De tribus puellis

De tribus puellis or The Three Girls is an anonymous medieval Latin poem, a narrative elegiac comedy (or fabliau) written probably in France during the twelfth or early thirteenth century. The metre (elegiac couplets) and theme (love) are modelled so thoroughly on Ovid (augmented with quotations from him) that it is ascribed to him in the two fifteenth-century manuscripts in which it is preserved.

The poem exists in several incunabula. Its first modern edition was published by Gustave Cohen in La "Comédie" latine en France au XIIe siècle (1931) with modern French translation. A second critical edition with an Italian translation by Stefano Pittaluga was published in Ferruccio Bertini, Commedie latine del XII e XIII secolo, volume 1 (1976). An English translation, with notes and a commentary but without accompanying Latin text, was prepared by Alison Goddard Elliot for the Garland Library of Medieval Literature (Seven Medieval Latin Comedies, 1984).

The plot of De tribus puellis involves the chance meeting of the narrator and three young maidens contesting the title of best singer. They implore the poet to judge their songs and all four turn off the road to a meadow to hold the competition. The first girl sings a song about battles and "fights with giants". The second girl sang of Paris, but it is the third girl, on whom the poet has already expended over twenty lines praising, who sings the best, for she sang of Jupiter and Europa. The rest of the poem describes the narrator's evening with the third girl, how they ate dinner and how they went to bed together. The poem ends, of course, immediately before the consummatory act. "Did it turn out well?" the poet asks, "Love knows all."

Weather Girls

Weather Girls was a group of Japanese idols from Taiwan. Originally, the group was formed in 2010 and acted as weather forecasters on television and the internet for Taiwan and the United States. After attracting attention in Japan, seven of its members, one for each day of the week, were selected to debut as an idol group in Japan in 2012. They are the first Taiwanese girl group to come to Japan.

In Japan, the group was under Pony Canyon and was managed by Ritz Productions. Jeff Miyahara was the producer of the group. After its debut, the group had continuously performed in all regions of the coutry. Its members had also starred in dramas, hosted television shows, and sung television theme songs. The group had released six Japanese singles and one Japanese album amongst other things.

In 2013, the group also debuted as a musical group in Taiwan. The group issued a Mandarin album in the following year. In its homeland, the group was under FEMC and was managed by L Motion Entertainment. Its producer was Bryan Chen (陳國華). However, the group had declined after coming back to Taiwan and its alleged conflicts with FEMC had resulted in some members leaving the group and having been sued by the company. Accumulated conflicts eventually led to the dissolution of the group at the end of 2015.

The Weather

The Weather is a collaboration album among rappers Busdriver and Radioinactive and record producer Daedelus. It was released on Mush Records in 2003.

Reception

The Weather received mixed reviews from critics. Julianne Shepherd of Pitchfork Media praised the album, commenting: "The Weather is smart but not pretentious, skeptical but not misanthropic, and it proves avant-hiphop doesn't have to be avant-crappy." Meanwhile, Fredrick Thomas of Stylus Magazine criticized the album's consistency, saying: "It’s not that any track on the album is actually bad when compared to artists doing similar work – it’s just that it does nothing to differentiate them from the pack."

Eric K. Arnold of East Bay Express felt that "Busdriver and Radioinactive's rhyming cadences owe a debt to both Freestyle Fellowship and Latyrx, while Daedelus' lo-fi Casio tones could qualify him for at least a charter membership in Anticon."

The Weather Girls

The Weather Girls, also known as Two Tons o' Fun (especially during the early portion of their career), was composed of singers Izora Armstead and Martha Wash. The duo charted several dance hits over the course of its career, with its peak in popularity having occurred in 1982, when the group released the hit song "It's Raining Men."

The rights to the name "The Weather Girls" are currently held by Dynelle Rhodes, the daughter of founding Weather Girl, Izora Armstead. Rhodes does not currently have a singing partner.
