The Montrose Rollerblader Texas’s very own Juan Carlos is better known as the Montrose Rollerblader Dancer, an entertainment personality you probably have seen from watching a few episodes of America’s Got Talent a few seasons ago. For years he’s been a source of entertainment for the people of Houston and then 4 years ago got his big break on television for landing an audition on the variety competition. On the subject of the Montrose Rollerblader, in an interview on The Today Show, Mandel comments that he has no idea what this guy does since it doesn’t fit any categories beside the broadest sense of entertainment. 6. The Houston Bat Man Back in the year 1953, residents in the Heights of Houston had reported seeing a man-like figure lurking in the shadows of their residential neighborhood. What was even more unsettling was that this unknown figure had what was described as bat wings. Residents see man with bat wings in Heights, Houston, 1953. And much more recently in 2012, those living in Houston had again reported seeing a tall man, about 6 foot if not taller, darting across the street at night with bat wings attached to his back. This bat man or man bat had apparently lingered in the area for about 30 seconds before darting away. What was once an urban legend has again resurfaced decades later, with many people wondering just what it is they really saw. 5. Congress Bridge Bats And then there are the real bats what we know for sure are there. On Congress Bridge in Austin is a phenomenon that brings in crowds of visitors to the bridge every night from the months of March to November. About 1.5 million Mexican free tail bats take flight, starting from under the bridge as they go out and forage for food. It is noted to be the largest urban bat colony in North America, which is located right over Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin. The bridge was constructed back in 1980, with engineers not realizing that millions of bats would one day make it their home. The bats weren’t so warmly welcome at first, but now it’s a huge attraction for visitors in the city. 4. The Naked Unicyclist Another sight motorists got a full view of on a bridge is this man who decided to ride his unicycle with no clothes on. The unicyclist was taken in by authorities after having been spotted on his ride not wearing any clothes on this road in Kemah. The man is known as Joseph Glynn Farley of Clear Lake. He’d apparently been spotted by the motorist on the bridge the whole week, but it didn’t raise any alarm since all those other times he had been clothed. 3. Vampire Bites Galveston Woman Yup, you heard that right. What’s up with this vampire and bat motif going on? This man, Lyle Monroe Bensley, had been apprehended after he broke into a woman’s home to bite her, telling the woman that he needed to feed. And apparently he had been growling and hissing all the while, as well. What’s more is that he also was said to have begged the authorities to restrain him since he didn’t want to hurt anyone and that he just needed to feed. To top it all off, the 19 year old also claimed he was a 500 year old vampire and was not under the influence of any drugs. 2. Couple Captures Chupacabra Photos of this creature hit the internet, with articles and videos claiming it was a chupacabra captured in Texas. A Texas couple claimed to have captured themselves a live chupacabra after it had wandered into their garden. They came across the hairless animal as it growled eating corn from one of their trees. The story hit the corners of the internet that were convinced this was in fact a legendary goat eating creature of lore. The couple was then informed that the animal they had was in fact infected with mange disease. Aliens In 2014, a surge of photos appeared on the internet after people claimed to have spotted UFOs flying over the skies of Houston. Many people concluded that the photos must be photoshopped and that it was all a hoax or maybe the lights were just flares, though nearly just as many people aren’t so sure. In addition to these photos, a woman had apparently spotted a pink UFO on google maps when she was trying to find directions to Jacksonville. Is it too much of a coincidence? Or do the aliens really like to make prominent appearances over the expansive southern state?
