Mercedes-Benz has confirmed local details for its upcoming E-Class convertible.
Arriving in time for summer, the two-door, four-seat cabrio packages the E-Class’ world-class tech features in a much more glamorous body.
The new machine shares styling cues with the smaller and larger C-Class and S-Class convertibles, complementing the most up-to-date Mercedes drop-top range in years.
Designed to be used year-round, the soft-top E-Class is available with all-wheel-drive for the first time, as well as a reworked soft-top roof. More spacious than its predecessor, the fresh version features a longer wheelbase that brings extra room for back seat occupants.
Standard kit includes twin 12.3-inch digital displays, air suspension, heated seats and more. Aussie cars also feature an aesthetic AMG pack with 20-inch wheels and a body kit.
The E-Class cabrio is available in E300 form with a 180kW/370Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine for $123,500 plus on-road costs, or as the more powerful E400 4MATIC with a 245kW/480Nm 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 for $157,500 plus on-road costs.
The E400 drives all four wheels through a new nine-speed automatic transmission, while the E300 features the same gearbox with rear-wheel-drive.
The new E-Class Cabriolet arrives locally in October.
