Ween

Ween is an American alternative rock band formed in New Hope, Pennsylvania in 1984 by childhood friends Aaron Freeman and Mickey Melchiondo Jr.. After meeting in a middle school typing class, the two began playing music and immediately chose the name Ween as well as pseudonyms Gene Ween (Freeman) and Dean Ween (Melchiondo), a choice inspired by The Ramones. Ween performed as a duo backed by a Digital Audio Tape for the band's first ten years of existence before expanding to a four (and later five) piece act.

The band's style is eclectic, and while they can generally be referred to as rock music, experimentation with various styles incorporating a strong element of humor and absurdity has been one of their defining tendencies. Ween developed a large, devoted cult following. After a 28-year run, Freeman quit the band in 2012, effectively ending the project.

In November 2015, Ween announced that they would reunite in February 2016 for three shows in Colorado, with later dates subsequently announced.

The Mollusk

The Mollusk is the sixth full-length album by the band Ween, released by Elektra Records on June 24, 1997. It is a multigenre concept album with a dark nautical theme, with most songs incorporating psychedelic elements while also featuring a heavy progressive rock influence. According to Dean Ween, "I will say that the only record that I ever felt really confident about was The Mollusk. That's my favorite record we've ever done."

Electric Six covered the song "Buckingham Green" on their cover-album Mimicry and Memories (2015).

Background

Starting with the release of their 1994 album Chocolate and Cheese, Aaron Freeman and Mickey Melchiondo—known by their stage names Gene and Dean Ween, respectively—began to significantly enhance their approach to studio recording. While their earlier albums were almost entirely recorded by Freeman and Melchiondo themselves at their home using a 4-track recorder, Chocolate and Cheese marked the first time the band produced an album in a professional recording studio. It also notably began their transition from a duo to a more traditional band with the addition of drummer Claude Coleman, allowing Freeman and Melchiondo to experiment with a wider range of musical styles than they could with the drum machine used on previous releases.

Mickey Avalon (album)

Mickey Avalon is the self-titled debut album from rapper Mickey Avalon. The album was released on MySpace Records in association with Interscope/Shoot to Kill Records on November 7, 2006. Avalon describes the album as "a glam rap record about Hollywood's seedy underbelly and the ugliness of my own life."

The popularity of the hidden track "My Dick" eclipsed that of the album itself, due to its being featured in Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay and The Rebound, as well as the TV series Hung and American Dad!. The song's lyrics are a series of humorous similes which favorably contrast the rappers' penises with that of another (unspecified) person.

Additionally, "Jane Fonda" was featured briefly in an episode of Entourage and the films The Rebound and I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell.

It's Gonna Be

"It's Gonna Be" is the third single by American singer Norah Jones from her fourth album, The Fall. It was released exclusively in April 2010 for North America. It charted on the Billboard Triple A Chart and peak on airplay chart at #11.

Promotion

Jones performed the song on Later... with Jools Holland on November 5, 2009; as well as on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on April 23, 2010. Jones reappeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on June 25 and performed "It's Gonna Be" on the show for a second time. She also performed the song on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on August 31, 2010.
