Asit Sen may refer to:
Shammi Kapoor (born Shamsher Raj Kapoor; 21 October 1931 – 14 August 2011) was an Indian film actor and director. He was a prominent lead actor in Hindi cinema from the late 1950s until the early 1970s and also make a debut in Tamil cinema via 1992 blockbuster crime drama Amaran. He received the Filmfare Best Actor Award in 1968 for his performance in Brahmachari and Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for Vidhaata in 1982.
Shammi Kapoor is hailed as one of the most entertaining lead actors that Hindi cinema has ever produced. He was one of the leading stars of Hindi cinema during the late 1950s, the 1960s and early '70s. He made his Hindi Film debut in 1953 with the film Jeevan Jyoti, and went on to deliver hits like Tumsa Nahin Dekha, Dil Deke Dekho, Singapore, Junglee, College Girl, Professor, China Town, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Kashmir Ki Kali, Janwar, Teesri Manzil, An Evening in Paris, Bramhachari, Andaz and Sachaai.
He was given the name Shamsher Raj Kapoor at his birth in Bombay (now Mumbai) to film and theatre actor Prithviraj Kapoor and Ramsharni Kapoor (née Mehra). Shammi was the second of the three sons born to Prithviraj (the other two being Raj Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor, both successful Hindi Film actors).
Rajesh Khanna ( pronunciation born Jatin Khanna; 29 December 1942 – 18 July 2012) was a Bollywood actor, film producer and politician. He is referred to as the "first superstar" and the "original superstar" of Indian cinema. He starred in 15 consecutive solo hit films in the period 1969 to 1971.
He made his debut in 1966 with Aakhri Khat. Through his career he appeared in more than 160 feature films and 17 short films. He received the Filmfare Best Actor Award award three times and the BFJA Awards for Best Actor (Hindi) four times. In 1991, he was awarded the Filmfare Special Award and in 2005, he received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. He was the highest paid Indian actor from 1970 to 1987 where Amitabh Bachchan shared the same tag with Khanna from 1980 to 1987.
He was also a Lok Sabha member of the Indian National Congress from New Delhi constituency from 1992 to 1996.
He married Dimple Kapadia in March 1973, eight months before her debut film Bobby was released and had two daughters from the marriage. Their elder daughter Twinkle Khanna is married to actor Akshay Kumar, while they also have a younger daughter Rinke Khanna.
Usha Kiran (22 April 1929 – 9 March 2000) was a Hindi and Marathi film actress. In a career spanning over four decades she acted in over 50 Hindi and Marathi films, notably Daag (1952), Patita (1953), Baadbaan (1954), Chupke Chupke (1975), Mili (1975) and Bawarchi (1972). She was also the Sheriff of Mumbai during 1996–97.
She began her acting career on stage with M. G. Rangnekar's Marathi play Ashirwad. She enter Hindi film industry with a small role in Uday Shankar's dance-drama film, Kalpana (1948). She went on to act in numerous popular Hindi films are Nazrana (1961), Daag (1952), and Baadbaan (1954), for which she won the very first Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1955 Kabuliwala (1961), Patita (1953), Mili, Bawarchi (1972) and Chupke Chupke (1975).
Her famous Marathi films include, Shikleli Bayko, Jasach Tase, Postatli Mulgi, Dudh Bhakar, Stree Janma Hi Tuzi Kahani, Kanyadaan (for which she received the Maharashtra Government's award for best actress) Gariba Gharchi Lek, and Kanchanganga.
Sujit Kumar (born Shamsher Singh), 7 February 1934 – 5 February 2010, was an Indian film actor and producer. He appeared in over 150 Hindi films in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, and 25 films in Bhojpuri. From the late 90s, he primarily worked with production. Kumar was considered a major actor in Bhojpuri cinema. He played pivotal roles either as a villain or as a character actor. One of his most notable roles was as a man playing the mouth organ while driving a jeep in the 1969 film Aradhana.
Sujit was the leading man in the suspense flicks in Hindi in early sixties like Lal Bangla (1966) and Ek Saal Pehle (1965). He was always part of the films with Rajesh Khanna as the lead hero like in 'Aradhana', Ittefaq, Aan Milo Sajna, Haathi Mere Saathi, Amar Prem, Mere Jeevan Saathi, Roti, Mehbooba, Avtaar, Aakhir Kyon?, Amrit.
His other notable roles include that of a spy in Ramanand Sagar's Aankein (1968), Naya Raasta (1970), Jugnu (1973), Hamrahi (1999), Charas (1976), Dharamveer (1977), Dev Anand's Des Pardes, Burning Train, Kaamchor, Krantiveer, Tiranga and many more. He produced big budget movies like Asmaan Se Ooncha (1989), Daraar (1996) Champion (2000), Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam (2009) . His best friends from the film industry were Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra, Rakesh Roshan, the two with whom Sujit used to hit the gym regularly and other close friends included producer Saawan Kumar Tak and Randhir Kapoor as all of them practically grew up together in the Hindi Film industry since the early sixties.
Asit Sen was a prolific Indian film actor and comedian in the Hindi film industry. He starred in over 200 films between 1953 and 1993 until his death. He often portrayed a character with authority, such as a police inspector or landlord, but with comedic effect, mostly as a slow-speaking person. His acting career was particularly prolific in the 1960s, 1970s, and early 1980s. He had a very thin voice, in striking contrast to his huge physical frame.
