Peepin' yo steelo
Just once if I had the chance
The things I would do to you
You and yo body
Every single portion
Send chills up and down yo spine
Juices flowin down your thigh
(Repeat the hook)
If we gonna' get nasty baby
First we'll show and tell
'til I reach yo ponytail
Lurk all over and through you baby
Until we reach the stream
You'd be on my jockey team
(repeat the hook)
