Houston (i/ˈhjuːstən/ HYOO-stən) is the most populous city in Texas and the fourth most populous city in the United States. With a census-estimated 2014 population of 2.239 million people, within a land area of 599.6 square miles (1,553 km2), it also is the largest city in the Southern United States, as well as the seat of Harris County. It is the principal city of Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land, which is the fifth most populated metropolitan area in the United States.
Houston was founded in 1836 on land near the banks of Buffalo Bayou (now known as Allen's Landing) and incorporated as a city on June 5, 1837. The city was named after former General Sam Houston, who was president of the Republic of Texas and had commanded and won at the Battle of San Jacinto 25 miles (40 km) east of where the city was established. The burgeoning port and railroad industry, combined with oil discovery in 1901, has induced continual surges in the city's population. In the mid-twentieth century, Houston became the home of the Texas Medical Center—the world's largest concentration of healthcare and research institutions—and NASA's Johnson Space Center, where the Mission Control Center is located.
Theodore L. Gunderson (November 7, 1928 – July 31, 2011) was an American Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent In Charge and head of the Los Angeles FBI. According to his son he worked on the Marilyn Monroe and the John F. Kennedy cases. He was the author of the best selling book How to Locate Anyone Anywhere.
Ted Gunderson was born in Colorado Springs. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1950. Gunderson joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation in December 1951 under J. Edgar Hoover. He served in the Mobile, Knoxville, New York City, and Albuquerque offices. He held posts as an Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge in New Haven and Philadelphia. In 1973 he became the head of the Memphis FBI and then the head of the Dallas FBI in 1975. Ted Gunderson was appointed the head of the Los Angeles FBI in 1977. In 1979 he was one of a handful interviewed for the job of FBI director, which ultimately went to William H. Webster.
After retiring from the FBI, Gunderson set up a private investigation firm, Ted L. Gunderson and Associates, in Santa Monica. In 1980, he became a defense investigator for Green Beret doctor Jeffrey R. MacDonald, who had been convicted of the 1970 murders of his pregnant wife and two daughters. Gunderson obtained affidavits from Helena Stoeckley confessing to her involvement in the murders.

HOUSTON — A father in north Houston was killed by a robber while taking his wife and baby daughter to buy ice cream on Sunday afternoon. The robber also died when the father shot him in self-defense. Erasmo Alaniz and his wife, Deana Precella, had just arrived at the strip mall at 200 Aldine Bender Road shortly after 5 p.m. when a man got into their car next to the baby and pointed a gun at Precella's neck. "Give me all you have" he demanded, and, at first, Alaniz handed over his cash. But then Alaniz grabbed his pistol and a gunfight broke out inside the car. Alaniz was fatally shot and died in the driver's seat, while the robber was able to get out of the car. He didn't make far. A few paces into the parking lot, the robber collapsed on his back and died. Police are looking for a gr...
ELMWOOD PARK, NEW JERSEY — When a man attempted to hold up a family-owned store with a flare gun last week, the store owners’ dog didn’t do much to come to their defense. Security camera footage of the Feb. 2 incident shows Gabriel Velez, 33, walking around the store and talking to the owners for roughly half an hour. Eventually, Velez walks to the counter, pulls out an empty flare gun, and begins loading it in front of them. When a fight breaks out between Velez and the family, the frightened family dog can be seen pacing back and forth behind the glass counter. It didn’t take long for the two store owners to wrestle the flare gun away from Velez. Police showed up seconds later to arrest him. Velez has been charged with robbery, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unl...

XINJIANG, CHINA — Mr. Li, the husband of a murdered arts teacher, has exhausted his last appeal in a wrongful death lawsuit against the Chinese government. In July of last year, Mrs. Li had been driving to a piano competition with her 8 year old daughter. Her daughter was seated in the backseat of the car. Mrs. Li passed a police checkpoint, but failed to notice the police officers flagging her to stop. The bullet passed within less than a inch of the 8 year old daughter’s head before it struck Mrs. Li, killing her at the wheel of her car. In Fall of 2009, I hunted black wildebeest in Africa in order to again "meet my meat." My wonderful guide was Chris Bolton, of Zungah Safaris, in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. After the hunt, we transported the meat to a well-known Cape Town Chef, Pete Goff, of The Kitchen Cowboys. This was a very emotional experience for me and my friend, Sonja Kroop, who was shooting most of the footage. We had not anticipated the hunt nor filming, when we arrived to visit a friend in Cape Town, so the footage quality is old mini-dv, not high quality HD. Some viewers may find this to be GRAPHIC CONTENT, as it shows the killing of an animal for food.

Ashley recruits two well-known Houston chefs: Bryan Caswell of Reef, El Real, & Little Bigs, as well as J.J. "Papa-Beav" Jones of Beavers Restaurant, and master boar-Hunter & guide, Lupe Flores.
