Well, we’ve wondered the exact same thing. We turned to two of Grist’s resident public transportation aficionados, Ben Adler and Heather Smith, to help us answer that question and also figure out how we can make all our buses and rails work for us, not against us. Public transport is a favorite topic of discussion, too. For example, you might need to ask how to get somewhere, or tell somebody how your trip was.
So, how do you do it? Let's take a look at the phrases and conversation skills that you can use to discuss things related to transportation.

Public transport
Public transport (North American English: public transportation, public transit, or mass transit) is a shared passenger transport service which is available for use by the general public, as distinct from modes such as taxicab, carpooling or hired buses which are not shared by strangers without private arrangement.
Public transport modes include city buses, trolleybuses, trams (or light rail) and passenger trains, rapid transit (metro/subways/undergrounds etc) and ferries. Public transport between cities is dominated by airlines, coaches, and intercity rail. High-speed rail networks are being developed in many parts of the world. Most public transport runs to a scheduled timetable with the most frequent services running to a headway (e.g.: "every 5 minutes" as opposed to being scheduled for any specific time of the day). Share taxis offer on-demand services in many parts of the world, and some services will wait until the vehicle is full before it starts. Paratransit is sometimes used in areas of low-demand and for people who need a door-to-door service.

We turned to two of Grist’s resident public transportation aficionados, Ben Adler and Heather Smith, to help us answer that question and also figure out how we can make all our buses and rails work for us, not against us. Well, we’ve wondered the exact same thing. We turned to two of Grist’s resident public transportation aficionados, Ben Adler and Heather Smith, to help us answer that question and also figure out how we can make all our buses and rails work for us, not against us. Howdy guys! Thanks for stopping by, today in the city we're making ourselves a nifty central transit hub. The goal of them is to basically act like a big linking point between all your types of public transit.
Generally speaking you'll want these to be in areas that essentially make sense and have a decent amount of people passing on by. You wouldn't want this to be way out of the outskirts of town where no one would use it. You'd want this downtown, or near some stadiums or convention centers, just somewhere logical.
Now the whole idea behind this video is to just give you guys some inspiration - so don't feel like you have to try and recreate something identical to this every time :)
