Red Dragon is a 2002 American psychological horror film based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Harris, featuring psychiatrist and serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter. It is a prequel to The Silence of the Lambs (1991) and Hannibal (2001). The novel was originally adapted into the film Manhunter (1986).

The image of this area was blocked by Google Sky as you can see in the video. Once this area was revealed on Sky View, It shows a pretty wild image. But the question remains, why would they want to block this out on Google Sky? What is even more interesting it that it appears between the legs as the Virgin as Jupiter is set to pass through the womb area in September of 2017.

The Red Dragon sensor has 3 F STOPS more than before. 1 in the hight lights which rolls over wonderfully !, 2 solid extra stops in the darks…. maybe 3 once the colour science has been perfected.
But there is still noise, but nothing like before. I ran some 250d 2k film rushes next some of my 4000asa stuff, And silly as it sounds, it looks like film grain, not noise. Don't ask me how, as I wouldn't have a clue. But it looks great !
Red Dragon now has the best highlight fall off I have ever seen from any digital camera. Beating film! Big call I know, but after shooting film and pushing it around in telecine chains for more than a decade, I can categorically say that this new sensor has a better range than film ever had.
Single still frames compared to a top of the line professional 35mm Digital stills cameras, I'm going to say that the EPIC matches, if not betters most. Don't ask me how they do it, but every single frame from the DRAGON is 109meg !! @16bit when saved as a tiff from RCX. and at 100 Frames per second, I tell you this… someone has sold there soul to the devil.
If you are a pro photographer, you are mad if you don't have this camera in your tool box. You quite literally will never miss a single shot.
Is Dragon better than 65mm Film…. (with good lenses) YES. No shit…
The images out of the Dragon are so smooth now… so so smooth, like low asa large format film.
The Dragon is more stable than my current MX EPIC's.
The SONY F65 I rate as having the best sensor in the market for a production cine camera. Yes.. it's better than the EPIC- MX. (I'm not going to harp on about the size of it or the price comparisons).
Even Jim knows that Sony have done very well with the F65 sensor and that was obviously pissing him off, because his new Dragon sensor has just given the the F65 notice.
All the F65 SONY purists out there will dispute this. But I have Sony files here with me, and I'm looking at both side by side… and Dragons grain (noise) structure is cleaner and it has more range.
Dragon is now the King. (AND… I'm not going to harp on about the size of it or the price comparisons). or did I ..ha !
The single one sentence i can say that can sum up everything is this..
It's the first camera ever that I have used that captures exactly what I see with my own eye.
Never have I seen this before. !

Our Red Dragon came in Friday night, we quickly prepped the CineStar for the new camera and headed out for a first flight. The fact that you can have this kind of dynamic range and resolution flying on a 20lb multi-rotor is mind blowing!

Dragon
A dragon is a legendary creature, typically with serpentine or reptilian traits, that features in the myths of many cultures. There are two distinct cultural traditions of dragons: the European dragon, derived from European folk traditions and ultimately related to Greek and Middle Eastern mythologies, and the Chinese dragon, with counterparts in Japan (namely the Japanese dragon), Korea and other East Asian countries.

Red Digital Cinema Camera Company
The Red Digital Cinema Camera Company is an American company that manufactures professional-grade digital cinematography and photography tools. Red cameras support raw recording of stills and video, in the case of the RED Epic-M up to 6K resolution.
The company’s headquarters are in Irvine, California, with studios in Hollywood. It has offices in London, Berlin, and Mumbai—and various authorized resellers and service centers around the world. Red also has retail stores in Hollywood and New York.
History
Red Digital Cinema was founded in 2005 by Jim Jannard, who had previously founded Oakley. The company started with a small group of entrepreneurs in a warehouse who wanted to build affordable, high-end digital video cameras and believed that 4K video was the future of digital image capture.
At the 2006 NAB show, Jannard announced that Red would build a 4K digital cinema camera and began taking pre-orders. More than one thousand people put down a refundable deposit, and Red began work to fulfill the orders.

Google Sky
Google Sky is a feature for Google Earth and an online sky/outer space viewer. It was created on August 27, 2007. The application allows users to view a collaboration of images from NASA satellites, the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, and the Hubble Telescope.
It is available on Android and can be used on a smartphone as an augmented reality application.
Google Earth version
The first Google Sky version to be created was on the virtual globe program called Google Earth. It features a number of layers, similar to the earth mode. It is mapped with images on the inside of the Google Earth sphere, with the north and south poles lining up with the two poles in Google Sky. As with other planetarium programs, it is viewed from the inside looking out from the center. It is facing competition from Microsoft's WorldWide Telescope.

The Red Dragon
The Red Dragon is a 1946 mystery film starring Sidney Toler as Charlie Chan, who has to sift through a host of suspects for three murders.
This marks the first appearance of Willie Best as Chattanooga Brown, Birmingham Brown's cousin. Compared with Mantan Moreland's appearances as Birmingham Brown, Best's portrayal of Chattanooga was broader and played more upon racial stereotypes. The character was dropped after two appearances.

The Freefly team took RED's new 6K Dragon camera airborne during a rare Pacific Northwest snowstorm. The goal was to continue our testing of the Dragon camera and better familiarize the team with the capabilities of the new 6K camera system. The results of the test were pretty compelling! The incredible resolution and dynamic range of the Dragon coupled with the dynamic camera moves created by the CineStar Multi Rotor produced some visually stunning sequences. The Red Dragon sensor has 3 F STOPS more than before. 1 in the hight lights which rolls over wonderfully !, 2 solid extra stops in the darks…. maybe 3 once the colour science has been perfected. But there is still noise, but nothing like before. I ran some 250d 2k film rushes next some of my 4000asa stuff, And silly as it sounds, it looks like film grain, not noise. Don't ask me how, as I wouldn't have a clue. But it looks great ! Red Dragon now has the best highlight fall off I have ever seen from any digital camera. Beating film! Big call I know, but after shooting film and pushing it around in telecine chains for more than a decade, I can categorically say that this new sensor has a better range than film ever had. This is the final color grade and cinema level finish on my little short shot on Red's new Epic Dragon camera. We screened it in 4K in Hollywood earlier today and it looked fantastic on the big screen. I'd like to share that version here, although not the 4K one. But the question remains, why would they want to block this out on Google Sky? What is even more interesting it that it appears between the legs as the Virgin as Jupiter is set to pass through the womb area in September of 2017.

The Red Dragon sensor has 3 F STOPS more than before. 1 in the hight lights which rolls over wonderfully !, 2 solid extra stops in the darks…. maybe 3 once the colour science has been perfected.
But there is still noise, but nothing like before. I ran some 250d 2k film rushes next some of my 4000asa stuff, And silly as it sounds, it looks like film grain, not noise. Don't ask me how, as I wouldn't have a clue. But it looks great !
Red Dragon now has the best highlight fall off I have ever seen from any digital camera. Beating film! Big call I know, but after shooting film and pushing it around in telecine chains for more than a decade, I can categorically say that this new sensor has a better range than film ever had.
Single still frames compared to a top of the line professional 35mm Digital stills cameras, I'm going to say that the EPIC matches, if not betters most. Don't ask me how they do it, but every single frame from the DRAGON is 109meg !! @16bit when saved as a tiff from RCX. and at 100 Frames per second, I tell you this… someone has sold there soul to the devil.
If you are a pro photographer, you are mad if you don't have this camera in your tool box. You quite literally will never miss a single shot.
Is Dragon better than 65mm Film…. (with good lenses) YES. No shit…
The images out of the Dragon are so smooth now… so so smooth, like low asa large format film.
The Dragon is more stable than my current MX EPIC's.
The SONY F65 I rate as having the best sensor in the market for a production cine camera. Yes.. it's better than the EPIC- MX. (I'm not going to harp on about the size of it or the price comparisons).
Even Jim knows that Sony have done very well with the F65 sensor and that was obviously pissing him off, because his new Dragon sensor has just given the the F65 notice.
All the F65 SONY purists out there will dispute this. But I have Sony files here with me, and I'm looking at both side by side… and Dragons grain (noise) structure is cleaner and it has more range.
Dragon is now the King. (AND… I'm not going to harp on about the size of it or the price comparisons). or did I ..ha !
The single one sentence i can say that can sum up everything is this..
It's the first camera ever that I have used that captures exactly what I see with my own eye.

The goal was to continue our testing of the Dragon camera and better familiarize the team with the capabilities of the new 6K camera system. The results of the test were pretty compelling! The incredible resolution and dynamic range of the Dragon coupled with the dynamic camera moves created by the CineStar Multi Rotor produced some visually stunning sequences.

Zack came to us with the idea of telling a story through dance :
A love story that is tangled in addiction. We see the consequences of a lover who is struggling with her partners disease and the person he once was, only to succumb to his demons and dive head first into his addiction.
The choreography was created and rehearsed over a period of several days with Tamara, who is known also as the French singer Shy'm rather than a dancer. It was shot in an abandoned warehouse in Paris, formerly used for creating glassware and silverware.
All natural lighting, thanks to the clouds and dirty windows :)

So when we found out we we're getting an Epic Dragon to shoot we had very little time to prep. Based on it showing up on a Saturday at noon and immovable plans already in place it meant we were going to effectively have about 6hrs to shoot whatever we could before the Dragon flew home Monday leaving us scorched in its wake.
We flatly dropped the idea of doing anything Narrative yet also were not interested in a camera "test". We also decided to shoot Anamorphic because we love the format and had not seen any public Dragon Ana footage yet. So we decided to put ourselves in scenarios that forced us to use available light and the best possible locations. Luckily our good friend Lucas Wilson from Assimilate let us use his swanky hotel room. We also decided we would steal as many shots as we could in the Dream Hotel lobby in NYC until we got yelled at or arrested because quite frankly, it's a stunning lobby and was well worth the risk.
So back to the camera, this new sensor is a beast in all senses of the word and when Jarred from RED said they might win an award for the most aptly named piece of kit he wasn't lying. We were also using the current color science not the new Dragon specific science that's still being boiled and cooked in some Willy Wonka lab so who knows what everlasting gobstoppers we'll get with the new builds.
The Dragon is handily 2 stops over the previous Epic MX sensor which in its own right is a stellar sensor. We found ourselves able to expose and ISO where we would not have been able to before without being in the outer limits. I say handily 2 stops over because it's actually more than that but subjectivity and personal sensitivity to noise floor is for everyone to decide on their own above that. I think one of the bigger eye openers is the slow motion. Higher fps performance at seemingly ludicrous compression ratios. We shot 6K 2:1 Anamorphic 2x at 80fps 17:1. That's right 17 to bloody 1. You can see in the piece that the compression looks nowhere near that. Also, one of the biggest leaps of all is being able to shoot lower ISO's without highlight penalties or pinky purple weirdness invading your upper registers.

This is the final color grade and cinema level finish on my little short shot on Red's new Epic Dragon camera. We screened it in 4K in Hollywood earlier today and it looked fantastic on the big screen. I'd like to share that version here, although not the 4K one.

RED EPIC DRAGON - IT'S THE REAL DEAL !
The Red Dragon sensor has 3 F STOPS more than before. 1 in the hight lights which rolls over wonderfully !, 2 solid extra stops in the darks…. maybe 3 once the colour science has been perfected. But there is still noise, but nothing like before. I ran some 250d 2k film rushes next some of my 4000asa stuff, And silly as it sounds, it looks like film grain, not noise. Don't ask me how, as I wouldn't have a clue. But it looks great ! Red Dragon now has the best highlight fall off I have ever seen from any digital camera. Beating film! Big call I know, but after shooting film and pushing it around in telecine chains for more than a decade, I can categorically say that this new sensor has a better range than film ever had. Snow Dragon
The Freefly team took RED's new 6K Dragon camera airborne during a rare Pacific Northwest snowstorm. The goal was to continue our testing of the Dragon camera and better familiarize the team with the capabilities of the new 6K camera system. The results of the test were pretty compelling! www.carlosetmarcus.com Zack came to us with the idea of telling a story through dance : A love story that is tangled in addiction. We see the consequences of a lover who is struggling with her partners disease and the person he once was, only to succumb to his demons and dive head first into his addiction. It's Just Paint - shot on Red Epic Dragon - Final Color and Finish
This is the final color grade and cinema level finish on my little short shot on Red's new Epic Dragon camera. We screened it in 4K in Hollywood earlier today and it looked fantastic on the big screen. I'd like to share that version here, although not the 4K one. GSS integrated my Carbon Dragon #13 into a GSS C520 gimbal the day it was delivered to me, as you can see here in this montage, the camera and gimbal combination is simply phenomenal!!! Flying the Freefly ALTA first person view with the Red Dragon and Canon 16-35mm lens. Used the MoVI controller in MIMIC mode for the beginning shots and regular dual operator mode for the rest. Focus and zoom were hooked up with the Freefly Wedge and Heden Motors.

The Red Dragon sensor has 3 F STOPS more than before. 1 in the hight lights which rolls over wonderfully !, 2 solid extra stops in the darks…. maybe 3 once the colour science has been perfected.
But there is still noise, but nothing like before. I ran some 250d 2k film rushes next some of my 4000asa stuff, And silly as it sounds, it looks like film grain, not noise. Don't ask me how, as I wouldn't have a clue. But it looks great !
Red Dragon now has the best highlight fall off I have ever seen from any digital camera. Beating film! Big call I know, but after shooting film and pushing it around in telecine chains for more than a decade, I can categorically say that this new sensor has a better range than film ever had.
Single still frames compared to a top of the line professional 35mm Digital stills cameras, I'm going to say that the EPIC matches, if not betters most. Don't ask me how they do it, but every single frame from the DRAGON is 109meg !! @16bit when saved as a tiff from RCX. and at 100 Frames per second, I tell you this… someone has sold there soul to the devil.
If you are a pro photographer, you are mad if you don't have this camera in your tool box. You quite literally will never miss a single shot.
Is Dragon better than 65mm Film…. (with good lenses) YES. No shit…
The images out of the Dragon are so smooth now… so so smooth, like low asa large format film.
The Dragon is more stable than my current MX EPIC's.
The SONY F65 I rate as having the best sensor in the market for a production cine camera. Yes.. it's better than the EPIC- MX. (I'm not going to harp on about the size of it or the price comparisons).
Even Jim knows that Sony have done very well with the F65 sensor and that was obviously pissing him off, because his new Dragon sensor has just given the the F65 notice.
All the F65 SONY purists out there will dispute this. But I have Sony files here with me, and I'm looking at both side by side… and Dragons grain (noise) structure is cleaner and it has more range.
Dragon is now the King. (AND… I'm not going to harp on about the size of it or the price comparisons). or did I ..ha !
The single one sentence i can say that can sum up everything is this..
It's the first camera ever that I have used that captures exactly what I see with my own eye.

The goal was to continue our testing of the Dragon camera and better familiarize the team with the capabilities of the new 6K camera system. The results of the test were pretty compelling! The incredible resolution and dynamic range of the Dragon coupled with the dynamic camera moves created by the CineStar Multi Rotor produced some visually stunning sequences.

The Freefly team took RED's new 6K Dragon camera airborne during a rare Pacific Northwest snowstorm. The goal was to continue our testing of the Dragon camera and better familiarize the team with the capabilities of the new 6K camera system. The results of the test were pretty compelling! The incredible resolution and dynamic range of the Dragon coupled with the dynamic camera moves created by the CineStar Multi Rotor produced some visually stunning sequences.

Zack came to us with the idea of telling a story through dance :
A love story that is tangled in addiction. We see the consequences of a lover who is struggling with her partners disease and the person he once was, only to succumb to his demons and dive head first into his addiction.
The choreography was created and rehearsed over a period of several days with Tamara, who is known also as the French singer Shy'm rather than a dancer. It was shot in an abandoned warehouse in Paris, formerly used for creating glassware and silverware.
All natural lighting, thanks to the clouds and dirty windows :)

So when we found out we we're getting an Epic Dragon to shoot we had very little time to prep. Based on it showing up on a Saturday at noon and immovable plans already in place it meant we were going to effectively have about 6hrs to shoot whatever we could before the Dragon flew home Monday leaving us scorched in its wake.
We flatly dropped the idea of doing anything Narrative yet also were not interested in a camera "test". We also decided to shoot Anamorphic because we love the format and had not seen any public Dragon Ana footage yet. So we decided to put ourselves in scenarios that forced us to use available light and the best possible locations. Luckily our good friend Lucas Wilson from Assimilate let us use his swanky hotel room. We also decided we would steal as many shots as we could in the Dream Hotel lobby in NYC until we got yelled at or arrested because quite frankly, it's a stunning lobby and was well worth the risk.
So back to the camera, this new sensor is a beast in all senses of the word and when Jarred from RED said they might win an award for the most aptly named piece of kit he wasn't lying. We were also using the current color science not the new Dragon specific science that's still being boiled and cooked in some Willy Wonka lab so who knows what everlasting gobstoppers we'll get with the new builds.
The Dragon is handily 2 stops over the previous Epic MX sensor which in its own right is a stellar sensor. We found ourselves able to expose and ISO where we would not have been able to before without being in the outer limits. I say handily 2 stops over because it's actually more than that but subjectivity and personal sensitivity to noise floor is for everyone to decide on their own above that. I think one of the bigger eye openers is the slow motion. Higher fps performance at seemingly ludicrous compression ratios. We shot 6K 2:1 Anamorphic 2x at 80fps 17:1. That's right 17 to bloody 1. You can see in the piece that the compression looks nowhere near that. Also, one of the biggest leaps of all is being able to shoot lower ISO's without highlight penalties or pinky purple weirdness invading your upper registers.

This is the final color grade and cinema level finish on my little short shot on Red's new Epic Dragon camera. We screened it in 4K in Hollywood earlier today and it looked fantastic on the big screen. I'd like to share that version here, although not the 4K one.
