Paco Montalvo

Paco Montalvo (born 19 November 1992) is a Spanish classical musician and creator of flamenco violin as the main voice. He is the youngest violinist to make a 21st-century debut in the main hall of Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Biography

Paco Montalvo’s interest in music began when he was quite young. His family introduced him to the violin at an early age. He began by taking lessons from his father at the age of five. Since then, he has studied with Yuri Petrossian and Nestor Eidler, who was a disciple of Szentgÿorgyi and David Oistrach. He gave his first recital at the age of six. When he was twelve years old, he made his debut with the Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra in Madrid, Spain. In March 2014, Paco Montalvo was included by Nestle as one of the four most outstanding violinists of the 21st century.

Career

Following his debut with the Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, Montalvo began a prolific public career, performing as a soloist with numerous orchestras and in festivals and recitals all over Europe, Asia, and America. At the age of 17, one of his international appearances was made with the Israel Symphony Orchestra in Tel-Aviv, Israel. The concert was such a success that, less than a year later, Montalvo was invited to perform as a soloist in the legendary Carnegie Hall.

Carnegie Hall

Carnegie Hall (/ˈkɑːrnᵻɡi/, also frequently /kɑːrˈneɪɡi/ or /kɑːrˈnɛɡi/) is a concert venue in Midtown Manhattan in New York City, United States, located at 881 Seventh Avenue, occupying the east stretch of Seventh Avenue between West 56th Street and West 57th Street, two blocks south of Central Park.

Designed by architect William Burnet Tuthill and built by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie in 1891, it is one of the most prestigious venues in the world for both classical music and popular music. Carnegie Hall has its own artistic programming, development, and marketing departments, and presents about 250 performances each season. It is also rented out to performing groups. The hall has not had a resident company since 1962, when the New York Philharmonic moved to Lincoln Center's Philharmonic Hall (renamed Avery Fisher Hall in 1973 and David Geffen Hall in 2015)

Carnegie Hall has 3,671 seats, divided among its three auditoriums.

Carnegie Hall presented about 200 concerts in the 2008–2009 season, up 3 percent from the previous year. Its stages were rented for an additional 600 events in the 2008–2009 season.

Paco

Paco is a Spanish nickname for Francisco. Another nickname for Francisco is Pancho.

One theory says that the nickname has its origins in Saint Francis of Assisi, who was the father of the Franciscan order. His name was written, in Latin, by the order as Pater Communitatis (Father of the community); hence, "Paco" was obtained by taking the first syllable of each word.. Another possibility is it comes from little children's defective pronunciation of their name as "Paquico".

Sometimes people with the name Francisco are also called Kiko. However, this nickname is more commonly used for Federico, Ricardo, or Enrique.

Paco is also a slang term for cocaine paste.

My Way

"My Way" is a song popularized by Frank Sinatra. Its lyrics were written by Paul Anka and set to music based on the French song "Comme d'habitude" co-composed, co-written and performed in 1967 by Claude François. Anka's English lyrics are unrelated to the original French song.

Background

Paul Anka heard the original 1967 French pop song, Comme d'habitude (As Usual) performed by Claude François, while on holiday in the south of France. He flew to Paris to negotiate the rights to the song. In a 2007 interview, he said, "I thought it was a bad record, but there was something in it." He acquired adaptation, recording, and publishing rights for the mere nominal or formal consideration of one dollar, subject to the provision that the melody's composers would retain their original share of royalty rights with respect to whatever versions Anka or his designates created or produced. Some time later, Anka had a dinner in Florida with Frank Sinatra and "a couple of Mob guys" during which Sinatra said "I'm quitting the business. I'm sick of it; I'm getting the hell out."
