There’s a muscle-car war brewing in Detroit these days. Right as the handling-champion Z/28 goes out of production, Ford delivers a Shelby-badged suckerpunch with a flat-plane-crank V8, MR dampers, and carbon fiber wheels. Head 2 Head host Jason Cammisa takes the two through a series of challenges: first, some canyon carving to see which car is better on the road. Then, a dyno shootout: can the GT350R’s 5.2-liter Voodoo make more power than the venerable 7.0-liter LS7? And then, it’s onto Chuckwalla Valley Raceway where Jason and racecar driver Randy Pobst find out not only which one is faster around the track, but which car handles best. On this episode of Head 2 Head, Jonny Lieberman travels to Barber Motorsports Park for a head to head matchup with the brand new Chevy Camaro Z/28 and a well known heavyweight, the Nissan GT-R. But not just any GT-R, the 2014 Track Edition which packs a 545 hp twin-turbo V-6, a 6-speed dual clutch transmission, sticky Dunlop tires and AWD traction into a car without rear seats. The Z/28, by way of contrast, features a massive 7.0-liter naturally-aspirated V-8, a 6-speed manual transmission, and tail-out RWD. While it does still have rear seats, nearly every other non-essential component has been removed. Moreover, the Z28's tires might be even stickier! The front ones, enormous 305-sections, are certainly the widest tires ever bolted to a production car. Both cars are phenomenal, and both cars make rational men scream, "Gimme!" But only one can come out on top. Watch and find out!

The Z28 is the bad girl you don’t take home to your parents. It’s not really an appropriate car to show up to a business meeting. And like driving a rolls royce it’s like giving people the proverbial middle finger all the time. It quietly whispers, my car is so much more badass than yours is hilarious.
In case you aren’t familiar, the Z/28 is no ordinary Camaro. It sports carbon ceramic brakes, the LS7 from the previous gen Corvete Z06 and the widest front tires of any production car. The price? An almost crazy $76,755.
So why would you spend this much money on a Camaro. Especially considering air conditioning and audio is an optional $1200 package? Because it is a raw, track focused Boss 302 destroying beast.
Let’s talk stats. The Z28 lapped Laguna Seca faster than the 700Hp Ferrari f12. That’s essentially all you need to know, but in case you are still interested it also features a monsterous 7 liter v8. 505hp and 481lb ft of torque get sent to the rear 305 section tires. The fronts are 305s too...what?
0-60 takes 4 seconds. Instead of a fancy double clutch system we’ve got a good old fashioned tremec 6 speed manual transmission. And it is glorious. Shifts are silky smooth. There’s just something special about rear wheel drive, big power and a proper manual.
Grip, this car grips the road like a vice with its pireli trofeo r’s. Its breathtaking. You can throw this car into a turn with stupid velocity and end up alive on the otherside. I imagine in the rain though it’s scarier than the way the nissan juke looks.
The stopping power provided by the 14inch carbon ceramic brembos is astronomical. In fact you should argue to your wife that the reason you really need the Z28 and not the base v6 is because the ceramics are a necessary safety feature. And it’s true, in an emergency the brakes will slow you down faster than you need, and on the track, well i’m sure its magical.
During track developement the tires were providing so much grip and the brembos were braking so hard that the tires were actually spinning 360* around the rim. his forced Chevy to develope a solution called media blasting which more securely fused the tire and rim together. What an insane problem to have.
Most importantly the car is incredibly fun to drive. It’s raw and visceral and feels very connected to the road. You are engaged in the driving experience and that's what really matters with a car like this. The Z28 isn’t all hype, the lap times speak for themselves but that v8 shouts even louder. Drive me harder!!
The exhaust note is unmistakably corvette. Its mean, its american and it's loud. Sound is a huge part of the muscle car equation and this was a job well done by chevy. Listen to this baby roar.
The Z28 handles like a dream, the interior isn’t a piece of crap, it stops on a dime and it sounds like two bears fighting. It’s f*cking awesome!

Chevrolet Camaro
The Chevrolet Camaro is an automobile manufactured by Chevrolet, classified as a pony car and some versions also as a muscle car. It went on sale on September 29, 1966, for the 1967 model year and was designed as a competing model to the Ford Mustang. The car shared its platform and major components with the Pontiac Firebird, also introduced for 1967.
Four distinct generations of the Camaro were developed before production ended in 2002. The nameplate was revived on a concept car that evolved into the fifth-generation Camaro; production started on March 16, 2009.
Background
Before any official announcement, reports began running during April 1965 within the automotive press that Chevrolet was preparing a competitor to the Ford Mustang, code-named Panther. On June 21, 1966, around 200 automotive journalists received a telegram from General Motors stating, "...please save noon of June 28 for important SEPAW meeting. Hope you can be on hand to help scratch a cat. Details will follow...(signed) John L. Cutter – Chevrolet public relations – SEPAW secretary." The following day, the same journalists received another General Motors telegram stating, "Society for the Eradication of Panthers from the Automotive World will hold first and last meeting on June 28...(signed) John L. Cutter – Chevrolet public relations SEPAW secretary." These telegrams puzzled the automotive journalists.

Head 2 Head
Head 2 Head was a sports quiz show that aired on ABC TV in Australia between 18 February and 9 December 2006 and broadcast on Saturday evenings initially at 6 pm, then at 5 pm. The show was hosted by Ashley Bradnam and produced by Nick Price.
Quiz format
The show format was for two contestants to answers sports trivia questions over four "quarters".
In the first quarter, competitors would answer ten general questions, all of which were either multiple choice or "true or false". One point was awarded for a correct answer and there was no penalty for an incorrect answer.
In the second quarter, competitors would answer up to twenty questions on a specialty topic in a maximum period of two minutes. The topics would be chosen by the contestants several weeks prior to the show. As with the first quarter, one point was awarded for a correct answer and there was no penalty for an incorrect answer.
The third quarter lasts two minutes and is a more traditional quiz show "buzzer round", again with general sports questions. One point is awarded for a correct answer but one point is now lost for an incorrect answer.

Jay Leno
James Douglas Muir "Jay" Leno (/ˈlɛnoʊ/; born April 28, 1950) is an American comedian, actor, writer, producer, voice actor, and television host. He was the host of NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno from 1992 to 2009. Beginning in September 2009, Leno started a primetime talk show, titled The Jay Leno Show, which aired weeknights at 10:00 p.m. ET, also on NBC.
After The Jay Leno Show was canceled in January 2010 amid a host controversy, Leno returned to host The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on March 1, 2010. He hosted his last episode of The Tonight Show on February 6, 2014. That year, he was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame.
Early life
Leno was born in New Rochelle, New York. His homemaker mother, Catherine (née Muir; 1911–1993), was born in Greenock, Scotland, and came to the United States at age 11. His father, Angelo (1910–1994), was an insurance salesman who was born in New York, to immigrants from Flumeri, Italy. Leno grew up in Andover, Massachusetts, and obtained a bachelor's degree in speech therapy from Emerson College, where he started a comedy club in 1973. His older brother, Patrick (May 12, 1940 – October 6, 2002), was a Vietnam War veteran who worked as an attorney.

Jay Leno's Garage is an American web and television series about motor vehicles, primarily cars and motorbikes starring Jay Leno, the former host of The Tonight Show. Formerly a web series for NBC.com, Jay Leno's Garage morphed into a special that aired on CNBC in August 2014 and the show became a weekly prime time series on the channel in 2015.
Leno does car and motorcycle reviews on classic cars, super cars like the McLaren P1, restored cars, vintage and sports cars. Jay Leno's Big Dog Garage is located in Burbank, California, near Bob Hope Airport. In 2011 the show won a Primetime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Special Class — Short-Format Nonfiction Program".

It’s not really an appropriate car to show up to a business meeting. And like driving a rolls royce it’s like giving people the proverbial middle finger all the time. It quietly whispers, my car is so much more badass than yours is hilarious. In case you aren’t familiar, the Z/28 is no ordinary Camaro. It sports carbon ceramic brakes, the LS7 from the previous gen Corvete Z06 and the widest front tires of any production car. The price? An almost crazy $76,755. So why would you spend this much money on a Camaro. Especially considering air conditioning and audio is an optional $1200 package? Because it is a raw, track focused Boss 302 destroying beast. Let’s talk stats. The Z28 lapped Laguna Seca faster than the 700Hp Ferrari f12. That’s essentially all you need to know, but in case you are still interested it also features a monsterous 7 liter v8. 505hp and 481lb ft of torque get sent to the rear 305 section tires. The fronts are 305s too...what? 0-60 takes 4 seconds. Instead of a fancy double clutch system we’ve got a good old fashioned tremec 6 speed manual transmission. And it is glorious. Shifts are silky smooth. There’s just something special about rear wheel drive, big power and a proper manual. Grip, this car grips the road like a vice with its pireli trofeo r’s. Its breathtaking. You can throw this car into a turn with stupid velocity and end up alive on the otherside. I imagine in the rain though it’s scarier than the way the nissan juke looks. The stopping power provided by the 14inch carbon ceramic brembos is astronomical. In fact you should argue to your wife that the reason you really need the Z28 and not the base v6 is because the ceramics are a necessary safety feature. And it’s true, in an emergency the brakes will slow you down faster than you need, and on the track, well i’m sure its magical. During track developement the tires were providing so much grip and the brembos were braking so hard that the tires were actually spinning 360* around the rim. his forced Chevy to develope a solution called media blasting which more securely fused the tire and rim together. What an insane problem to have. Most importantly the car is incredibly fun to drive. It’s raw and visceral and feels very connected to the road. You are engaged in the driving experience and that's what really matters with a car like this. The Z28 isn’t all hype, the lap times speak for themselves but that v8 shouts even louder. Drive me harder!! The exhaust note is unmistakably corvette. Its mean, its american and it's loud. Sound is a huge part of the muscle car equation and this was a job well done by chevy. Listen to this baby roar. The Z28 handles like a dream, the interior isn’t a piece of crap, it stops on a dime and it sounds like two bears fighting. It’s f*cking awesome! On this episode of Head 2 Head, Jonny Lieberman travels to Barber Motorsports Park for a head to head matchup with the brand new Chevy Camaro Z/28 and a well known heavyweight, the Nissan GT-R. But not just any GT-R, the 2014 Track Edition which packs a 545 hp twin-turbo V-6, a 6-speed dual clutch transmission, sticky Dunlop tires and AWD traction into a car without rear seats. The Z/28, by way of contrast, features a massive 7.0-liter naturally-aspirated V-8, a 6-speed manual transmission, and tail-out RWD. While it does still have rear seats, nearly every other non-essential component has been removed. Moreover, the Z28's tires might be even stickier! The front ones, enormous 305-sections, are certainly the widest tires ever bolted to a production car. Both cars are phenomenal, and both cars make rational men scream, "Gimme!" But only one can come out on top. Watch and find out!

The Z28 is the bad girl you don’t take home to your parents. It’s not really an appropriate car to show up to a business meeting. And like driving a rolls royce it’s like giving people the proverbial middle finger all the time. It quietly whispers, my car is so much more badass than yours is hilarious.
In case you aren’t familiar, the Z/28 is no ordinary Camaro. It sports carbon ceramic brakes, the LS7 from the previous gen Corvete Z06 and the widest front tires of any production car. The price? An almost crazy $76,755.
So why would you spend this much money on a Camaro. Especially considering air conditioning and audio is an optional $1200 package? Because it is a raw, track focused Boss 302 destroying beast.
Let’s talk stats. The Z28 lapped Laguna Seca faster than the 700Hp Ferrari f12. That’s essentially all you need to know, but in case you are still interested it also features a monsterous 7 liter v8. 505hp and 481lb ft of torque get sent to the rear 305 section tires. The fronts are 305s too...what?
0-60 takes 4 seconds. Instead of a fancy double clutch system we’ve got a good old fashioned tremec 6 speed manual transmission. And it is glorious. Shifts are silky smooth. There’s just something special about rear wheel drive, big power and a proper manual.
Grip, this car grips the road like a vice with its pireli trofeo r’s. Its breathtaking. You can throw this car into a turn with stupid velocity and end up alive on the otherside. I imagine in the rain though it’s scarier than the way the nissan juke looks.
The stopping power provided by the 14inch carbon ceramic brembos is astronomical. In fact you should argue to your wife that the reason you really need the Z28 and not the base v6 is because the ceramics are a necessary safety feature. And it’s true, in an emergency the brakes will slow you down faster than you need, and on the track, well i’m sure its magical.
During track developement the tires were providing so much grip and the brembos were braking so hard that the tires were actually spinning 360* around the rim. his forced Chevy to develope a solution called media blasting which more securely fused the tire and rim together. What an insane problem to have.
Most importantly the car is incredibly fun to drive. It’s raw and visceral and feels very connected to the road. You are engaged in the driving experience and that's what really matters with a car like this. The Z28 isn’t all hype, the lap times speak for themselves but that v8 shouts even louder. Drive me harder!!
The exhaust note is unmistakably corvette. Its mean, its american and it's loud. Sound is a huge part of the muscle car equation and this was a job well done by chevy. Listen to this baby roar.
The Z28 handles like a dream, the interior isn’t a piece of crap, it stops on a dime and it sounds like two bears fighting. It’s f*cking awesome!
