- Greg Hywood, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director
Mr Hywood was appointed CEO and Managing Director in February 2011, having joined the Board the year prior.
He has enjoyed a long career in the media and government. A Walkley Award winning journalist, he has held a number of senior management positions at Fairfax including Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of each of The Australian Financial Review, The Sydney Morning Herald/ Sun Herald and The Age. He also held the position of Group Publisher Fairfax magazines. He was Executive Director Policy and Cabinet in the Victorian Premier's Department between 2004 and 2006, and from 2006 to 2010 was Chief Executive of Tourism Victoria.
- David Housego, Chief Financial Officer
Mr Housego was appointed as the Chief Financial Officer of Fairfax Media in December 2012 with responsibility for Finance, Group Strategy, management of the transformation program, Investor Relations and Workplace Services.
He also represents Fairfax Media on a number of joint venture Boards across the Digital Ventures portfolio and is a Director of Australian Associated Press.
He was previously an Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer at Worley Parsons (ASX: WOR) from 1999 through 2010.
- Allen Williams, Managing Director, Publishing Transition
In February 2017, Mr Williams took on responsibilities as Managing Director, Publishing Transition, also with continuing oversight of Australian Community Media and Printing & Distribution. Before this, he was Managing Director, Australian Publishing Media since April 2013. He has extensive media management experience in Australia and overseas. Prior to joining Fairfax Media New Zealand as CEO in 2009, he led a number of the company's operations across rural, regional and metropolitan markets in Australia and the United States. He returned to the company in 2007 following the Rural Press Limited merger with Fairfax Media.
Across his career he has worked at News Limited, Australian Consolidated Press and The Asher Joel Media Group. Allen currently represents Fairfax Media as a Director of Australian Associated Press.
- Andrew Boyle, Acting Managing Director, Fairfax New Zealand
Mr Boyle was appointed as the Acting Managing Director of Fairfax New Zealand in February 2017, following a four-year tenure as Chief Operating Officer in which he was responsible for the commercial performance of Fairfax Media's publishing titles - sales, marketing, operations, distribution, logistics and property.
Mr Boyle started his career in sales and marketing in the tourism industry, working in London, Taipei, Wellington and Singapore for Tourism NZ in the 1990s before joining Fairfax Media New Zealand in 1998. He has more than 17 years of service to the company in total, including roles as Marketing Manager for The Press, Group Marketing Manager, General Manager of Waikato and General Manager of the Southern Region.
- Antony Catalano, Chief Executive Officer, Domain
Mr Catalano was appointed CEO of the Domain Group in November 2013, and has overseen a period of rapid growth. He has had a long career at Fairfax and held a number of senior positions including Director of Real Estate at The Age and General Manager of MPG. In 2004, he was appointed Classified Director Real Estate, Motoring and General Classifieds, before being appointed Director Newspaper Sales and Marketing and Product Development for Fairfax in Victoria.
Mr Catalano established Metro Media Publishing (MMP) in 2009, Victoria's fastest-growing media business, and pioneered the highly-effective agent equity model - which has underpinned MMP's extraordinary success in digital and print publishing. This model is now being rolled out nationally by the Domain Group. He is a Director of MMP.
- Brad Hatch, Director of Communications
Mr Hatch is Fairfax Media's head of communications, with group-wide responsibility for managing the company's external and internal communications, spanning corporate affairs, media and public relations, investor and regulatory communications, brand, and community engagement.
Before taking up this role in February 2012, he was a journalist, holding senior writing and editing roles at The Australian Financial Review, DealBook and AFR BOSS magazine. Prior to this, Brad worked in legal and investment management roles.
Brad holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Sydney University.
He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Australian Science Media Centre (AusSMC).
- Chris Janz, Managing Director, Australian Metro Publishing
Mr Janz was appointed Managing Director of Australian Metro Publishing in February 2017 and was previously Director, Publishing Innovation. In his current role, Chris oversees The Australian Financial Review, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Brisbane Times, WAtoday and Fairfax's Life Media brands (Traveller, Good Food, Essential Baby, Essential Kids).
Mr Janz was previously the founding CEO of HuffPost Australia, a joint venture between The Huffington Post and Fairfax Media, and has more than 20 years' experience building market-leading digital media businesses. He was also the founding CEO of Allure Media, one of Australia's largest independent digital publishers, and responsible for launching Business Insider, Gizmodo, Kotaku, Lifehacker, POPSUGAR and ShopStyle in Australia.
Mr Janz's previous experience includes senior editorial roles at News Corp and production company Endemol Southern Star.
- Dhruv Gupta, Group Director, Strategy and Corporate Development
Mr Gupta joined Fairfax Media in 2013 and is responsible for strategic planning, M&A, and supporting key business initiatives across the group.
Prior to joining Fairfax, he was an investment banker in Macquarie's TMET team, working with clients across the media and entertainment spaces on M&A, capital raisings and restructures. His career also includes working Publishing and Broadcasting Limited's (PBL) strategy and enterprises team, and as a management consultant for The Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
Dhruv holds an MBA from Stanford University.
- Gail Hambly, Group General Counsel & Company Secretary
Ms Hambly is a commercial and media law specialist. She is a member of the Media and Communications Committee and the Privacy Committee for the Law Council of Australia, a member of the Advisory Board for the Centre of Media and Communications Law at the Melbourne Law School, a member of Chartered Secretaries Australia and of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She holds degrees in Law, Economics and Science.
She is Chair of CopyCo Pty Limited and a Director of Sydney Story Factory.
- Michelle Williams, Group Director, Human Resources
Ms Williams joined Fairfax Media in 2004 and is responsible for the Human Resources strategy and its implementation across the group including learning and development, safety and HR processes such as recruitment, performance and remuneration.
Ms Williams spent several years working in the financial services industry in human resources, relationship management and process improvement roles prior to joining Fairfax.
She holds degrees in Science and Commerce.
- Robyn Elliott, Chief Information Officer
Ms Elliott joined Fairfax Media as Chief Information Officer in March 2015 to lead the technology and digital product development across the group. She was previously CIO for the Foxtel subscription television company for more than twelve years, where she built the platforms for customer interaction, digital products and analytics.
Robyn's career includes extensive technology consulting experience across Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asia with IBM and Accenture. She holds an MBA and is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Strategy and Innovation program.
Ms Elliott has a wealth of experience on the front-line of digital disruption, leading innovation and customer-centric approaches to create value in a rapidly changing ecosystem.
- Ruth Marshall, General Manager, Digital Ventures
Ms Marshall joined Fairfax in 2012 and is currently responsible for managing the Digital Ventures portfolio of early and growth-stage internet-based businesses. She has previously worked in both business development and strategy roles with Fairfax.
Prior to joining Fairfax, Ms Marshall was a senior manager at L.E.K. Consulting, working with clients on strategy formulation, strategy implementation, and transaction support, across ANZ and North America.
Ruth holds a Bachelor of Business/ Bachelor of Laws.
- Sarah Pohlman, General Manager, Events
Ms Pohlman was appointed General Manager of Fairfax Events in March 2017 with leadership responsibility for the company's extensive events portfolio spanning running, swimming, food and wine, business, and the arts.
She joined Fairfax in 2014 and has held general management and business development roles in Fairfax's Life Media and Events businesses.
In 2010, Ms Pohlman launched her own freelance event consultancy managing several of Australia's largest music festivals, industry-leading events, and weddings. Prior to this, she held roles working on global projects at American Express and Coca-Cola for more than a decade.
