Remote (manga)

Remote (Japanese: リモート, Hepburn: Rimōto) is a manga series written by Tadashi Agi and illustrated by Tetsuya Koshiba, and published in Kodansha's Young Magazine from 2002 to 2004. The manga follows Kurumi Ayaki, the newest member of the Unsolved Crimes Division, Special Unit B.

Remote was adapted into a ten-episode Japanese television drama in October 2002. The North American version of the manga is published by Tokyopop.

Plot

Kurumi Ayaki has recently retired from her job as a police officer but she needs money for her upcoming wedding. While she wants to return to her old job in the Traffic Department, she is instead assigned to Unsolved Crimes Division, Special Unit A to solve crimes that are deemed "unsolvable" and partnered with the genius inspector Himuro.

Characters

Kurumi resigned from her job to marry her fiancé Shingo but, because of the recession and of the money he had to borrow to buy her wedding ring, she has to postpone her marriage plans and accept her new job with Kōzaburō Himuro. Kurumi may have developed feelings for Kozaburo Himuro. In the Live Drama Himuro seems to reveal more feelings about Kurumi than the Manga; Himuro asks her to work by his side for a while.

Remote and isolated community

A remote, isolated community is one that is either a long distance from highly populated settlements, or which lacks transportation links that are typical in more populated areas. The definition of what is "remote" or "isolated" varies substantially between regions of the world. Defining and identifying remote and isolated communities is often done by governments so that special considerations can be made to provide services to these difficult-to-reach places.

In responding to the avian flu outbreak of 2009, a Canadian government body (the Remote and Isolated Task Group [RITG] of the Public Health Network H1N1 Task Force) published the following working definitions:

Isolated, by the Canadian government definition, means a geographical area that has scheduled flights and good telephone services, but is without year-round road access. Note that not all homes in a community have phones, and that flights may be cancelled or delayed due to weather.

Michéal Castaldo (born September 25, 1962) is an Italian-born classical crossover tenor,music producer and composer.

Early life and musical career

Castaldo started his voice studies with maestro Pisapia, a protégé of the Italian operatic tenor Enrico Caruso. Castaldo graduated from Oakwood Collegiate Institute in Toronto and Berklee College of Music in Boston (1986).

In 1989, Castaldo was named an Abe Olman Scholarship Award recipient by the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Castaldo wrote and produced "Goin' Krazy" which was released by José Feliciano 1994, which entered the Billboard dance chart.

Castaldo has recorded six solo studio albums. His third album Aceto was released in 2010. The album includes 14 classic and 2 original Italian songs. He recorded an Italian version of "Hallelujah" on the album. A video of the song was filmed in Toronto, Canada, in December 2010 by filmmaker Greg Riccio Jr. supporting the Free Hugs Campaign to promote random acts of kindness.

Rouge (TV series)

Rouge was an English-language Action/Adventure television series from Singapore that ran on both Channel 5 and throughout Southeast Asia on MTV Asia in 2004 (both companies also co-produced the program). The show also ran in Australia (on MTV Australia) and the United States (on AZN Television).

The 13-part series follows a Southeast Asian all-girl rock band who are also high-tech special operatives working for a global crime-fighting organization (aptly titled "The Organization"), as they take on a counter-espionage network known as "The Brotherhood."

Single (football)

In Canadian football, a single (single point, or rouge), scoring one point, is awarded when the ball is kicked into the end zone by any legal means, other than a successful field goal, and the receiving team does not return, or kick, the ball out of its end zone. It is also a single if the kick travels through the end zone or goes out of bounds in the end zone without being touched, except on a kickoff. After conceding a single, the receiving team is awarded possession of the ball at the 35-yard line of its own end of the field.

In the United States, singles are not usually recognized in most leagues and are awarded only in matches played under the auspices of the National Indoor Football League (formerly United Indoor Football) and the now-defunct American Indoor Football Association. It is applied only on kickoffs in both leagues, and is scored if the receiving team fails to advance the ball out of the end zone when kicked. The NIFL also allowed a single to be scored by kicking a kickoff through the uprights (as in a field goal); this type of single is nicknamed (and has since been codified in the NIFL rules as) an uno, from the Spanish word for the number one. At one point, the Philadelphia Public League (the public high school football sanctioning body in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) awarded three points for kicking a kickoff through the uprights.
