Mumbai: Drivers and car owners associated cab-hailing services Ola and Uber have resorted to listing their cars for sale on Olx following a sharp drop in trip incentives by the companies.

According to a report in Moneycontrol, car owners from all over the country have put their cars up for sale on Olx. These cars with commercial licenses have been priced as low as Rs 50,000 to nearly Rs 8.5 lakh, subjected to condition, age of the car and running time.

“Gud condition recently changed clutch assembly EMI continue 22 months pending 12,350 per month,” says a listing by a Bangalore based cab owner on Olx.

This incident follows the slew of protests that Ola, Uber car owners and drivers have staged against the fast-dying incentives. These financially distressed drivers include owners of fleets of cars as well as individual car owners.

An Uber driver in Mumbai told Moneycontrol that: “The incentives were great in the beginning, but now if I make Rs 100, I have to give them (Uber) Rs 25, the maintenance, upkeep, servicing and fuel cost of the car is separate. We used to lease cars to two three drivers in the good days, but now it just doesn’t make sense for us so we are selling the cars”.

While, Ola did not formally respond to this situation, sources from the company attributed this to the “rationalisation” of incentives. Uber told Moneycontrol that the listings on OLX were a minuscule part of their fleet in India.
