Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Ford (née Bloomer; April 8, 1918 – July 8, 2011) was First Lady of the United States from 1974 to 1977, as the wife of the 38th President of the United States, Gerald Ford. As First Lady, she was active in social policy and created precedents as a politically active presidential wife.
Throughout her husband's term in office, she maintained high approval ratings despite opposition from some conservative Republicans who objected to her more moderate and liberal positions on social issues. Ford was noted for raising breast cancer awareness following her 1974 mastectomy. In addition, she was a passionate supporter of, and activist for, the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). Pro-choice on abortion and a leader in the Women's Movement, she gained fame as one of the most candid first ladies in history, commenting on every hot-button issue of the time, including feminism, equal pay, the ERA, sex, drugs, abortion, and gun control. She also raised awareness of addiction when in the 1970s, she announced her long-running battle with alcoholism.

A VERY rare live television performance by Les Paul and Mary Ford. Most musical performances on TV in the 1950's were Milli Vanilli-esque lip-synched affairs so this is a real gem. Les and Mary perform "There's No Place Like Home" with some classic add libbing, especially from Les. Mary Ford was a fine guitarist in her own right and that fact is ably demonstrated here. Watch for when Les goes wild and breaks his high E string. Mary is about to punish him when... Well, watch the video. And, dig those gorgeous 1952 Gibson Les Paul guitars, heavily customized by the master himself. Trivia: Les shattered and almost lost his right arm in a 1948 car crash. Les had the doctors set his elbow at an angle so he could still play guitar but he could never again fully extend his right arm.

Larry King interviewed President Gerald Ford and Betty after the death of President Ronald Reagan.
When Former First Lady Betty Ford opened up about overcoming her addiction to alcohol and prescription pain pills, she became the nation's most prominent recovery champion, setting a powerful precedent for the potency of personal stories in public advocacy. In her 1987 book, Betty: A Glad Awakening, Mrs. Ford wrote, "There is joy in recovery, and in helping others discover that joy. I think God has allowed me - along with thousands of others - to carry a message, a message that says, there's help out there, and you too can be a survivor. Look at us. Look at me." Mrs. Ford's legacy continues to grow today, carried on by the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation's Institute for Recovery Advocacy and a new generation of recovering faces and voices galvanized by the groundbreaking film The Anonymous ...

Ihre Parties "Kiss Bang Boom" und "Sinnlust", sowie ihre eigene Bar B2 machten sie zu einer festen Größe der Kasseler Musikszene: Miss Betty Ford. L-BEACH ohne sie? Undenkbar.
Part 3 of the funeral of Betty Ford, with Richard Norton Smith
He reels across the street
In his hand a sticky weed
Ah did he drink too much
Ah did he drug too much
Can't straighten out his thoughts
Crazy world where are your gods
Who will help him in the pain
Who will help to cure his brain
Ba-Ba-Betty Ford clinic oh yeah
Ba-Ba-Betty Ford, he will go there
Smoke a little, drink a little -
Everything's fine
Betty Ford she'll take care -
na-na-na, na-na
Thought he was with a woman in bed
He had sex with a man instead
Uh did he drink too much
Uh did he drug too much
He's lost his mind and heart
But he thinks he's very smart
Who will help him in his pain
Who will help to cure his brain
Ba-Ba-Betty Ford clinic oh yeah
Ba-Ba-Betty Ford, he will go there
Smoke a little, drink a little -
Everything's fine
Betty Ford she'll take care -
na-na-na, na-na
In this center we will all meet again
If you're addicted -
We can be friends
Small-red eyes, faded skin
Everybody come in
Ba-Ba-Betty Ford clinic oh yeah
Ba-Ba-Betty Ford, he will go there
Smoke a little, drink a little -
Everything's fine
Betty Ford she'll take care -
na-na-na, na-na
Ba-Ba-Betty Ford clinic oh yeah
