A Star Fell Down on Indiana
Just like it did in the beginning of time
We all turned out to see what happened
Some of us laughed
Some of us cried
And together we held onto each other's hands
Until the last of us had died

The Sound Effects
From Timmy: "I came across one of the most detestable albums I have ever had to listen to. Horrific, blase, bland, halfhearted renditions of top-40 hits from 1973. All lamely done by a lousy band called the Sound Effects. Apparently, they recorded many albums, each focusing on different years, as advertised on the rear cover of this monstrosity, titled: 'Autumn '73.' " Thanks Timmy!

The Chicken Chronicles
Familiar tunes decorate this soundtrack to an obscure flick that featured none other than the fabulous Steve Guttenberg.

A Few Requests
Would anyone have rips of these they'd be willing to share? If so, please put you link in the comments. And for those of you who hit me up for re-ups, you might get what you want if you contribute. This should be a two-way street.

John Randolph Marr
Despite being produced by Harry Nilsson, arranged by George Tipton and released on Warner Bros., this charming period piece went nowhere. But now it can be yours.
John Davidson
Never thought I'd be into something like this. I mean, all I remember about this dude is that he was a slick game-show host with perfect hair and an Ultra Brite smile. But listening to it you sense that John was saying, "Take me seriously as an artist" in the same way that, say, Jack Jones did when he hooked up with David Gates on "Bread Winners." And it winds up being sort of cool, especially so because the Wrecking Crew is the backing band. At any rate, here's a fresh vinyl rip for you.

Quartet
An all-instro album based on "The Alexandria Quartet" tetralogy by Lawrence Durrell. Best heard in a single sitting with the lights off and the headphones cranked.
Michael Parks
With thanks to One Bite, here are a pair of records commemorating the passing of Michael Parks. Would anyone have "Lost and Found"?

Wishing Chair
These are daunting times
That much is certain
History in the making
From the man behind the curtain
No don't put the brakes on
Let us all run riot
When they hand you their deal
Just say you won't buy it
On average, this site attracts about 2,000 page views a day, and from that about as many downloads. If even half of the people who visit here daily spent, say, a dollar to download even one of my albums over on Bandcamp, that would support greatly both the music I make and the records I buy to post here. So next time you download from Mondo for FREE, please think about contributing.

Sing a Song With the Beatles
I bet that, back in the day, I would've bought this one thinking it was an actual Beatles album. I'm sure that's what the label, Tower, was thinking I'd think, too.
King's Road
By request, here's King's Road performing "live" at the Watkins Glen festival. The fake crowd sounds on this are pretty freakin' hilarious.
King's Road
Pickwick produced dozens of these soundalike records under the banner of King's Road (more are buried in this site). Classic exploito.

The Thomas Group
Here's an album so rare that it doesn't even exist. I comped it from the best sources I could find. Although this Dunhill band never went very far (not even far enough to make a full record), they did appear on Ed Sullivan, they had songwriting help from P.F. Sloan and Steve Barri, and members of the Wrecking Crew - Hal Blaine on drums, Joe Osborne on bass and Larry Knechtel on keyboards - provided backup. Despite all that, oblivion awaited.

Bobby Hatfield
Bobby Hatfield's sole solo record. Pretty righteous and extremely rare. Update: Apparently, not so rare anymore, as my rip of this record has ended up being re-posted all over the interwebs.
Wild in the Streets
This rounds out the "Wild in the Streets" trilogy. Remember: Never trust anyone over 30. Also, never trust anyone under 30.

Wild in the Streets
With thanks to Derrick Bostrom, here's the exceedingly rare instro version of the "Wild in the Streets" soundtrack, featuring the Arrows. Thanks Derrick!
Max Frost and the Troopers
With thanks to Timmy, here's an album by Max Frost and the Troopers, a fictional rock music group created for the exploitation film "Wild in the Streets." Musicians playing on this album are believed to include members of Davie Allan and the Arrows.

Lord Sitar
Big Jim Sullivan twangs away on his sitar on a batch of peculiar tracks (e.g. "If I Were a Rich Man"), releases it on a Capitol, and Beatlemanics scoop it up thinking it's George.

Endtroducing
You likely wouldn't know this, but yours truly is the author of the 33 1/3 book, "DJ Shadow's Endtroducing." You could give back and support this site by snagging yourself a copy. Just follow the link below or purchase one from your local bookseller (if such a place still exists in your 'hood).
