The quiz covers almost every one of Australia's 15,000-plus suburbs. The only ones not included are those with tiny populations.

HINTS

  • Oceania includes Australia, Papua New Guinea New Zealand and Pacific Islands such as Fiji, Vanuatu and Tonga.
  • The Americas includes North and South America.
  • Family households include any home that consists of a couple or some dependent children. For example, a family household can be a married couple without kids, a same-sex couple living together, a single parent looking after their two children, or a blended household with step parents and stepchildren.
  • Christianity takes in all denominations such as Catholicism, Protestantism and Seventh Day Adventism.
  • No Religion includes Agnosticism, Atheism and secular beliefs such as Rationalism and Humanism.

ABOUT THE DATA

The data used in this quiz comes from the 2016 Census.

That means the answers could be skewed by the fact that not everyone filled out the census. While the response rate nationwide was about 96 per cent, in some areas a lower proportion of residents may have sat down and filled out the form.

There were also some people who left fields blank. Some people were happy to state things like their age and what type of home they lived in, but did not want the Bureau of Statistics to know how much they earned or their religion.

So if you got a question wrong about household income, mortgage repayments or weekly rent, that might be why.
