Single track or singletrack is a narrow mountain biking trail that is approximately the width of the bike. It contrasts with double track or fire road which is wide enough for four-wheeled off-road vehicles. In addition it is frequently smooth and flowing, but it may also exhibit technical rocky sections and may be criss-crossed with tree roots. Some trails are winding and flowing, while others are bumpy and challenging. Many trails offer features such as roots, logs and rocks. Single track paths can be ridden using a mountain bike, BMX bike or race bike. Single track riding can be quite challenging from a technical standpoint. Singletracks cover vast areas of both state and national park lands.
There are volunteers, both organized and rogue, that maintain and create single track trails throughout the country. The organized volunteers coordinate with park districts to modify the natural woods to accommodate single track bikers. Some paths are created from scratch, while others are modified hiking paths.
Single track may refer to:
Red Bull is an energy drink sold by Austrian company Red Bull GmbH, created in 1987. In terms of market share, Red Bull is the highest-selling energy drink in the world, with 5.387 billion cans sold in 2013.
Austrian entrepreneur Dietrich Mateschitz was inspired by an existing energy drink named Krating Daeng, which was first invented and sold in Thailand. He took this idea, modified the ingredients to suit the tastes of Westerners, and, in partnership with Chaleo Yoovidhya, founded Red Bull GmbH in 1987 in Chakkapong, Thailand. In Thai, daeng means red, and krating is the large bovine called "gaur". Red Bull is sold in a tall and slim blue-silver can, while Krating Daeng is in a gold shorter can. The two are different products, produced separately.
The Red Bull company slogan is "Red Bull gives you wings", and the product is marketed through advertising, events (Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, Red Bull Air Race, Red Bull Crashed Ice), sports team ownerships (RB Leipzig, FC Red Bull Salzburg, Red Bull Brasil, New York Red Bulls, Red Bull Racing, Scuderia Toro Rosso), celebrity endorsements, and music, through its record label Red Bull Records.
A mountain bike or mountain bicycle (abbreviated MTB; or ATB, for all-terrain bicycle) is a bicycle created for off-road cycling.
Mountain bikes are typically ridden on mountain trails, fire roads, logging roads, single tracks and other unpaved environments. These types of terrain commonly include rocks, washouts, ruts, loose sand, loose gravel, roots, and steep grades (both inclines and declines). Mountain bikes are built to handle this terrain and the obstacles that are found in it like logs, vertical drop offs, and smaller boulders.
Mountain bike construction differs from a typical bicycle in many ways. The most noticeable differences are the inclusion of suspension on the frame and fork, larger knobby tires, more durable heavy duty wheels, more powerful brakes, and lower gear ratios needed for steep grades with poor traction.
Since the development of the sport in the 1970s many new subtypes of mountain biking have developed, such as cross-country (XC) biking, all-day endurance biking, Freeride-biking, downhill mountain biking, and a variety of track and slalom competitions. Each of these place different demands on the bike requiring different designs for optimal performance. MTB development has included an increase in suspension, typically up to 8" or 203mm, and gearing, up to 30 speeds, to facilitate both climbing and rapid descents. However, advancements in sprocket design has recently led to the "1x (pronounced one by)" trend, simplifying the gearing to one Chainring/Sprocket in the front and multiple sprockets on the rear of the drive train, more commonly, 9, 10 or 11 speed.
Daniel Simon Atherton, known as Dan Atherton (born 25 January 1982, near Salisbury), is a professional racing cyclist specialising in downhill, four cross and enduro-downhill mountain bike racing, and is a former national champion of Great Britain. He began riding BMX at the age of 15 and mountain biking a year later.
From 2007 till 2011, Atherton was one third of the Animal Commençal racing team, alongside brother Gee Atherton and sister Rachel Atherton.
He is now part of the GT Factory Racing team with brother Gee, sister Rachel and old friend Marc Beaumont, and is primarily racing Enduro-downhill and occasional downhill races.
Dan Atherton, along with Rachel and Gee, was the star of the web series The Atherton Project, which followed their day-to-day lives.
In 2010 Atherton broke a vertebra in his neck whilst dirt jumping and has missed half of the season including the World Championships.
After the 2012 season's end, Atherton won the Asia Pacific Downhill Challenge in Indonesia.

This video will explain the difference between a cross country mountain bike and a trail bike. This is a common question raised by those purchasing a new mountain bike, especially those new to the sport.
On Saturday 16th October 2010 a crew from Australian Mountain Bike Magazine flew to Rotorua, New Zealand. Their mission - to ride the trails, experience whats on offer in the city and surrounding areas - Taupo and the Hawkes Bay. They also were to compete in the Whaka 100 and the 2010 World SingleSpeed Champs! But most importantly, have a laugh.
