Ifugao is a landlocked province of the Philippines in the Cordillera Administrative Region in Luzon. Its capital is Lagawe and it borders Benguet to the west, Mountain Province to the north, Isabela to the east, and Nueva Vizcaya to the south.
The Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras and Banaue Rice Terraces are the main tourist attractions in the province. These terraces were handcarved into the mountains 2,000 years ago to plant rice. In 1995, they were declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Ifugao is named after the term i-pugo ("i" [from/people] and pugo [hill]), which translates to people of the hill.
Prior to colonization, Ifugao was a massive highland plutocracy, among the most sophisticated and prosperous of its kind in the whole archipelago and one of the two grandest highland plutocracies in Luzon, the other being the Plutocracy of Kalinga. The state existed for over 2,000 years and have built massive rice terraces that would be a symbol of the province in later time. There were no monarchs in the state. The state was ruled by its council of elders which led the state into a peaceful and prosperous plutocracy which developed one of the best agricultural technologies in Asia at its time. The state consisted of various subgroups which had similar yet somewhat distinct culture and traditions. Conflicts among the Ifugao people were resolved in the most peaceful way possible. Unlike most of the highland plutocracies in the Cordilleras at the time, the Plutocracy of Ifugao had the least conflict with lowland settlers or Ilokanos. Kiangan was known as the birthplace of the Ifugao people and Hungduan as the epicenter of its culture.

GMA News TV (informally abbreviated GNTV or simply News TV) is a television network in the Philippines and it is co-owned and operated by GMA Network Inc. and ZOE Broadcasting Network Inc./ZOE-TV of Jesus Is Lord Church leader Eddie Villanueva. GNTV's content, ranging from news and public affairs programs along with other programs - current affairs programming, entertainment, reality, drama, comedy, series, movie blockbuster, lifestyle, sports programs - is provided by GMA's subsidiary Citynet Network Marketing and Productions, Inc., which in turn has an airtime agreement as the main content provider of ZOE-TV since 2005.
The network debuted on February 28, 2011 as a replacement for its former national network "Q"— as such it is broadcast by all television service providers and terrestrial stations which formerly carried Q. Its broadcast facilities for studios are located at the 22/F Strata 2000 Building, Emerald Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City and GMA Network Center, EDSA corner Timog Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City with transmitter is located at Tandang Sora, Barangay Culiat, Quezon City.
GMA News and Public Affairs (commonly GMA News; formerly RBS News Department, GMA Radio-Television News and GMA Rainbow Satellite News) is the news and public affairs programming division of the media conglomerate, GMA Network Inc.
It produces news, public affairs, infotainment, and lately, entertainment programs for all GMA Network and GMA News TV owned and affiliated television and radio stations in the Philippines, and internationally through GMA Pinoy TV, GMA Life TV and GMA News TV International. GMA News and Public Affairs is currently headed by Marissa Flores. It is headquartered at the Ground Floor of GMA Network Center in Quezon City.
The GMA News division traces its origin from the Republic Broadcasting System, established by Robert Stewart in 1959. Programming of its radio station, DZBB depended on mostly news reports. The station covered the eruption of Mt. Hibok-Hibok in 1951 and the election and death of the Former President Ramon Magsaysay. While RBS Channel 7 was established in 1961, it was in the 1970s that GMA became one of the most-watched television news source in the country. In 1983, Channel 7 was the first to break the news of Ninoy Aquino's death and later would be the only television station to broadcast his funeral. The channel also became the first station to broadcast the Ramos-Enrile break-away that led to the People Power Revolution (otherwise known as EDSA Revolution).

If you're ever in the Ifugao province in Luzon, spend a bit of time in Batad. Here's a few shots of the scenery and people.
This was the start of my Northern Luzon Highlands / Ifugao Mountain Province drive. My journey started from Bagabag to Banaue. It was one anticipated drive since doing a warm up drive at Santa Fe Dalton Pass on a misty foggy morning. It was my first time to pass via this route as usually i go to the right going to Isabela. The roads are good on most parts but there are some roads and bridges that are under construction. Must be safe to say we are entering the back door of Banaue. The weather was fantastic! You can open the window and savor the fresh scent of nature. Upon reaching Cordillera Administrative Region, you can feel the difference of city driving and mountain driving. As of documentation: Road Condition -Good roads but there are some portions under construction or rehabilitati...

The Banaue Rice Terraces quietly exist in the mountainous region of the Philippines known as Cordillera. Well off the beaten path, these breathtaking terraces carved into the hillside are high in the mountain ranges on the island of Luzon- the main island in the Philippines. This area is not only full of beauty, but rich with culture as many of the traditional ways of life of the indigenous people of the region are still preserved by the families that live in and tend to the rice terraces. The rice terraces of Banaue are known as the 8th wonder of the world and were inscribed as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1995. They are truly a sight to see and make for an excellent hiking adventure, photographic opportunity, and cultural learning experience all in one. Join me on this exciting po...
I spent 21 days in the Philippines, travelling from Manila (Flew in from Sydney, Australia) to Baguio by bus. Spent the night there. Then from Baguio to Banaue via bus also. The transportation took longer than expected due the the narrow, busy, and unexpected mountain terrain the whole way. But it was a beautiful drive. Whilst arriving in Banaue we checked into our AirBNB with Randolf, a very helpful, passionate filipino which told us the way through the Banaue rice terraces. Literally all he said was; "Start at the top and follow the path". Well it wasn't exactly perfect instructions but i guess it was all we needed. I hope you enjoy , Peace.

Banaue is a secret gem located up north in the Ifugao province-about an eleven hour bus ride north of Manila. I am fascinated with this place and I hope this inspires you to want to visit. In September of 2016 I came back here to hike the Batad Rice Terrace with my filipino boyfriend. We opted to hike together instead of hiring a guide. You can either hire a guide once the tricycle (for about 500 PhP) drops you off at the site or you can get on a tour that leaves from Banaue and it is an all inclusive price: transportation roundtrip from Banaue to Batad, lunch, and guide...
