Many parents set out on their journey to parenthood with the full intention of showing their offspring the world. Others like to show their dedication to a particular location by naming their baby after that place.
There's no denying the celebrity cachet that comes with a place name. Victoria and David Beckham named their first born son Brooklyn in 1999, with many other celebrities and their babies bearing place names as first or middles names - other examples include Ireland Baldwin (daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger), India Hemsworth (daughter of Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky), Tennessee Toth (son of Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth), and Penelope Scotland Disick (daughter of Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick).
So if the idea of a place name appeals, cast your eye over this list. We haven't divided them into girls and boys because so many of them easily traverse the gender divide. You can click on most of the names to see their meanings and origins.
