HMS Belfast is a museum ship, originally a Royal Navy light cruiser, permanently moored in London on the River Thames and operated by the Imperial War Museum.
Construction of Belfast, the first Royal Navy ship to be named after the capital city of Northern Ireland, and one of ten Town-class cruisers, began in December 1936. She was launched on St Patrick's Day, 17 March 1938. Commissioned in early August 1939 shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War, Belfast was initially part of the British naval blockade against Germany. In November 1939 Belfast struck a German mine and spent more than two years undergoing extensive repairs. Belfast returned to action in November 1942 with improved firepower, radar equipment and armour. Belfast saw action escorting Arctic convoys to the Soviet Union during 1943, and in December 1943 played an important role in the Battle of North Cape, assisting in the destruction of the German warship Scharnhorst. In June 1944 Belfast took part in Operation Overlord supporting the Normandy landings. In June 1945 Belfast was redeployed to the Far East to join the British Pacific Fleet, arriving shortly before the end of the Second World War. Belfast saw further combat action in 1950–52 during the Korean War and underwent an extensive modernisation between 1956 and 1959. A number of further overseas commissions followed before Belfast entered reserve in 1963.

Belfast (/ˈbɛl.fɑːst/ or /ˈbɛl.fæst/; from Irish: Béal Feirste, meaning "mouth of the sandbanks") is the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland. Most of Belfast, including the city centre, is in County Antrim, but parts of East and South Belfast are in County Down. It is on the flood plain of the River Lagan. The city's motto is Pro Tanto Quid Retribuamus (roughly Latin for "what shall we give in return for so much").
By population before the 2015 council reform, Belfast was the 17th largest city in the United Kingdom and the second largest on the island of Ireland. It is the seat of the devolved government and legislative Northern Ireland Assembly. At the time of the 2011 census, the city of Belfast had a population of 286,000. With the 2015 council reform it is 333,871 and lies at the heart of the Belfast Urban area, which has a population of 483,418 and the Belfast Metropolitan Area, which had a population of 579,276 at the 2001 census. The larger urban zone, as defined by the European Union, had an estimated total population of 673,000 on 1 January 2012. Belfast was granted city status in 1888.
The Royal Navy (RN) is the United Kingdom's principal naval warfare force. Naval forces were first used by Alfred the Great in the 9th century, and from the early 14th century England's navy was engaged in maritime warfare. The modern Royal Navy traces its origins to the early 16th century, it is the oldest of the armed services and is known as the Senior Service.
During the 17th century the Royal Navy vied with the French Navy for world supremacy, and from the late 17th century until the mid- 1940s it was the most powerful navy in the world, being surpassed by the US Navy after World War II. The Royal Navy played a key part in establishing the British Empire as the dominant world power during the 17th, 18th, 19th and first part of the 20th centuries. Due to this historical prominence, it is usual – even among non-Britons – to refer to it as "The Royal Navy" without qualification.
Following victory in the First World War, the Royal Navy was significantly reduced in size, although at the onset of the Second World War it was still the largest in the world. By the end of the Second World War, however, the United States Navy had emerged as the world's largest. During the course of the Cold War, the Royal Navy transformed into a primarily anti-submarine force, hunting for Soviet submarines, mostly active in the GIUK gap. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, its focus has returned to expeditionary operations around the world.

The story of HMS Belfast is one of the most dramatic naval stories of World War Two. When commissioned in 1938, the cruiser HMS Belfast was the most modern warship in Britain's Royal Navy. With rapid-firing six-inch calibre guns and high speed capability, she was designed to patrol the seaways of Britain's vast empire, and playing a part in the sinking of the German warship Scharnhorst during the Battle of North Cape in the Second World War.

Looking for a unique filming location? Look no further than HMS Belfast, moored on London's River Thames.
I went of a quite tour of HMS Belfast, a WW2 battleship that is permanently moored on the river Thames, close to Tower Bridge. This video features a few of the rooms you can explore on this real WW2 war ship that served in countless battles. You can roam the ship freely and get a sense of what it was like to serve on a British ship during the war. I fully recommend paying HMS Belfast a visit if you're ever in London!
The final piece of the new HMS Belfast gangway was installed at dawn on Wednesday 9th May 2012. With this final piece in place it all looks set for the much loved World War 2 cruiser to be open to the public again on 18 May. The bascules of Tower Bridge were raised to allow a barge with a large crane to pass through into the Upper Pool of London where the Belfast is permanently moored. Within a couple of hours workmen had placed the new gangway into position and will spend the next few days making final adjustments. Docked in the River Thames, HMS Belfast makes a great family day out. This vessel took part in the D-Day landings and the fight with the Scharnhorst. She is the only British WW2 warship to still survive to this day, now a museum piece. Her guns are trained on a target 14 miles away on the M1. Amazing! IAC 14136. MCPS 5965.
Two people have been injured after a gangway to HMS Belfast collapsed on the River Thames. Both men suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital after the incident at lunchtime today (Tuesday). The vessel, which saw action in World War Two and the Korean War is a major tourist attraction and permanently docked on the Thames. A spokeswoman for the Imperial War Museum, of which the ship is a part, said other people on board the vessel were being evacuated on boats after the gangway collapsed at 12.47pm. A spokeswoman for the museum said the two injured men were contractors who had been working at the site. She said in a statement: "The gangway which leads visitors on to HMS Belfast has collapsed. "Two contractors working on the site have sustained minor injuries and have been taken to ...

If this ship is released in its current state to the live version of the game then it has my absolute seal of recommendation. No weaknesses, multiple great strengths, this ship is a credit and XP monster. I don't easily call a ship overpowered, but it's hard to find any other way to describe it.
