That makes me curious: can the BB refuse service to someone mid-trip? Like, this shit starts can they just stop and demand the passengers get off?

Really don't think they're thinking that hard about it. I mean, I guess he could run to Toad the Wet Sprocket or the Fine Young Cannibals or something...

Everything about that live video is how I imagine the 70s, as someone in their early 30s. I think I mean that in a good way?

Eh, I will never shame directors who refuse to change their vision. Maybe it was never going to work, but I'd rather they be gone than make something they didn't want to.

You know what would stop us talking about the Han Solo movie? Announcing the Obi-wan anthology film. by Arvel_Crynyd in StarWars

In theory, I agree. My problem with an Obi-Wan movie is... what's the story? He's on Tatooine for 19 years... Now, personally, I'd be all over a western where he's just helping some small village with a problem. That sounds great and Ewan would crush it. But, do we actually expect LucasFilm to make a (relatively) small Star Wars movie with the name Obi-Wan attached? I just really doubt it.

The last thing I'd want is another fucking epic with dogfights, lightsaber duels, over-the-top baddies. It would in no way fit in with what Obi-Wan's life should be for those 19 years, but I don't have confidence in LFL anymore to do something different.

All that said, I will GLADLY eat crow if they don't go that direction. Like, if James Mangold is allowed to make an Obi-Wan movie and KK lets him do his thing, fuck yeah, I'm all about it.

Something about that whole situation just seems really off. He apparently chose them, they did exactly what all of us expected them to do, and then he wasn't happy they were messing with his script?

I don't get it. If it was known Kasdan would want his script to remain as written, why not make that part of the agreement with the directors to begin with?

I completely agree and it's unfortunate you're getting downvoted. If this Solo debacle has shown anything, it's that trying to mess with classic characters is just going to lead to massive disagreements. Just start making completely new films set in the SW universe! Then I bet we could have a Lord & Miller full-on comedy and we wouldn't have the powers-that-be losing their minds over a change in tone.

I know Kasdan is SW Royalty and all, but writers have no place in the studio (unless they are also directing, of course). They wrote the script and it was approved, now it's the directors' turn. If they WANT to work together, sure, but it is completely absurd to have the writer step in and try to tell the directors how to proceed.

This is exactly how I was thinking about it. I have read/heard interviews with actors on improv-heavy shows/movies where they say they still obviously do takes with the scripted material and that generally is what winds up in the final product; but the idea behind the improv is to see where the actors' heads are and see if they might have a different take on the scene given their personal relationship to the character they are portraying.

I really think there must be a TON of amazing stuff that will now never surface. It may not have been the Star Wars that KK wanted, but I am of the belief that that isn't such a bad thing.

I guess you're referring to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes? Consider it is even better than Rise and likely sets up this one much more than Rise did, yeah, I'd recommend it.
