Henry Rollins, Author, spoken word raconteur & former frontman & lead singer of the seminal American Hardcore Punk band Black Flag and more recently The Rollins Band is LIVE in Australia at the moment & on tour around the Country. Henry has been to Australia MANY times at least thirty I believe but not 100% sure but Australia has always been a place Henry has enjoyed travelling to even as far back as his Black Flag days and Australians in my opinion would gladly adopt Henry at the drop of a hat he's so loved here. We tend to pigeonhole creative types: writer, musician, actor - they get a label. Stephen Sackur talks to a guest who defies simple description - punk is perhaps the only word that captures the spirit of Henry Rollins. He first found success in the punk band Black Flag back in the early eighties. Since then he's variously made a name as a non-conforming writer, broadcaster, actor and intrepid traveller. Shortly after He Never Died made its world premiere at SXSW in the midnight program, I got the opportunity to sit down with Krawczyk and Rollins to talk about what it took to bring Jack’s story to screen. Flog Auditorium, Firenze, Italy. Almost immediately after the legendary punk/hardcore band Black Flag called it quits in 1987, lead singer Henry Rollins issued his first solo releases, Hot Animal Machine and Drive By Shootings (the latter an EP credited to Henrieta Collins and the Wifebeating Childhaters), featuring longtime friend Chris Haskett on guitar, bassist Bernie Wandel, and drummer Mick Green. But Rollins missed being part of a true band, hence the formation of the Rollins Band. Similar in style to the Flag's latter direction (Sabbath-esque riff-heavy hardcore metal), the Rollins Band enlisted ex-Gone members Sim Cain (drums) and Andrew Weiss (bass), while Haskett remained onboard. The group quickly made a name for themselves with their explosive concerts and nonstop touring, as ...

The forever-punk Henry Rollins crams into the garage to talk with Marc about his confrontational style, why forgiveness isn’t his thing, how an act of violence shaped his life, why he worked with Charles Manson, and what kind of relationship he has with his microphones. WTF with Marc Maron - HENRY ROLLINS Interview
A Phi Production http://www.phi-centre.com/ Punk icon and lead singer for the ground-breaking Black Flag and Rollins Band, Henry Rollins is also a journalist, author, publisher, actor, and globe-trotter. This multi-disciplinary performer calls on his extensive experience and talents as a spoken word artist to deliver a sometimes biting critique of some of the most controversial aspects of American culture. A skilled wordsmith, Rollins pulls no punches in his efforts to raise public awareness to the issues that concern him. An outspoken straight talker, he promises to deliver a hard-hitting and enthralling talk. Talk moderated by Michael-Oliver Harding. http://bit.ly/1W6SuyA
4 1/2 Stars = A Minor Masterpiece I have three albums from the Rollins Band, they are, "The End of Silence, "Weight," & "Nice." "End of Silence," & "Weight," are good albums of fairly traditional heavy metal. I hear Sabbath & some Rush influence in both albums, more Rush in "Weight," but Henry Rollins lyrics & non-singing style is all his own. "Nice" is where (at least for me) Henry Rollins hits his stride, a combination of high octane Punk/Funk/Metal, this album just don't stop! Henry has a new backing band here (Mother Superior), & man they can play, just darting & dodging through funky rhythms & times changes like a shark after a swimmer, this album is filled with sharp teeth! The first song, "One Shot," sucks you in & spits you out with its tornadic sound of Punk/Funk/Metal, just a m...

In 1981 Henry Rollins found himself as the frontman to Californian punk band, Black Flag. Fast forward to 2016 and the Washington native has become so much more than a lead singer. We caught up with the songwriter, poet, actor, comedian, radio host, travel addict (to name just a few) while he was in Sydney to find out about his latest adventures.

Henry tells us about his work for the USO and recounts his migration from DC to LA. Later Rollins talks about getting labeled a "sell-out" after appearing in a few not-so-great flicks, and those silly mandates of "nonconformists". Ian talks with Henry about the self-immolation aspect of rock music, the life-changing experience of catching a Led Zeppelin show with Ian MacKaye, and his grievances with people who think music has stopped progressing. ** Come with Soft Focus as we retreat from the world and into the woods in search of some forgotten remedy f...

GREAT 'interview' with Henry Rollins. This was taped in 1995 by VARA/VPRO Dutch TV at the Pinkpop Festival in Landgraaf, The Netherlands. Just after Rollins Band finished their great set presenter Jan Douwke Kroeske desperatly does an attempt to talk to Henry Rollins. The man himself really just wants to relax.... Ripped from one of my old VHS tapes.
19.09.2016 Punk legend and spoken-word artist Henry Rollins stopped by the Triple R Performance Space for a live in-conversation event with Jonathan Alley from Under the Sun. I spend time, searching my mind, walking blindly
I'm a live but I don't know why my thoughts threat me
Paranoia, fear and guilt, I hope I don't explode
I'm a bomb that ya can't diffuse,
a gun that ya can't unload.
I don't listen, I don't know, man: I don't care!
You're talking 'bout all the hell you've seen...
Man: I live there!
Talk to me and it goes right through
I never heard a word you said.
Save your breath 'coz it's no use:
You're talking to the living dead!
Ooh.bullet driven eyes... yeah, what can you tell me?
Ooh.I'm living in a nightmare, yeah!
I'm on the edge, shrinking back from the ledge
Looking out my window, down upon my heritage
Strip malls, thin walls, people paralyzed beneath the sun
Why me, why now?
I see the dirty millions and I try to survive somehow...
Got no reasons, got no needs
I hear gunshots, I hear screams
What can you do to me, what can you say?
I used to be alive but I threw it all away
I used to have problems, I used to live a lie
I've seen the sidewalk bleed
And I watched the mother cry
I used to have a mind, I used to wonder why
But now I go from day to day and wait around to die...
