What a surprise! Nice spin around Alex Hirsch!
- I do not own Gravity Falls, this is a show owned by Disney and an idea from genius creator Alex Hirsch.
Savannah’s Historic District is filled with dignified, lovingly-restored mansions which can be toured for a price. The Noble Hardee House overlooking Monterey Square is not one of them.
Ever bit as stately as its counterparts, construction on this Italianate gem got underway in 1860 by cotton merchant Noble Hardee. He died before it was completed nearly a decade later.
With its flaking stucco and rusting ironwork, the decaying grand dame of Monterey Square is believed to be the only unrestored mansion in the city. To see inside, all you need is a love for old things or a fondness for organized chaos.
Each of the mansion’s four stories is now used to house Alex Raskin Antiques. Visitors enter through the cellar on Bull Street and must be willing to navigate a labyrinth of unique furniture pieces from the 1700s and 1800s.
In some rooms, tables and chairs are precariously stacked to the ceiling. On the home’s main floor, the grand staircase competes for attention with the large book cases that almost block the front door. Meandering through the rooms with their large fireplaces, unbalanced chandeliers, and sweeping archways will leave you wondering what life was like for the families who lived there so long ago.

Thousands of wooden boxes with mythical creatures and peculiar paperwork were found by chance in the basement of an abandoned mansion in the UK.
Thomas Theodore Merrylin was the former owner of the mansion. He was a Crypto-naturalist, Zoologist and Xeno-Archaeologist born in 1782 in Hellingshire, North England. Other than his unusual hobby of collecting remains of uncatalogued species, he is also recalled for his tremendous lifespan (160 years). According to accounts, at 80 years of age he resembled a 40-year-old, aspect which probably drew more attention than his unusual collection of rare specimens.
While some specimens are clearly the product of human ingenuity, there are others that intrigue even the most skeptical of minds. Sketches and illustrations reveal that a thorough analysis had been performed on the alleged mythical creatures, but it also points out to a possible blueprint which served as the basis of creation.
Whatever the case, the peculiar collection is sure to raise numerous questions. It cannot be dismissed as a forgery, or pure artistic creation. So, if proven authentic, it will challenge numerous notions imposed by our modern culture.
Is it possible that such fabled creatures existed in a not-so-far-away past? If so, why would such an alternative reality be concealed from us?

Alex North
Alex North (December 4, 1910 – September 8, 1991) was an American composer best known for his many film scores, including A Streetcar Named Desire (one of the first jazz-based film scores), Viva Zapata!, Spartacus, Cleopatra, and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. He was the first composer to receive an Honorary Academy Award.
Early life
North was born Isadore Soifer in Chester, Pennsylvania to Russian Jewish parents.
Career
North managed to integrate his modernism into typical film music leitmotif structure, rich with themes. One of these became the famous song, "Unchained Melody". Nominated for fifteen Oscars but unsuccessful each time, North is one of only two film composers to receive the Lifetime Achievement Academy Award, the other being Ennio Morricone. North's frequent collaborator as orchestrator was the avant-garde composer Henry Brant. He won the 1968 Golden Globe award for his music to The Shoes of the Fisherman (1968).
His best-known film scores include A Streetcar Named Desire, Death of a Salesman, Viva Zapata!, The Rainmaker, Spartacus, The Misfits, Cleopatra, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Dragonslayer and Under the Volcano. His music for The Wonderful Country makes use of Mexican and American motifs.

Gravity Falls
Gravity Falls is an American animated television series created by animator Alex Hirsch for Disney Channel, now on Disney XD. The series follows adventures of Dipper Pines (voiced by Jason Ritter) and his twin sister Mabel (voiced by Kristen Schaal) in the fictional town of Gravity Falls, Oregon, while on summer vacation. At the start of the series, twins Dipper and Mabel are sent to spend the summer with their great-uncle (or "Grunkle") Stan (voiced by Hirsch), in a mysterious town full of paranormal forces and supernatural creatures. The kids help Stan run "The Mystery Shack", the tourist trap that he owns, while also investigating the local mysteries. The series officially premiered on the Disney Channel in the United States on June 15, 2012.
Series creator Alex Hirsch first coined the concept for the show in an 11-minute low-budget student film which he made at the California Institute of the Arts. Hirsch was called in to do a pitch for the Disney Channel for a show based on the short pilot. Disney Channel bought the idea and started airing the series in the summer of 2012. The series was inspired by Hirsch's own childhood experiences with his twin sister during their summer vacations.

Alex Hirsch
Alexander Robert "Alex" Hirsch (born June 18, 1985) is an American animator, storyboard artist, voice actor, and television producer. He is best known as the creator of the Disney XD animated television series Gravity Falls, where he voices some of the characters. He has previously worked as a storyboard artist on the Cartoon Network series The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack and the Disney Channel series Fish Hooks.
Career
Hirsch is most known for creating the series Gravity Falls for the Disney Channel. He provides the voice of Grunkle Stan, Soos, Old Man McGucket and Bill Cipher, as well as many other minor characters featured throughout the show.
Hirsch first started out as a writer and storyboard artist for The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, where he worked alongside and befriended fellow animators J. G. Quintel (who would go on to create Regular Show) and Pendleton Ward (who would go on to create Adventure Time).
Hirsch later moved on to be the writer, storyboard artist and creative consultant for Fish Hooks, which he also developed for television alongside Maxwell Atoms, where he portrays Clamantha, her father, Fumble, one of the fish police and a Ferret.

Savannah’s Historic District is filled with dignified, lovingly-restored mansions which can be toured for a price. The Noble Hardee House overlooking Monterey Square is not one of them. Ever bit as stately as its counterparts, construction on this Italianate gem got underway in 1860 by cotton merchant Noble Hardee. He died before it was completed nearly a decade later. With its flaking stucco and rusting ironwork, the decaying grand dame of Monterey Square is believed to be the only unrestored mansion in the city. Thousands of wooden boxes with mythical creatures and peculiar paperwork were found by chance in the basement of an abandoned mansion in the UK.
Thomas Theodore Merrylin was the former owner of the mansion. He was a Crypto-naturalist, Zoologist and Xeno-Archaeologist born in 1782 in Hellingshire, North England. Other than his unusual hobby of collecting remains of uncatalogued species, he is also recalled for his tremendous lifespan (160 years). According to accounts, at 80 years of age he resembled a 40-year-old, aspect which probably drew more attention than his unusual collection of rare specimens.
While some specimens are clearly the product of human ingenuity, there are others that intrigue even the most skeptical of minds. Sketches and illustrations reveal that a thorough analysis had been performed on the alleged mythical creatures, but it also points out to a possible blueprint which served as the basis of creation.
Whatever the case, the peculiar collection is sure to raise numerous questions. It cannot be dismissed as a forgery, or pure artistic creation. So, if proven authentic, it will challenge numerous notions imposed by our modern culture.
Is it possible that such fabled creatures existed in a not-so-far-away past? If so, why would such an alternative reality be concealed from us?

Right after winning the Red Bull Storm Chase final mission in Cornwall, Thomas Traversa came to the island of Tenerife to test new sails. An Interview with the Still House Group
Founded by Isaac Brest and Alex Perweiler in 2008 when the pair and their founding members were still in art school, the Still House Group is a collective of young artists who have banded together not out of a desire for anonymity but for camraderie. The group runs a studio space in industrial Red Hook but has also installed a selection of their work at Mark Fletcher's gallery space at 24 Washington Square North. The exhibition is called "Here Comes," a teasing title that, as Brest explained, framed the show as a "survey of works" rather than anything with a specific theme, avoiding "closing down people's minds." ARTINFO spoke to Brest and Perweiler about the gallery show, then visited their sprawling studio space to talk about the difficulties of working as emerging artists.

Right after winning the Red Bull Storm Chase final mission in Cornwall, Thomas Traversa came to the island of Tenerife to test new sails. We managed to score some good conditions around the island, trying some new spots in El Poris (sailing together with Alex Mussolini) and in the north of the island. Here is the short video where Thomas speaks about winning the competition, his travels in chase of the big waves, and equipment.

I was fortunate enough to co-direct this piece with Jeffrey Dates and design it at Mill+( http://themillplus.com/ ). Motionpoems( http://www.motionpoems.com/ )offered us to contribute to their 2014 film festival. Jeff and I chose the Poem, Wayne the Stegosaurus by Kenn Nesbitt to make a short animation to. It was brilliant fun bringing my illustrations into a 3D world that Jeff Dates created, keeping the handmade cel-look dominant throughout.

Founded by Isaac Brest and Alex Perweiler in 2008 when the pair and their founding members were still in art school, the Still House Group is a collective of young artists who have banded together not out of a desire for anonymity but for camraderie. The group runs a studio space in industrial Red Hook but has also installed a selection of their work at Mark Fletcher's gallery space at 24 Washington Square North. In some rooms, tables and chairs are precariously stacked to the ceiling. Meandering through the rooms with their large fireplaces, unbalanced chandeliers, and sweeping archways will leave you wondering what life was like for the families who lived there so long ago.

Thousands of wooden boxes with mythical creatures and peculiar paperwork were found by chance in the basement of an abandoned mansion in the UK.
Thomas Theodore Merrylin was the former owner of the mansion. He was a Crypto-naturalist, Zoologist and Xeno-Archaeologist born in 1782 in Hellingshire, North England. Other than his unusual hobby of collecting remains of uncatalogued species, he is also recalled for his tremendous lifespan (160 years). According to accounts, at 80 years of age he resembled a 40-year-old, aspect which probably drew more attention than his unusual collection of rare specimens.
While some specimens are clearly the product of human ingenuity, there are others that intrigue even the most skeptical of minds. Sketches and illustrations reveal that a thorough analysis had been performed on the alleged mythical creatures, but it also points out to a possible blueprint which served as the basis of creation.
Whatever the case, the peculiar collection is sure to raise numerous questions. It cannot be dismissed as a forgery, or pure artistic creation. So, if proven authentic, it will challenge numerous notions imposed by our modern culture.
Is it possible that such fabled creatures existed in a not-so-far-away past? If so, why would such an alternative reality be concealed from us?
