Passengers at Sydney Airport have been left waiting for their flights to open after being told to arrive at the airport two or more hours early.
Qantas, Virgin and Jetstar were advising their passengers to arrive early but then told passengers arriving at the airport they would have to wait to check in their bags.

"My friend works at the Cairns airport and she sent me an email saying that security airport everywhere has been increased and to be at the airport two hours earlier," said Georgie.
"We're here too early. We have to wait ages now for our plane because they said to be here early," said Brianna.

Another passenger, Anthony, was left waiting in the airport check-in area with his partner after being advised to arrive early.
"We've checked in but we're just waiting to drop bags because we were here too early," said Anthony. "It's annoying but it is what it is, there's not much we can do about it."
A passenger flying with Jetstar, Toby, hadn't been told to expect delays but said his family had no delays checking in.
"I travel about once a month and it actually looks quieter than it normally is," he said.
Queues during the morning were longer but had all but disappeared by lunchtime on Sunday.
The Qantas domestic terminal at Sydney airport had almost no queues through security on Sunday afternoon despite still advising passengers to arrive two hours early.
Increased security measures had been increased at Sydney on Thursday but only introduced at other major Australian airports on Sunday.
