On this website is the complete text of Running for Fitness, an updated edition of my book first published in 2002 in the UK and the US.
If you are one of the millions of people who enjoy running but who don’t want to become a professional athlete, this book is for you. Running for Fitness recognises that we run for many reasons: to lose weight, to control stress, or just to get a bit of exercise in a busy week. If you want to get the most out of your running – whether to stay healthy, improve your race times or lose a little flab, this book is for you. Running for Fitness combines the fun and pleasure of amateur running with the science of professionals.
As well as the full text of the book, you this website also includes a series of tools to simplify the various calculations described in the book. If you want to work out how many calories you should be eating each day, or how fast you might run a half marathon based on your time in a 10km, the tools are all here.
You can read the book online here for nothing. Alternatively you can buy an electronic copy for your Kindle, your iPad, or your computer.
I’ve put this book online because I want everyone to enjoy running as much as I do. But I also hope that you’ll use this online resource to share your own experiences with others. Please write in the comments boxes.
Happy running.
Owen
