As Deutsche Bank struggles to pull off a global turnaround, the Australian operations are working to plug holes after two key departures this week.

Street Talk understands Deutsche's small cap specialist, Chad Mikhael, has been poached by UBS after four years in the German bank's research sales division.

Mikhael, who is well regarded among institutional investors, will take on a similar role at UBS in Sydney, reporting to George Kanaan and Clinton Wong.

In addition, Deutsche's financials analyst, Andrew Triggs, has this week jumped ship to rival JPMorgan.

Triggs will be replaced by Anthony Hoo, who joined Deutsche two years ago.

Sources said Deutsche Bank has made 12 new staff hires in the past fortnight in its corporate and investment banking division.
