Woman dies after falling from waterfall at Wentworth Falls

A woman has died after she fell from a waterfall at the Blue Mountains on Friday afternoon.

Police say the woman was at the top of a waterfall at Wentworth Falls at about 3pm, when she fell about 100 metres to the ground.

They described the incident as not suspicious. The woman has not been identified. 

"Emergency services were called to Falls Road just after 3pm, after reports a woman fell from a waterfall," a police spokeswoman said on Friday.

"The woman died at the scene.

A NSW Ambulance helicopter was seen hovering over the area of dense bushland on Friday afternoon.

The area where the woman fell appears to be Fletchers Lookout, a picturesque lookout popular with tourists that is at a cliff-edge, with a sheer drop.
