Dallas, Texas, is located along the Trinity River. The famous landmark of "The Big D", as Dallas is often called, is the Reunion Tower.
The region's cattle herding history is captured in the Heritage Village and on central Pioneer Plaza. Another must-see is The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, which documents the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963. In the Arts District, the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center are popular with visitors.
The Dallas Zoo is great for children and the Dallas World Aquarium also has a jungle walk with monkeys. Families will also love the interactive displays in the Perot Museum Of Nature And Science or the Six Flags Over Texas theme park in Arlington.
Many visitors head out to Southfork Ranch, the mansion out of the famous soap opera Dallas. Don't leave Dallas without tasting a Texas BBQ in Uptown, the nightlife district.

8. Don't Take flash flood and Tornado warnings lightly.
Unless you’re fond of using your car as a flotation device or airplane.
Over the last 60 years a total of 172 tornadoes have been reported in either Tarrant or Dallas counties.

Internet and Telephone cable service with stunningly bad reviews and reportedly lazy technicians!
3. Don’t drive anywhere during an ice storm
The ice is bla. Again, BLACK ICE. It sounds like a death metal band. The emphasis on “Death”.
Black ice is invisible frozen water puddles on roads.
4. Don’t Shop at Wal-Mart past midnight
Especially Super Wal-Mart. You will see things you can’t un-see.
5. Don't sit on a patio in peak summertime
Quit kidding yourself and pretending those patio misters are actually doing anything. Embrace the AC.
6. Don’t Leave your car outside when there’s hail forecast
Goodness gracious great balls of, ICE.
7. Don’t Go to IKEA in Frisco on a Saturday
Unless you’ve always been curious what hell looks like.
8. Don't Take flash flood and Tornado warnings lightly.
Unless you’re fond of using your car as a flotation device or airplane.
Over the last 60 years a total of 172 tornadoes have been reported in either Tarrant or Dallas counties.

To showcase how easy and cheap it can be to see the country, I do not take any time off of work (I have to work a full 40 hours on each side of the weekend). The second shooting may only have been fictional but, when J R Ewing was shot by an unknown killer in the TV series Dallas in the early 1980s, fans across the world were devastated. Even today, the legend of J R remains strong, as does the legacy of President Kennedy.
Today the city is a mecca for the banking, electronics and oil industries, as well as for dining, shopping, arts and entertainment. Large scale developments of urban lofts, apartments, condominiums, retail and both indoor and outdoor recreational facilities are springing up across the city. An impressive new Dallas Center for the Performing Arts opened in 2009 to vie with New York's Lincoln Center. New facilities and relevant attractions in and around this cultural centre continue to grow.
Among things you probably didn't know about Dallas: The city has the largest urban arts district in the United States spanning 19 blocks. What's more, the Dallas Arts District has more buildings designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architects in one contiguous location than anywhere else in the world. And Dallas' Fair Park, just a short distance east of the arts district and a district with numerous museums and venues, features the nation's largest collection of 1930s Art Deco, exposition-style architecture.
Dallas offers true Southern hospitality, be it in a humble hideaway cocktail bar or in the Mansion on Turtle Creek, repeatedly and regularly ranked as one of the world's top hotels. And with a 10th of its workforce in the hospitality industry, Dallas is always happy to have y'all come on in and stick around awhile.
Those wishing to explore further afield should take the busy freeway 30 miles to the west to the easy-going, cattle-driving, twin city of Fort Worth, home to a national historic district and a surprising stash of world-class art museums.
The similarities between the two include a stunning rate of business and population growth, in spite of a sluggish recent economy; a shared passion for the pro sports teams, including the Dallas Cowboys, whose new billion-dollar stadium is now in Tarrant County instead of Dallas; and a great pride in being Texan.

03. Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden
A 66-acre botanical garden. A series of gardens and fountains. Among the plants and horticulture is a collection of azaleas that includes 2,400 varieties. The Dallas climate allows visitors to find flowers in bloom year round.
04. Dallas Zoo
A 106-acre (43 ha) zoo. Established in 1888, it is the oldest and largest zoological park in Texas. Home to over 2,000 animals representing 406 species. The zoo's first purchase was two deer and two mountain lions for $60 from a private seller.
05. Nasher Sculpture Center

01. Dallas World Aquarium
A for-profit aquarium and zoo. Was opened in October 1992. The upper level of the aquarium is an artificial reproduction of the Orinoco Rainforest. The lower level houses aquaria featuring fish, sea anemones, coral, jellyfish, and other sea animals from around the world.
02. Dealey Plaza
The location of the assassination of John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. Was named a National Historic Landmark in 1993 to preserve Dealey Plaza, street rights-of-way, and buildings and structures by the plaza visible from the assassination site.
03. Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden
A 66-acre botanical garden. A series of gardens and fountains. Among the plants and horticulture is a collection of azaleas that includes 2,400 varieties. The Dallas climate allows visitors to find flowers in bloom year round.
04. Dallas Zoo
A 106-acre (43 ha) zoo. Established in 1888, it is the oldest and largest zoological park in Texas. Home to over 2,000 animals representing 406 species. The zoo's first purchase was two deer and two mountain lions for $60 from a private seller.

3. Don’t drive anywhere during an ice storm
The ice is bla. Again, BLACK ICE. It sounds like a death metal band. The emphasis on “Death”.
Black ice is invisible frozen water puddles on roads.
4. Don’t Shop at Wal-Mart past midnight
Especially Super Wal-Mart. You will see things you can’t un-see.
5. Don't sit on a patio in peak summertime
Quit kidding yourself and pretending those patio misters are actually doing anything. Embrace the AC.
6. Don’t Leave your car outside when there’s hail forecast
Goodness gracious great balls of, ICE.
7. Don’t Go to IKEA in Frisco on a Saturday
Unless you’ve always been curious what hell looks like.
8. Don't Take flash flood and Tornado warnings lightly.
Unless you’re fond of using your car as a flotation device or airplane.
Over the last 60 years a total of 172 tornadoes have been reported in either Tarrant or Dallas counties.
