The Wood
The Wood is a 1999 romantic comedy, written by Rick Famuyiwa and Todd Boyd. Famuyiwa also directed the film, which stars Omar Epps, Richard T. Jones, and Taye Diggs.
Plot
Roland (Taye Diggs) is getting married (and is currently missing) and Slim (Richard T. Jones), who scoffs at the idea of marriage, is furious at Roland for disappearing. The story reminisces back to Mike's (Omar Epps, portrayed as a youth by Sean Nelson) first encounters with Roland (Trent Cameron) and Slim (Duane Finley), his first real crush on a girl named Alicia (Malinda Williams), and the three young men's misadventures as teenagers growing up in Inglewood, California ("The Wood"). Shy and awkward, Mike sticks out like a sore thumb on his first day, but is quickly befriended by Slim and Roland.
On a dare from Slim and Roland, Mike runs and grabs Alicia's butt, leading to a big fight with her big brother Stacey (De'Aundre Bonds), a Blood gang member. While he is thoroughly beat down, Mike earns Stacey's private respect for fighting back like a man. Meanwhile in present day, Mike and Slim go to find Roland for his wedding, when they get a call from Tanya (Tamala Jones) saying that she has him with her and that he is very drunk. They go to her house to pick him up to take him back to the wedding to marry his bride Lisa (LisaRaye McCoy) because they only have two hours before the ceremony begins.

Wood
Wood is a porous and fibrous structural tissue found in the stems and roots of trees and other woody plants.
It has been used for thousands of years for both fuel and as a construction material. It is an organic material, a natural composite of cellulose fibers (which are strong in tension) embedded in a matrix of lignin which resists compression. Wood is sometimes defined as only the secondary xylem in the stems of trees, or it is defined more broadly to include the same type of tissue elsewhere such as in the roots of trees or shrubs. In a living tree it performs a support function, enabling woody plants to grow large or to stand up by themselves. It also conveys water and nutrients between the leaves, other growing tissues, and the roots. Wood may also refer to other plant materials with comparable properties, and to material engineered from wood, or wood chips or fiber.
The Earth contains about 434 billion cubic meters of growing stock forest, 47% of which is commercial. As an abundant, carbon-neutral renewable resource, woody materials have been of intense interest as a source of renewable energy. In 1991, approximately 3.5 cubic kilometers of wood were harvested. Dominant uses were for furniture and building construction.

Cherry Creek Arts Festival
The Cherry Creek Arts Festival is an annual festival held in Denver, Colorado, during the first weekend of July, usually Fourth of July weekend. The first annual Cherry Creek Arts Festival began in 1991.
History
The first president and executive director of the Arts Festival was Bill Charney who originally presented the Arts Festival concept to the Cherry Creek Chamber of Commerce (then the Cherry Creek Commerce Association) Board of Directors. At that meeting, the leadership of the Cherry Creek business community committed $15,000 in seed money, and a group of volunteers to assist Charney as an "Organizing Committee". Currently, Terry Adams serves as the festival's executive director.
Description
The Cherry Creek Arts Festival is a year-round 501(c)(3) non-profit arts services organization that presents an award-winning annual civic event. For three days during early July, the nation's #1 outdoor Arts Festival (as ranked by four independent industry publications) is presented in Denver's Cherry Creek North neighborhood. Visitors enjoy free access to a diverse array of art forms in a unique setting. With an attendance of 350,000+, the Arts Festival features over 232 of the nation's visual artists; seven performance stages presenting a broad range of entertainment; a volunteer program with over 1,000+ volunteers working in 23 different committees; and a sponsorship program with a 91% retention rate.

Georges Didi-Huberman, philosopher and art historian, teaches at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales) in Paris, where he has been a lecturer since 1990. He is a winner of the Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award for Writing on Art given by the College Art Association.
Thomas DaCosta Kaufmann is Frederick Marquand Professor of Art and Archaeology, Princeton University. He received degrees from Yale, the Warburg Institute, and Harvard, and has been awarded honorary doctorates by the Technical University, Dresden, and the Masaryk University, Brno. The holder of the Palacký medal from the Czech Academy of Sciences, he is a member of the Swedish, Flemish, and Polish Academies of Science, and has been a Fellow of the American Academies in Berlin and Rome, among other honors and Fellowships. He is the author or editor of many books and articles on historiography, geography of art, art and science, Central European art and architecture 1450-1800, and global exchange in art.He is now writing about global exchange in art and world art history.
François Quiviger took his Ph.D. from the Warburg Institute, London, where he works as curator of digital resources, librarian, and researcher. He has written, taught, and curated projects on early modern European academies, on mythology and on Renaissance material culture, art and art theory.His recent book, The Sensory World of Italian Renaissance Art (London, Chicago 2010), explores the presence and function of sensation in Renaissance ideas and practices, investigating their link to mental imagery and how Renaissance artists made touch, sound, and scent palpable to the minds of their audience.
Dorothea Rockburne was born in Montreal. She was educated at the Montreal Museum School and at Black Mountain College, where she studied with, among other contemporaries, Philip Guston and Franz Kline, as well as the German mathematician Max Dehn, whose teachings, merging the mathematical and natural worlds, provided her with new and complex approaches to her work. Her interests in the Golden Mean, astronomy, cosmology, and lifelong fascination with Egyptians' use of proportion and light, additionally shaped her oeuvre.Working with both industrial and natural materials, she paints, cuts, draws, folds and calculates to create complex works of art built upon mathematical foundations.
Christopher Wood (A.B., Harvard 1983, Ph.D., Harvard 1991) has been teaching at Yale since 1992. In this video I will be experimenting with variety of different tolls such as wood graining roller and wood graining tool, sponge, brushes acrylic paint and water to create a breath taking abstract landscape theme. This painting will be composed of magical forest line, beautiful calm lake, and this magical forest reflecting in this magnificent lake. I hope you will enjoy watching as much as I enjoyed creating this painting.
