“To love with one’s eyes open sometimes makes life very difficult”
GUTS brings Terence Rattigan’s heartwrenching and most-celebrated play to the Groningen stage. The Deep Blue Sea, set in England in the 1950s, highlights the struggles and despair of a failed marriage, of infidelity and in particular the question of identity with brutal and raw honesty.
Despite its setting the themes are timeless and universal as we, as humans, are ever in need to define ourselves and our social positions.

And yet Rob finds he can't move on. The needle of his life seems to be stuck in a really deep groove - and it's called Laura. Before long, he finds himself asking some of the bigger questions: about love, about life - and about why we choose to share ours with the people we do.
Based on the much beloved book by Nick Hornby, GUTS' rendition of High Fidelity hopes to answer once and for all the question: What came first? The music or the misery?

http://radio4.nl/dutchclassicaltalent Op een grauwe dag, vroeg in januari maakten we opnamen met het Amatis Piano Trio in het Muziekcentrum van de Omroep in Hilversum. De leden van het talentvolle, internationale clubje vertelden dat ze elkaar min of meer toevallig gevonden hadden in Amsterdam. En dat ze sindsdien samen speelden. En prompt wonnen ze allerlei concoursen en prijzen. Het hele verhaal had iets achteloos lichtvoetigs. Cellist Sam Shepherd vertelde daarna met dezelfde lichtvoetigheid over de compositiewedstrijd die het trio uitgeschreven had, parallel aan de deelname aan Dutch Classical Talent. Daar waren veel reacties op binnengekomen, waaronder zeer bruikbare composities. De allerbeste is te horen tijdens hun toernee.
Ook de opname verliep ongeveer zo. Hier en daar een beetje puzzelen, af en toe een klein stukje overdoen, korte overlegjes, alsof het allemaal weinig moeite kostte. Alsof samenspelen de natuurlijke staat van zijn van dit trio is. Dat ze daarbij vreselijk moeilijke muziek spelen, lijkt niet uit te maken. Luister deze week maar eens op NPO Radio 4 hoe goed het Amatis Trio is, bijvoorbeeld in Podium, Spiegelzaal, of volgende week in Vrije Geluiden. Of kom naar een van de concerten.

Christianity
Christianity is an Abrahamic monotheisticreligion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ as presented in the New Testament. Surname
A surname or family name is a name added to a given name. In many cases, a surname is a family name and many dictionaries define "surname" as a synonym of "family name". GUTS brings Terence Rattigan’s heartwrenching and most-celebrated play to the Groningen stage. The Deep Blue Sea, set in England in the 1950s, highlights the struggles and despair of a failed marriage, of infidelity and in particular the question of identity with brutal and raw honesty.
Despite its setting the themes are timeless and universal as we, as humans, are ever in need to define ourselves and our social positions.

De leden van het talentvolle, internationale clubje vertelden dat ze elkaar min of meer toevallig gevonden hadden in Amsterdam. En dat ze sindsdien samen speelden. En prompt wonnen ze allerlei concoursen en prijzen. Het hele verhaal had iets achteloos lichtvoetigs. Cellist Sam Shepherd vertelde daarna met dezelfde lichtvoetigheid over de compositiewedstrijd die het trio uitgeschreven had, parallel aan de deelname aan Dutch Classical Talent. Daar waren veel reacties op binnengekomen, waaronder zeer bruikbare composities. De allerbeste is te horen tijdens hun toernee.
