Gianni Ferrio's Io, Emmanuelle
17-Jul-2017 - Quartet Records in collaboration with Gruppo Sugar presents the premiere CD release of a Gianni Ferrio infectious, classy “Emmanuelle score.” Io, Emmanuelle (also known as A Man for Emmanuelle) was made in 1969, five years before the first entry of the popular erotic movie – and in fact has no relation to the famous franchise. Emmanuelle is a neurotic woman who is looking for tenderness in all the wrong places. She tries to enjoy sex, but the men she sleeps with are all either crude, selfish or arrogant with no real interest in her beside the carnal pleasures. Over the course of the film, she reaches out to all kinds of strange people with often depressing results. The music by Gianni Ferrio includes a series of self-contained pieces, each tailor-made for the increasingly crazier encounters with men.

While spending some time on the historic Nantucket Island, Annabelle and her friends must outwit two scheming thieves to solve the secret behind a legendary ghost story. “Some of the music cues called for large orchestration, while other subtle cues incorporated solos from instruments such as piano, flute, oboe, clarinet, cello and harp.“

Frand DeVol's Hustle/The Longest Yard
11-May-2017 - Quartet Records and Paramount Pictures are glad to present the world premiere release of the very cool score composed by Frank De Vol for Robert Aldrich’s neo-noir 1975 film Hustle. Hustle is about two weary and bitter LAPD detectives who are assigned to investigate the death of a young woman whose body is found on an isolated beach. They conclude, with the support of the coroner's report, that the victim, a hooker and known drug user named Gloria Hollinger, committed suicide using pills.  As a bonus, they have included the short score for The Longest Yard (1974), another De Vol-Aldrich-Reynolds-Paramount collaboration. For this cult sports comedy film about a workaholic convict who recruits a group of fellow prisoners to play football against their guards, De Vol composed another catchy tune as a main theme, along with some brief underscore cues and adaptations of famous Americans marches. Sadly, the session tapes of this soundtrack are long missing, so the only source that could be used was the mono stems, beautifully restored by Chris Malone for this release. The package includes a 16-page full-color booklet.

Epic, romantic and fantastical, "Emerald City" is an empowering tale of a young woman finding her true strength and identity even as she battles to bring a divided world together. Trevor Morris is widely known for his expertly crafted scores in period television, like the Vikings, and Of Kings and Prophets and he won two Emmys, for the title theme for The Borgias, and The Tudors.

Simon Kölle's Ave Mater
13-Mar-2017 - MovieScore Media has released the score for Ave Mater (Vilsen). By winning the Best Original Score at the Hollywood International Film Festival in 2016 and becoming the Best Original Score at London Independent Film Awards, Simon Kölle’s Ave Mater has already proven itself as one of the most engaging horror scores of the past season. With a story about the investigation of a mysterious cult whose activities create panic in the Swedish city of Gothenburg, Rasmus Tirzitis’ supernatural thriller has lent itself to a dark and powerful underscore that reflects on both the uneasy alliance between the investigator and a former reverend as well as the mystic rituals behind the murders. While scoring Ave Mater, Simon Kölle was inspired by both the occult and the church.

2-Mar-2017 - From Music on Vinyl comes a re-release of the score for HatariHenry Mancini produced the score for the Howard Hawks-directed, John Wayne-starring safari comedy Hatari! which included the well-known "Baby Elephant Walk". This is at first a fun blend of jazz and Afro-exotica, jungle drums mixed with a classic bop combo. Elsewhere, however, the soundtrack opts for some pleasant, but very Western jazz, only stopping for the African instrument-sampler "The Sounds of Hatari," which features some nice treated piano. The LP is 180 gram audiophile vinyl with a PVC protective sleeve. The first pressing is 500 individually numbered copies on yellow vinyl.
