UPDATE: I was incorrect when talking about slow motion on the a6300. Here is how you can activate in camera conforming. Info from user MobFactory: Andrea.
"You need to switch it one of the HFR Mode (either P S A M etc) in the quick menu (Fn button while in video mode). Then you can just go into the menu as usual and select your record setting as usual (24p 100m, 24p 60m,etc.). From my testing the compression seems to be a bit better when you do it this way but it does mean you loose audio."

When Panasonic revealed the specs of the new Panasonic GH5, every indie filmmaker, including myself, were stoked. But how good is the GH5 in real life? Let's compare it against the GH4 in this quick video quality comparison.
In this video we compare:
- Low Light ISO
- Dynamic Range
- Crop
- Stabilisation
- Rolling shutter
- Slow motion
- Overall video quality
Ps. Looks like the internal Apple Prores recording in the GH5 was just a rumour. The text in this video is therefore wrong. It should be H.264 instead of prores :)
Since the 10bit in the GH5 won't give you better video quality than 8 bit (unless you do you heavy color grading) and as we didn't have much time to test the camera on location nor in post, we didn't include 10bit in this test.
To make the test as fair as possible, both cameras used a speedbooster together with the Sigma 18-35mm lens. We shot with the same settings and the same picture profile Cinelike D with -5 contrast (the rest was set to 0). I added the Filmconvert Pro LUT in post, without film grain.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH4
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH4 is a digital camera with Cinema 4K resolution video recording capability that is part of the Micro Four Thirds System as the world's first Mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera with 4K video recording capability.
The emphasis of the camera is the video with Venus Engine IX processor allow for 4K video and 12 fps continuous shooting. As a 4K video camera, it can be categorized as a pro-level video camera that can record in Cinema 4K mode (4096 x 2160) or standard 4K-UHD (3840 x 2160) using IPB compression in 100Mbit/s. In Full 1080p HD there are two options, 200Mbit/s in ALL-Intra compression, or 100Mbit/s with no recording time limit. The camera also provides MOV, MP4, AVCHD Progressive, and AVCHD video formats at a variety of frame rates according to the usage; and options for VFR (Variable Frame Rate) or Time Lapse/Stop Motion Animation without the need for post-production processing.
Autofocus needs only 0.07 seconds with the 'Depth from Defocus' autofocus system. The camera also has Wi-Fi with NFC, PC sync port, highlight and shadow control, and a 'silent mode' which uses the electronic shutter only. Video shooting include focus peaking, zebra pattern, luminance level adjustment, and cinema gamma presets. An optional 'interface unit' adds five SDI and two XLR terminals, and permits 10-bit 4:2:2 output with time code.

When Panasonic revealed the specs of the new Panasonic GH5, every indie filmmaker, including myself, were stoked. But how good is the GH5 in real life? Let's compare it against the GH4 in this quick video quality comparison. In this video we compare: - Low Light ISO - Dynamic Range - Crop - Stabilisation - Rolling shutter - Slow motion - Overall video quality Ps. Looks like the internal Apple Prores recording in the GH5 was just a rumour. The text in this video is therefore wrong. It should be H.264 instead of prores :) Since the 10bit in the GH5 won't give you better video quality than 8 bit (unless you do you heavy color grading) and as we didn't have much time to test the camera on location nor in post, we didn't include 10bit in this test. To make the test as fair as possible, both cameras used a speedbooster together with the Sigma 18-35mm lens. We shot with the same settings and the same picture profile Cinelike D with -5 contrast (the rest was set to 0). I added the Filmconvert Pro LUT in post, without film grain. "You need to switch it one of the HFR Mode (either P S A M etc) in the quick menu (Fn button while in video mode). Then you can just go into the menu as usual and select your record setting as usual (24p 100m, 24p 60m,etc.). From my testing the compression seems to be a bit better when you do it this way but it does mean you loose audio."

When Panasonic revealed the specs of the new Panasonic GH5, every indie filmmaker, including myself, were stoked. But how good is the GH5 in real life? Let's compare it against the GH4 in this quick video quality comparison.
In this video we compare:
- Low Light ISO
- Dynamic Range
- Crop
- Stabilisation
- Rolling shutter
- Slow motion
- Overall video quality
Ps. Looks like the internal Apple Prores recording in the GH5 was just a rumour. The text in this video is therefore wrong. It should be H.264 instead of prores :)
Since the 10bit in the GH5 won't give you better video quality than 8 bit (unless you do you heavy color grading) and as we didn't have much time to test the camera on location nor in post, we didn't include 10bit in this test.
To make the test as fair as possible, both cameras used a speedbooster together with the Sigma 18-35mm lens. We shot with the same settings and the same picture profile Cinelike D with -5 contrast (the rest was set to 0). I added the Filmconvert Pro LUT in post, without film grain.

Not only to create good looking images, but also to be able to work productively. I’ve been using the GH4 for over a year, in several different, projects.
