Bay Ridge is a neighborhood in the southwest corner of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. It is bounded by Sunset Park on the north, Dyker Heights on the east, the Narrows and the Belt Parkway on the west, and the Verrazano Bridge on the south. Some sources list Fort Hamilton as a separate neighborhood, and some as a section of Bay Ridge.
The first Dutch settlers began farming here in the 17th century. Well into the 19th century, what’s now considered Bay Ridge consisted of two sister villages: Yellow Hook to the north, named for the color of the soil, and Fort Hamilton to the south, named for the military installation at its center. The latter began to develop in the 1830s as a resort destination to lodge visitors to the army base. The former began to develop after 1850, when a group of artists moved to the area and founded a colony called Ovington Village; before that, it was mostly farmland.
In the 1850s, the village changed the community’s name to avoid association with yellow fever. "Bay Ridge" was suggested by local horticulturist James Weir after the area’s most prominent geographic features: the high ridge that offered views of New York Bay. The natural beauty attracted the wealthy, who built country homes along Shore Road, overlooking the water. By World War II, almost all of these large houses had been replaced with apartment buildings.
New York is a state in the Northeastern United States and is the United States' 27th-most extensive, fourth-most populous, and seventh-most densely populated state. New York is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south and Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont to the east. The state has a maritime border in the Atlantic Ocean with Rhode Island, east of Long Island, as well as an international border with the Canadian provinces of Quebec to the north and Ontario to the west and north. The state of New York, with an estimated 19.8 million residents in 2015, is often referred to as New York State to distinguish it from New York City, the state's most populous city and its economic hub.
With an estimated population of nearly 8.5 million in 2014, New York City is the most populous city in the United States and the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States. The New York City Metropolitan Area is one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world. New York City is a global city, exerting a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, its fast pace defining the term New York minute. The home of the United Nations Headquarters, New York City is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural and financial capital of the world, as well as the world's most economically powerful city. New York City makes up over 40% of the population of New York State. Two-thirds of the state's population lives in the New York City Metropolitan Area, and nearly 40% live on Long Island. Both the state and New York City were named for the 17th century Duke of York, future King James II of England. The next four most populous cities in the state are Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Syracuse, while the state capital is Albany.

The unarmed shirtless man was the only one arrested, because the man in yellow is a correctional officer in a jail. Nice detective work pigs. The man in yellow was chasing the unarmed man around trying to whip him with his belt, his son is in grey. I would have helped the unarmed guy, but it was hard to tell what was going on when I arrived. If I see the guy in yellow around, I got something for him. All the witnesses were asking the cops to arrest the man in yellow, but the bacon was too greasy that day.

Board a train in Long Island, bound directly for New Jersey! In this WEBEO, I explore the possibilities of extending the Long Island Rail Road to New Jersey via Brooklyn and Staten Island. Currently, NJ and Long Island are some of the most densely populated regions in the USA, but don’t currently have a direct train service. Given the significant interaction between the two places, a direct train line bypassing Manhattan would be a big boon to tourists and commuters alike. Under this proposal, JFK Airport will be directly connected with New Jersey, and northern Staten Island will finally get a commuter rail line to St. George for the ferry. In addition, this same line serves as a perimeter metro in Brooklyn, connecting with the R, D, N, 2, 5, A, C, J, Z, and L trains, allowing travel fr...
