Adam Schefter (born December 21, 1966) is an American sports writer and television analyst.
Schefter was born to a Jewish family in Valley Stream, New York, and grew up in Bellmore, New York, where he attended John F. Kennedy High School, graduating in June 1985. He is a 1989 graduate of the University of Michigan and a graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. Schefter was an editor at The Michigan Daily, where he began his newspaper career. While at Northwestern, Schefter worked as a freelance reporter for the Chicago Tribune. After graduating from Northwestern in June 1990, Schefter was an intern for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer before moving to Denver in 1990, when he started writing for the Rocky Mountain News in September 1990 and then The Denver Post in July 1996.
Schefter joined the NFL Network in 2004 and appeared on NFL Total Access and also wrote for NFL.COM. Before joining the NFL Network, Schefter appeared five times on ESPN's Around the Horn as a substitute for Woody Paige, who was based in Denver at the time. Before Around the Horn, Schefter appeared on ESPN's The Sports Reporters. Schefter appeared on NBC twice in the summer of 2008, working as the sideline reporter for Al Michaels and John Madden during the Redskins-Colts Hall-of-Fame game and then the Redskins-Jaguars preseason finale.
Adam (Hebrew: אָדָם; Aramaic/Syriac: ܐܕܡ; Arabic: آدم) is a figure from the Book of Genesis who is also mentioned in the New Testament, the deuterocanonical books, the Quran, the Book of Mormon, and the Book of Iqan. According to the creation myth of the Abrahamic religions, he was the first human.
In the Genesis creation narratives, he was created by Yahweh-Elohim ("Yahweh-God", the god of Israel), though the term "adam" can refer to both the first individual person, as well as to the general creation of humankind. Christian churches differ on how they view Adam's subsequent behavior of disobeying God (often called the Fall of man), and to the consequences that those actions had on the rest of humanity. Christian and Jewish teachings sometimes hold Adam and Eve (the first woman) to a different level of responsibility for the Fall, though Islamic teaching holds both equally responsible. In addition, Islam holds that Adam was eventually forgiven, while Christianity holds that redemption occurred only later through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The Bahá'í Faith, Islam and some Christian denominations consider Adam to be the first prophet.
Frank Caliendo (born January 19, 1974) is an American comedian and impressionist, best known for his work on the Fox Network television series MADtv, and as the in-house prognosticator for Fox NFL Sunday. In 2007 and 2008, he performed his impersonations on his own show, Frank TV, which aired on TBS. He is known for his impressions of Charles Barkley, NFL color commentator John Madden, sportscaster Jim Rome, comedian Robin Williams, actors Morgan Freeman and William Shatner, and United States Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, and for his frequent appearances on The Bob & Tom Show. He has released six solo CDs, and has performed as many as 120 impressions. From 2009 to 2011 he had a show at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. He now tours.
Caliendo was born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 19, 1974, and grew up in Waukesha, Wisconsin, where he attended Waukesha South High School. He is of Italian ancestry. Before graduating from University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, Caliendo began performing stand-up comedy at many different local night clubs and comedy clubs, eventually taking a job as a master of ceremonies at a local comedy club. Frank quickly became known for his spot on impressions of Columbo, the Seinfeld cast, Jonathan Winters, and many more which he mastered while bedridden after a painful back surgery. Within just a few years, he was very active on the college circuit, driving thousands of miles in his car. During these years, he built a reputation as one of the circuit's top performers. Between 2000 and 2001, Caliendo made his television debut on sketch comedy series Hype and later gaining significant national exposure on the comedy series MADtv.
ESPN (originally an acronym for Entertainment and Sports Programming Network) is a U.S.-based global cable and satellite television channel owned by ESPN Inc., a joint venture between The Walt Disney Company (which operates the network) and the Hearst Corporation (which owns a 20% minority share).
ESPN broadcasts primarily from studio facilities located in Bristol, Connecticut. The network also operates offices in Miami, New York City, Seattle, Charlotte, and Los Angeles. John Skipper currently serves as president of ESPN, a position he has held since January 1, 2012. While ESPN is one of the most successful sports networks, there has been much criticism of ESPN, which includes accusations of biased coverage, conflict of interest, and controversies with individual broadcasters and analysts.
As of February 2015, ESPN is available to approximately 94,396,000 paid television households (81.1% of households with at least one television set) in the United States. In addition to the flagship channel and its seven related channels in the United States, ESPN broadcasts in more than 200 countries, operating regional channels in Australia, Brazil, Latin America and the United Kingdom, and owning a 20% interest in The Sports Network (TSN) as well as its five sister networks and NHL Network in Canada.
NFL 2K (also known as Sega Sports' NFL 2K) is the first installment of the NFL 2K series. The game, published by Sega Sports and developed by Visual Concepts, was released exclusively for the Dreamcast on its September 9, 1999 launch date in North America. As the foremost "2K" title, it marked the beginning of a running athletics series that eventually led to the spinning off of 2K's sports publishing business under the name of 2K Sports. The cover features Randy Moss of the Minnesota Vikings.
After Visual Concepts developed a version of Madden NFL '96, which was planned to be the first NFL game on the PlayStation, the game was canceled as it did not meet EA's quality assurance standards. Visual Concepts would later develop NFL 2K to address EA Sports's decision not to publish games, including the Madden NFL series, for the Dreamcast. NFL 2K was the first football game released for a 6th generation console.
All 31 NFL teams (including the returning Cleveland Browns), alumni teams, and All-Pro teams for the AFC, NFC, and NFL are included in the game. Rosters reflect the 1999 NFL season. Game modes featured in the game include Exhibition, Seasons, Playoffs, Practice, and customization modes. The commentary is by the fictional Dan Stevens (Terry McGovern) and Peter O'Keefe (Jay Styne), with occasional sideline reports from the fictional Michelle Westphal (Marcia Perry).
